I hope you are right. There has been an increase in the number of white wrs on rosters during the offseason over the past 5 years but they all ultimately get cut. I hope your projections turn out to be true but after being a racially aware watchdog on the nfls racial policies of white exclusion for almost a decade now I have to limit my optimism.

2014 season for white WRs as it is.

First, the bad news. 7 wide receivers got cut so far. At least 2 of them merited to be on a 53 man roster.

WR - Ryan Whalen
WR - Conner Vernon
WR - Weston Dressler
WR - Erik Lora
WR - Devon Wylie
WR - TJ Moe
WR - Andy Tanner

Jared Abbrederis was making big waves but got hurt, so he's out until next year and a few others like Jeremy Ebert, Alex Gillet and Bryan Walters are on the fence. But don't get your hopes up.

Now the good part. More white WRs are breaking the barrier.

We have 4(ish) Nr1./1000+ yard WRs representing

Jordy Nelson
Erick Decker
Brian Hartline(even if they don't wan't to admit it, he's Nr.1 in Miami)
Julian Edelman

Meanwhile...

Danny Amendola
Riley Cooper
Wes Welker

...will have 1000+ yard potential and will be acting WR Nr2s. Others like...

Griff Whalen
Cole Beasley
Khris Durnham
Dane Sanzenbacher

...will be major contributors to their respective teams... Also, newcomers and the so far ignored are making it harder and harder for coaches to ignore them if they want to win.

Adam Thielen
Jeff Janis (he's gonna be big)
Josh Lenz
Chris Hogan
Brenton Bersin
Nick Williams
Marc Marriani
Travis Labhart
Jeff Maehl

Will all make their teams and contribute.

that's 20-25 stable white WRs for next season. Overall, not bad, but could be a lot better.

Amendola and Cooper certainly have 1,000 yard potential but Amendola is always hurt so he never hits that goal. Cooper came pretty close last year and may get 1,000 yards if he stays healthy now that he and Foles have more experience together. With Decker gone in Denver Welker could get another 1,000 yards. Decker worries me though. I can't see him continuing his success with Geno Smith. He will basically be the only option on the Jets and outside of Decker the Jets might have the worst receiving core in the entire league. He screwed himself.

****! I stand corrected. Labhart and Mariani have been cut. Looks like the injuries finally caught up with Mariani. Travis wasn't given a fair shot. Cleveland should pick him up.

...meanwhile 2010, 2nd round BUST! Arrelious Benn will probably be released. Jeff Maehl has a better shot to contribute

SHOCKER!:icon_surprised:

Kris Durham cut. Wouldn't have expected this even from the dreadfull Lions coaching staff. He was a legitimate Nr.3 receiver.

"You never know what's going to happen," Durham said earlier this week. "As far as the emotions go, you're sitting there by your phone. You try to see if you get a phone call, sometimes it's a phone call that says 'Hey, congratulations.' I've been on the other side of that saying, 'Hey, bring your playbook.'

"It's one of those things where you know what you signed up for. Mentally, you kind of prepare yourself as much as possible for the worst and hope for the best."

Hope someone picks him up. Like Cleveland. They need WRs after their one year wonder got suspended.

Cleveland desperately needs help at wide receiver and could use Durham. We'll see what happens.

It seems as if some football people would rather die than give a white player a chance at a caste position. Cleveland could do themselves a favor by bucking this trend.

A black player with Durham's skill level not only never would have been cut, but would probably be a #2 receiver. I hope a white-friendly team picks Kris up.

Yeah me too. Most local sports people expected him to make the cut. He was one of their better receivers last year. But we know how it works in the Negro Football League, a white player has to be a superstar or else the fans want him gone because he is a bum holding back some black superstar in waiting that has unlimited upside.

Durham was a good friend of Matt Stafford, college roomies, and the cries of nepotism followed him around. Staffords ridiculously scatter shot passing didn't help, as he would regularly fire off target line drive bullets at his buddy instead of putting it up for grabs like he does for Calvin Johnson, and let Durhams height advantage take effect.

Durham had a high profile fumble during the Lions late season collapse and of course the DWF's fixate on stuff like that. I've mentioned a couple of times the odd media white-out on Durham before. It happened again a couple of weeks ago. Talk radio was going over the Lions receiver situation and they discussed each guy on the roster at the position, at that time there must have been about ten, and not one single word on Durham. It was like he didn't even exist. I think in their minds a white wide receiver that isn't a short slot guy like Welker is like a family embarrassment to a team.

Durham didn't help himself by not coming up with some tough catches, he was capable of making the tough catches, and frequently did not. A black receiver gets a pass for that but not a white one, they still talk about Welker not making a leaping, falling back, over the head catch in the Super Bowl, so the margin for error is very thin.

They might sign him back someday to the practice squad as he knows the offense and Lions receivers are from the gangster/injury school of athlete and often self terminate themselves.

Durham was the equivalent of say Chris Conte or Craig Dahl at safety -- decent but not spectacular, and therefore not given time to further develop. Whites really have to shine right from the get-go now at all positions, including quarterback. The only exception is offensive line, which isn't as closely scrutinized, but even there all it takes is a single negative article from some hack journalist and a negative urban myth about a player is instantly born and believed.

Durham to the Titans. Hope he's a quick study and locker doesn't get injured

it seems most everyone has forgotten Alex Neutz …

the former University of Buffalo wideout measures in at 6-foot-3 and ran a 4.58 in the 40 with a 33-inch vertical at his Pro Day. yet, "somehow" this playmaking receiver (65 catches for 1,015 yards and 11 scores as a junior and 61 receptions for 1,024 yards and 12 scores as a senior) who set a school record with 31 receiving touchdowns while known for his ability to pick up yards after the catch and for coming down with jump balls isn't even in an NFL camp … "weird," huh?

Brenton Bersin had his first NFL catch against the Lions on Sunday. Greg Olsen is basically the no. 1 receiver for Scam Newton, so maybe he likes throwing to blond guys? Bersin has really long hair. Is there another white offensive player with long hair? It seems like all the long haired white guys are on defense (as few as there are).

EDIT: Riley Cooper has long hair too I see, not like Bersin though.

Nelson Spruce, the best WR in college and you'd probably never hear about him in mainstream media

It's literally turned into one of the most depressing and frustrating times of the year for me.

People have no idea how much of what we see is part of a larger process of social conditioning. The aggravation - for me - is draining.

Jack Reacher thats a very good way of putting it. Draining to say the least. Our guys face more discrimination than any negro ever in the history of paying jobs.

Some potential good news. If the head coach is to be trusted, it appears that Adam Humphries will be the 3rd receiver for the Tampa Bay Bucs. This would make him a starter in most sets.

Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said Adam Humphries will be the team's No. 3 receiver.
Koetter said he wanted to "end the mystery" by giving the No. 3 job to Humphries, a player who has impressed him with his consistency. That is all fine and good, but it is odd to declare a winner for a hotly contested position this early in camp. As it stands now, sophomore Kenny Bell appears to be buried on the depth chart. Almost exclusively a slot receiver, Humphries averaged 9.6 yards on 27 catches last season. Aug 1 - 11:02 AM
