The thread title is "White Running Backs".

His photo is the one in the story, because it's the second year in a row he's screwed his team in the harshest way possible.

Nice try GLS, but it doesn't wash. You come on here and bash white RBs and don't provide links to the story which shows that he isn't the only one in trouble. Maybe if the coaches were as lenient on him as a lot of coaches are on their black boys, he wouldn't have "screwed" the team because he'd still be playing in the game. You are acting very much like a troll.

Idk Reb if the kid has been suspended two years in a row at critical times, I think it is right to bash him whether he is white, black, or blue. Clearly he has other priorities that do not involve palying football.

Its not just this post, it includes GLS's recent posts like these.

<table ="tableBorder" style="table-layout: fixed;" align="center" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><t><tr ="msgableRow" style="height: 200px; min-height: 200px;"><tr ="msgableRow" style="height: 200px; min-height: 200px;"><td ="msgLineDevider" valign="top">

Last time I mentioned Reggie Benton, jokers on here claimed he was
black. He was a stud running back from Flint, one of the highest rated
-- nationally -- in I think 2000. If I recall correctly, didn't
graduate h.s. and didn't get into U-M, went to a prep school then went
to Purdue, but left before playing a game. Had heard rumor he joined
the army. </div>

</td></tr></tr></t></table>
"The sad thing is, U-M could've been White Running Back U. But all of
the ones from recent memory were screw-ups (Benton and Jon Anes) or
quitters (that kid who hurdled people on Youtube)."

So, Sam McGuffie is just a quitter? Nobody measures up to GLS's standards.

I don't think GLS is a troll, he's just a smart alec who rubs people the wrong way sometimes. The McGuffie quote is perplexing though. GLS did you know McGuffie had a death in the family and had to care for his brother. He is not a quiter. I don't think we should label GLS as a troll though, when has he tried to fabricate and minimize white athleticism Reb?

Tough, I never said GLS tried to fabricate anything or minimize white athleticism. He has left out pertinent facts in a few of his posts and has denigrated CF posters as a group more than once.

Whitney just had a nice run, the FCS game is on ESPN for anyone who wants to watch. Of course the announcer had to follow up his nice run with "hes not the flashiest or the fastest guy"

not trying to get too off subject but in this game there is a White DT that is close to 290 and they said he runs a 4.5. Thats pretty impressive, said he is a very successful DT, didnt catch his name though.Edited by: dwid

I wonder when they'll start saying after every time a black makes a good play, "he's not the smartest or the quickest-witted but"

Villanova's White DT is Phil Matusz who is listed at 300. William &amp; Mary has two White DTs in Sean Lissemore and Michael Stover. Not sure about their sizes though.

Matt Szczur had a great game for 'Nova, rushing for 92 yards on just 8 carries. Also caught a couple of passes for short gains. I wonder if he'll get a shot at the NFL. He's got perfect size for a RB, 5'11", 195#, and according to his scouting report, is the typical slow-footed white guy, "only" running the 40 in 4.31, a 4.12 shuttle, 30" white-man-can't-jump vertical, and 22 reps on the bench.

Week 15-The FCS Playoff Semifinals finds Montana playing at home
against App. State. Montana features RB Chase Reynolds. Go Grizzlies!
Villanova has a great White dual threat QB in Chris Whitney and his
team is at home against William &amp; Mary. They also have a combo WR/RB in Matt Szczur.

Except for the
Army-Navy game, the FBS is done until the bowls start next Saturday.
Dual threat QB Trent Steelman leads Army in rushing, while FB Vince
Murray has more rushing yards than anyone else at his position in the
country.

