Who will be the next Great Black Hope?

David "The Great Black Hype" Haye was outclassed by Wladimir Klitschko and lost his WBA strap today. I wonder who the next "Great Black Hope" will be?

Some say it will be Deontay Wilder. In the UK, a few have high hopes for Derek Chisora. In Ireland, the wiggers will be wanting black Cuban Mike Perez to become champion.

HBO will be telecasting the August fight of Seth Mitchell. Many have high hopes for him - to be fair, he actually looks decent, as does the previously-mentioned Perez.

Are any of these going to become champ, or will the young white heavyweights like David Price and Robert Helenius dominate after the Klitschkos retire?Edited by: Parody

Realistically, 2 or 3 years from now its likely Klitschko's will be gone simply due to their age. I feel right now, Klitschko is a top P4P fighter and will retire as an alltime great heavyweight, along with Vitali. Wlad's win tonight over a former undisputed champion is an amazing result and further solidifes his legacy. Wlad is an alltime great and current top P4P fighter.

Future black hypes include, as youve mentioned - Deontay Wilder, Mike Perez, and Dereck Chisora. Seth Mitchell only started boxing when he was like 25, and has almost zero amateur experience, I really don't think highly of Seth Mitchell and suspect it wont be long until he is beaten by a decent "gatekeeper" type. Bermane Stiverne is a black boxer thats already been exposed in a KO loss to Demetrius King, but seems to be back in title contention. This guy will get KO'd by any top10 HW but has a puncher's chance.

Chisora is iffy, we'll know more about him after his fight with Tyson Fury. Chisora is being favoured, but personally I see the fight as even or a slight edge to Fury.

Perez and Wilder are probably the best 2 black prospects, and even at that, I'm not overly impressed. Ive seen a few of Perez' fights and felt he's missing something. Could make a splash, but these Cubans have a tendency of being underachievers. I also question his defense and question his abiltiy to deal with better fighters. Beating Tye Fields doesn't prove a whole lot.

I don't know much about Wilder other than he lost to an Italian fighter in the Olympics and many people are suspect of his development as a pro. He hasn't fought anyone worth mentioning and is probably a good 2-3 years away from title contention.

On the other hand, there exists a plethora of great white prospects such as
Denis Boytsov, Robert Helenius, David Price, Vyacheslav Glazkov and others.

Boytsov is perhaps the most talented but is unfrotunately having a lot of reoccurring hand injuries. Helenius looks to be the most accomplished and "solid" of the lot. Price and Glazkov are coming up the ladder. Helenius is the most established young fighter at HW at the moment.

I think the white prospects look a lot better for the future than the black prospects.

ALSO, Europe is simply producing much better HWs through amateurs than Americas, so it stands to reason that over time more Europeans will be successful.

I would say all indications point to a continued *majority* European dominance at HW even after the Klitschko's are gone.

Parody, I'd love to see Wilder become the next black dope. He's undefeated and has a 100 percent Ko percentage but once he get sin the ring with a real opponent it will be a different story.

This may have been mentioned here before but Tye Fields was KO'd by the fighter Mike Perez, who Parody mentioned. Fields lost in the first round and it looks like our Great American Hope is really a poor fighter. His first round loss to Monte Barrett was embarrassing as well.

Perez is a disgusting, fat negro who barely speaks a word of English yet he managed to snare some local heroin addict. He's fought nobody really. He won that silly prizefighter tournament but that doesn't say much.

Seth Mitchell is probably the next one the DWFs will get behind. He'll be worked into a title fight without having fought a live opponent.

The Cuban mulatto is probably too short and doesn't hit hard enough for his lack of size. He probably could make the cruiserweight limit as he was an amateur 201 pound fighter. Black Hopes are fairly thin. It almost is the polar opposite of what it was like in the 70's through early 90's...

For every Negro prospect, there are 5 white (eastern) Europeans, we will own this division for ages. How many title defenses Wladimir has now in total? 15 right? How many this little overrated national champ of America who used steel inside his gloves in his rematch with Max Schmelling has had againsttomatocans and bums?

Just to show how screwed up boxing is I check Wladimirs record. His last 12 fights all but two of his opponents have been white. Ibragimov tried to unify belts and Chagaev was a replacement for Haye. With all the talented white fighters why is he always stuck fighting negroes?

The IBF, which is run by African-Americans, have had negro mandatories Wlad had to fight.

His next IBF mandatory will be the winner of Chambers vs. Thompson, another negro. I hope he gives up that belt instead of fighting one of those two again.

Ridiculous. Thompson is now ranked 6th on Boxrec I believe. I'm almost definite Wladimirs next five fights, if he doesn't retire, will all be black fighters.

Yes the IBF was created to "help" American fighters. But a rematch against Chambers or Thompson is idiotic. Neither would deserve a rematch. I would sooner see Wlad execute Areolla or somebody that would attack him.

The IBF was created by corrupt Black boxing people and shaked down promoters like the White Latino run organizations ie the WBA. The idiotic Panamanian WBA President was in the ring congratulating Wlad after the fight. Wlad should have told the WBA to stick their belt where the sun doesn't shine. The only good thing about Wlad winning that belt is he will become a "Super Champion" and get to defend that trinket against anybody he wants. The bad thing is some stooge(maybe Haye again) will become the regular champion and will parade around as a champion and get a mandatory challenge against Wlad around a years time.

If I was Wlad I would tell Gaye to dig a hole and only come out when he locates his nuts. Based on Arreloa's last performances and weight loss is in the lead for a crack at Wlad. I say one more victory over a supposed good affeletic fighter and he will get it.Edited by: Westside

Yes, being both black and American, Im sure HBO will be opening all doors they can for him and the media will be all over him.

Thing is, Seth Mitchell only started boxing at age 25 and has something like 15 amateur fights.

Thats never a good sign and Ill go on record saying Seth Mitchell has a good chance of being upset by journeyman-type fighters or the first `legit` top20ish guy he fights.

To be completely honest, I really dont think Seth Mitchell will ever make it to a titleshot.

He has no amateur background, took up the sport late, and honestly I think even a guy like Tye Fields or Kertson Manswell would stand a good chance of beating him.

Mitchell is not very good.

Quoted for truth.

The ratio probably isn`t 5-to-1, but closer to 3-to-1.

Still, if you look at the amateurs, Europeans are succeeding and Americans are failing. Its really that god damn simple.

The best forecast of future pro boxing exists in current amateur boxing, and in that regard Heavyweight will continue to be a European stronghold.

The real challenge for European boxing is fielding good fighters below welterweight (147 lbs)

If you look at the world championship level the 201 pound class and the open class 201+ are dominated by the old Soviet republics. So most of the world class heavyweights will come out of these tournaments. They have been dominated by these countries for at least 12 years now. The last heavyweight champion that was a raw amateur was Hasbeen Rockhead and we know what happened to his championship reign....
