... I agree, but to be fair, the article was critical of anti-white racism, or that's how it came off to me, anyway.

I hope your next article concentrates on the discrimination facing White RB's and White CB's (especially after high school).
Maybe the "general public" needs to know about that, huh?
Ultimately, you have proven that "race is real and important" by... "pimping the causes close to your, and, ESPN's heart."
So, once again, we see that most people are "racist" but some are just too cowardly to admit it --- Whites and some Blacks.

I've read a few articles about Love and Hansborough and their potential for the NBA. It's the same old story, they apparently arn't athletic enough and will also apparently get outmuscled by superior black athletes (more like fouled)!?!?!
It really does make me sick to the stomach because any white person who hasn't been brainwashed would instantly realise that the reason they arn't supposidly athletic enough is because of their white skin.
I mean they've both been outstanding (as we all know) and have completely outplayed everyone who has come before them, what else does one have to do to earn full respect in college basketball? Maybe they should do a reverse of Michael Jackson and change their skin? If thats possible?
Anyway, It will be interesting to see what happens to Love and Hansborough in the NBA and how they are treated. I have this feeling that they will rot on the bench for the first year or two and then be used in the wrong way so that their talent faids nice and quietly so know one notices (not that the brainwashed fans will care).

I think the problem for Tyler is that he is a 4 in NCAA basketball but a 3 in NBA basketball. A classic problem for players of all races. I see him doing about the same as Nick Collison.

I think Hansbourough can be a double/double guy. He is alot more tenacious and a better scoring threat than Collison. I really do not see him failing at the next level. He was dominant this year and has improved every year.

Hansborough can definitely be a good scorer in the NBA IMO, but will struggle guarding some of the quality 4s in the NBA. I'd be scared if I were a coach to have Hansborough on Garnett, Amare Stoudemire or Dirk alone; Tyler just gives up too much length. Hansborough will need some help defense against players like the aforementioned. He will have trouble trying to guard the 3s on the perimeter b/c he's not quick enough to guard the top 3s like Lebron or Paul Pierce. He will be able to guard certain players one on one though and there's always zone D.

I think this article was your quintessential "inside joke."
Kevin Love and Tyler Hansbrough were in the Final Four, but this writer decided not to broaden the issue of White leapers and their abilities. That's what is most telling. What does he risk or lose by writing this piece? Was he trying to, perhaps, hide the really GREAT White leapers??
He apparently had enough writing space to praise Obama's cultural Marxist speech, whine about a lack of black head coaches in College Football, and imply a possible NFL-screwing of QB Dennis Dixon --- but he couldn't expand his list of White leapers (inside basketball or in some other sport).
Pointing out the fact that all blacks aren't high-fliers is about the only thing I give him credit for.
As for the NBA "evaluations" -- it's true that many blacks are overrated and many Whites are underrated. It's perfectly fine to "reach" for an afflete while the White boys get picked late 1st Round and in the 2nd.
In some ways, the College hype-machine is greater than that of the NBA's, so the exodus of "basketball Gods" to the pro ranks - every year - is a damn good thing and something I celebrate. The NBA will be "finished" that much quicker....

Here's where I differ with the mainstream sports media. "Athletic" in their eyes means the ability to run and jump. In my humble opinion, shooting a basketball requires "athletic" ability. Sure it's a skill, and it's perfected with long hours of practice, but there's something to be said about the "athletic" ability of someone who is able to consistently hit a jump shot or a free throw. The players in the NBA have spent years practicing and playing the game. Yet, for some reason the white guys are better shooters in general? Is there some kind of "athletic" ability that is not being recognized there? Spacial ability? Hand-eye coordination?
Let's say that if a black players jumps 36" off the floor on his jump shot and the white player jumps 30" then the black guy is more "athletic". But nobody notices if the white guy hits 50% and the black guy hits 40%. Which is more "athletic"?
IMHO the biggest culprit is ESPN sportscenter and the whole highlight film culture. Even our local high school coverage has been infected. Some fool makes a dunk and they've GOT to show it over a boring little white guard knocking down a 3 pointer.

Realistic..You make a good point on spatial ability and hand-eye coordination. That topic has been heavily researched and posted about at Caste Football. Go look into the archives because JB Cash and Don Wassall have wrote about that extensively, others have too.Edited by: guest301