FBS
Vince Murray-Navy-13 runs for 41 yards and a 21 yard catch
Trent Steelman-Army-11 runs for 16 yards

FCS-Playoff Semifinals
Chase Reynolds-Montana-23 runs for a game high 194 yards and 2 TDs plus 2 catches for 30 yards
smiley32.gif

Chris Whitney-Villanova-17 runs for 37 yards and a TD
Matt Szczur-Villanova-8 runs for 92 yards and a TD plus 2 catches for 8 yards and 2 KR for 54 yards

I'm not sure what's up with Jared Hawkins, but I saw an article that said he "remains sidelined" and it mentioned his foot injury at the beginning of the season.

you were correct, Tough. after being jerked around for so long by the coaching staff, he finally emerged as "the" guy ... only to suffer injuries. i feel really bad for him.

<a href="http://www.insidevandy.com/drupal/node/11868" target="_blank">
<DIV =ecxphoto-caption>Jared Hawkins</a>Last year against Tennessee, he stretched out the ligaments in the top of his foot in the Louis Frank joint. He fought through the pain of the injury to help Vanderbilt win its first bowl game since 1955.

He had to play in that game; he deserved to play; his five touchdowns and team-high 593 rushing yards were a big reason why Vanderbilt played in the Music City Bowl.

After the season, he had surgery and had a screw placed in the top of his foot to try to immobilize the joint and allow the ligaments to heal. Doctors took the screw out in May and told him that the injury would need eight to 12 months to fully heal. He didn't have that amount of time; he only had four months and he wanted to be back for his senior season to help his team get back to another bowl game.

Jared Hawkins came back to practice in August. The foot felt fine. He thought he was about to embark on another tough but fun SEC football season. It would be his last, and like any athlete, he wanted his final season to be a memorable one.

Unfortunately, it was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

During preseason camp in August, Hawkins made a cut during practice and re-injured the ligaments. He rehabbed the foot and was given medicine to alleviate the pain, but he still was not able to play until Vanderbilt's game against Rice, which was a homecoming for the running back from Spring, TX, a suburb of Houston. In that game, Hawkins rushed for 66 yards on 11 carries.

Captain, friend and fellow redshirt senior Bradley Vierling can attest to the struggles that Hawkins has faced this season.

"(Jared's) the kind of guy who does everything, anything he can for this team. He's gotten shot up, he's taken meds, he's rehabbed,"Â￾ Vierling said. "He got to play in his home state when we beat Rice. He's been battling. You feel for a guy like that. Best thing about Jared is he hasn't been a ghost. He's been a voice on the team which is a big help for us."Â￾

As the season has progressed, Hawkin's injury has continued to give him trouble, as the medicine has been less and less successful. He would be forced to sit out two weeks before returning one last time against South Carolina on Oct. 24.

"It's been really frustrating because it seems like some weeks he was feeling pretty good"Â￾ said Vanderbilt coach Bobby Johnson. "The stuff we were doing medically for him was working. He actually had a couple good games, and it looked like he was going to come out of it and really help our offense, and he would have been a big help for our offense this year. It's not only frustrating to him but it's frustrating for the coaches."Â￾

Jared Hawkins' career as a Commodore is over. He is highly doubtful to play against Kentucky or Tennessee, but for those of you who only see the incredible duo of Zac Stacy and Warren Norman running around on game day, know that Hawkins is a large reason for their success as freshmen.

"I go to all the meetings,"Â￾ Hawkins said, "and I try to make sure I know the game plan for each week, and if I see (the freshmen) forget to do something or miss a line, then I just make sure that (Coach) Kitchings corrects it, or I just follow up and let them know where they're supposed to be at or what guy they have on a certain pass protection, and all those type of things."Â￾

Hawkins will be missed because he is the type of student-athlete that only comes along every once in a while. He put his health on the line for our school and our football program, but that is the type of guy Hawkins is.

He and the other seniors have set the groundwork for Vanderbilt to turn the corner from perennial doormat to yearly competitors in the SEC East. While this season has largely been one to forget, recruiting continues to improve thanks to this senior class, and hopefully, it is a matter of time until these players' hard work pays off.

As for Hawkins, the season has not gone as he envisioned back in August, but he is in good spirits and is preparing for life after football.

