2006 has been a very bad year for the guys we root for.The only realistic guy that will possibly go for
1000 yards receiving is Mike Furrey who currently has
650 yards receiving with 5 games left.Even that is no guarantee as he is not thrown to as much as I would like.

Kevin Curtis,Drew Bennett,Matt Jones,Joe Jurevicius,Brandon Stokley,David Kircus and
many others are not being thrown to much at all.
This is such a shame.I ask myself if next year will
be any different.If they can do this to Matt Jones,the future doesn't look that bright.I think that alot of these guys need to go to different teams.Let's hope that 2007 will be alot better along with new guys like the Shark and E.Deslauriers added to the mix.Mostly though,I want to see Mike Hass starting on some team.

exactly. i want Hass back on, possibly Lyman, i want Gessner to have a shot at pt in Tampa, Curtis needs to go to some team that will actually throw to him.

i hope for the best for Stokley, Jones and Kircus but i doubt it will get much bettter for these guys.

realistically Furrey and Welker's production will drop.

all my hope is in Shark and possibly Jones and Hass breakthrough.

Shark will get some PT as a high pick,

Matt Jones and Drew Bennett will still play, their production will be based upon various factors, mostly the quality of their black QBs.

Furrey is done. The Lions suck so they will have to rebuild and that will mean getting rid of white guys.

Welker will get some PT but there will be pressure for the Dolphins to "upgrade".

Stokely is done. Too many injuries. Same for Jurevicious.

Kircus was unused, he will be out of the league.

Hass? Doubtful, only white guys with above average athleticism get second chances, so....

even after his TD catch, when all the blacks were swarming him to celebrate, he was like "whatever." he didn't want any part of it.

i wouldn't count on him being drafted... invited to the combine and possibly a place on practice squad somewhere for a couple of years, and then it's bac to the real world for him. sure it sucks but that's the reality of it.

Matt Jones certainly ought to be frustrated. How would you like to be the biggest, fastest WR on your team, and be relegated to a few token looks per game? How could you silently take watching your incompetent black teammates drop passes routinely, in every game, yet never be criticized for it, while you lose your spot in the starting lineup after dropping a few passes? The situation in the NFL for white players is completely ridiculous.

Jones and Bennett are unlikely to thrive with their current look at me run around QB's. We will need patience and hope something changes for the better. I think the white WR is not dead per say but in a slumber unlike the CB position which has been dead for years.

I read a current interview with Bloom and he said that he is 100% ready for next season and he will be at full strenght.He said that the injury was a blessing in disguise as he will know the playbook in & out.He will also be in the best football shape of his life!

I see alot of these guys having better years next year.I do think that Curtis needs to go somewhere else though unless one of the other veterans on the Rams retires.Bennett needs to demand the ball more.He is the number one receiver and he needs to let V.Young know that.Get in his face and demand the ball.I think that we might also see David Anderson get a chance next year.The Texans have barely played the guy and he is very similar to Welker and Bloom.

From looking at NFL draft scout.com DavidAndersonisn't as fast as Welker and Bloom, who are phenomenal athletes. Also I fear David Ball, but especially Todd Blythe won't be given a fair chance, after they're draftedin the NFL, because Ball runs in the 4.6 range and Blythe supposedly mid 4.6. These are college times though, and they are known to be off a bit because they are handtimed. But if Hass who was an unbelievable player get's screwed for running a 4.59 at the nfl combine and having a bad overall performance there, even when he ran a 4.58 and 4.50, jumped 36.5 inches and had an elite 3 cone time at Pro-day, which shows route running abilty and agility, I fear that Blythe and Ball will get screwed also.

this is as much as i've seen of Chad Gessner all year:

he's almost in every photo session from their practices but he won't see any field... i just have a slight hope that they will stick with this player, who was very good for Bucs in preseason next season.

The Falcon's receivers don't seem to drop any more balls than any other team's receivers. It's a league wide problem, not a Falcon's problem. Just another way to take the heat off Vick, IMO.

But they get what they deserve. The NFL consigns guys like Mike Haas to a practice squad and then wonder why they don't have anybody around who can catch the ball.

good point WS, i think white receivers are bound to have some sort of revival very soon, because everyone is quickly growing tired of all these great athletes that can't catch a ball to save their lives... enter whites, who are not less athletic (that will be a shocker for the masses) and can actually grab something more than stripper's ass in the club.

"Stokley returning, Proehl arriving at slot position

In other wide receiver news, Dungy said he expects Brandon Stokley to play this week for the first time since the Tennessee game Oct. 8. Stokley has been sidelined with a knee injury.

However, the Colts reached an agreement with veteran Ricky Proehl for added depth at the slot position.

Proehl, 38, has played 16 seasons in the NFL, most recently with the Carolina Panthers last season. He has 666 career catches for 8,848 yards and 54 touchdowns.

"He brings a veteran guy who's been in December and January big games," Dungy said. "He's a slot receiver who knows how to get open and make tough catches. We haven't really had our full three wide-receiver offense in play. We hope to get that back with Brandon, and this brings another veteran guy to the line-up."

Dungy expects Proehl to join the rotation soon.

"It'll take him a little while to learn the offense and code words," Dungy said. "He'll know routes and how to get open. It's a matter of getting timing with Peyton. He's made a lot of clutch plays in big situations."

In the 1999 NFC Championship game, Proehl caught the game-winning pass that beat Dungy and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"As I told him when he was here earlier in the fall, he's taken a lot of money from me, so I know what he's capable of," Dungy said.

The Colts released no further word on the injuries to tight end Dallas Clark (knee), offensive tackle Ryan Diem (back) and safety Antoine Bethea (shoulder).

Dungy said he was pleased with the way Bryan Fletcher, Charlie Johnson and Dexter Reid filled in for the injured players in the Eagles game.

"Those three guys are critical players for us," Dungy said, "but we didn't really miss a beat and that's what you want."

You could form a pretty good receiving corps with white receivers that are free agents.

Off the top of my head I can name four from recent years that should be doing well in the NFL: Conner Vernon, Ryan Spadola, David Douglas and Tyler Shoemaker.

None of these players got a fair chance because they're white.

This goes for all positions. As players get injured and teams sign free agents to fill the roster spots it's pretty amazing how they choose black no names rather than white players.

Sam McGuffie is another one. 4 and 5 star recruits that are black still get a chance after terrible college careers. McGuffie was written off as a true freshman when he didnt automatically take every play to the house while jumping over defenders. RichRod had a brilliant idea, put him on return duty against rival Ohio State when he was still recovering from a concussion where he was led into a bad play across the middle. Had like 1200+ yards from scrimmage his first year at Rice with 9 tds, 380 of those came from receptions and moved to wide receiver where he looked more suited for his last year. Burned DJ hayden quite a few times.

elite measurables as a prospect, 4.3 speed at 5'10 200 pounds, as well as top 3 cone/20yard shuttle/agility times. 42 inch vertical 26 bench press reps.

Too true, especially on defense. Its amazing how guys like Barrett Ruud, Brian Urlacher, and Scott Shanle were forced into early retirement, meanwhile bums like Phillip Wheeler, Daneel Elerbe, and Rolando McClain continue to hold starting jobs..

I still can't believe he lasted until the last pick in the 2018 draft. He should have been picked much higher based on merit.