"I'm probably going to work project controls for an engineering company,"Â￾ Hawkins said.

here's the link to the original article.

i wish the best of luck to him in the rest of his life, because it seems football is no longer in his future.

Reminds me of what Jake Sharp has done at Kansas with his lower-leg injury. Although, as is often said, "hindsight is 20/20", both of these guys should have taken a medical exception to gain an extra year of elegibility rather than "tough it out" "for the team" thereby ruining their chances to play on Sundays. But that's how it is for the guilty white guys, even if they do make it to the NFL,like"taking it for the team" Jacob Hester, Peyton Hillis, and others.

Great point Football Dad. I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Jake Sharp though. He will either make a nfl team as a free agent or possibly get a medical redshirt to play one more season. The kid is just too good to give up football. He would be one of the 2 fastest running backs in the nfl if he makes it. Don't count him out just yet.

I hope and pray that you are right, WL. It's going to come down to a combine invite. If he's given a chance to shine with his amazing measurables, he will have a real chance.

The NFL will be total hypocrites if Sharp does not get a chance. They claim to love speed, and Sharp is a 4.3 guy, maybe even faster. Everyone team is claiming to want a "Chris Johnson clone" (a guy that is 4.3 or faster but can run in between the tackles), Jake Sharp is the only other back that I know that fits that profile. Spiller has the speed, but can't really run in between the tackles at the college level and will probably wind up more like Reggie Bush than Chris Johnson.

Kahlil Bell got a combine invite and ran a blazing 4.78. Now he has been getting carries for the Bears. Here is his combine analysis:

"Although Bell is a strong one-cut back with loads of potential, he had an injury-riddled and generally ineffective career with the Bruins. He played in only 25 games over the past three seasons, starting 14, because of a suspension (2006), torn right ACL (2007) and high ankle sprain (2008). As a senior, he averaged 2.8 yards per carry playing hurt behind a young, constantly rotating offensive line. His 10 catches for 65 yards did not showcase his talents, either. If his legs are healthy and his mind is right, teams running a zone-blocking scheme could find him to be a great bargain as a late pick or free agent."

If this guy can get a chance Jake Sharp should definitely get a chance.

Thanks for the stats Colonel! Just wanted to report that Luke Lippincott has been injured since the New Mexico State game. I think some of us are too quick to assume a white RB has been fazed out of an offense, by an FBS coach, b/c of all the crap that white RBs have faced in the past. Luke Lippincott, Kevin Harris, Jared Hawkins and Jake Sharp all got hurt in their senior years which is very unfortunate:

Wolf Pack Football: Lippincott stopped short on sixth-and-one

By Dan Hinxman "¢ dhinxman@rgj.com "¢ December 3, 2009

Nevada running back Luke Lippincott is going to miss the team's bowl game, and of course he's disappointed about that. But that's not the worst part of his toe injury.

"I wish I could have been more healthy for Boise," Lippincott said Wednesday, referring to the Wolf Pack's 44-33 loss to Boise State at Boise on Friday in what amounted to be the Western Athletic Conference championship game.

"I thought I could fight through it," he added. "In warm-ups it felt good. I practiced (last week) but hadn't really gotten tackled. That first tackle in Boise, that extra push -- I like to fall forward and get that extra yard -- but that first tackle, I was kind of limping after that."

The injury limited him to one carry for six yards, but he did play the entire game on the kickoff and kick-return teams. He returned three kickoffs for 74 yards.

Lippincott received a sixth year of eligibility because of two separate season-ending knee injuries, and now his career ends one game earlier than expected. The Pack, 8-4 overall and 7-1 in the WAC, is headed to a to-be-determined bowl game. He said he has every intention of being on the sidelines for that one.

Here's a link to the entire article about Lippincott's career at Nevada:

Brandon Wegher just secured the Orange Bowl victory with a nice long touchdown run for the predominantly white Iowa Hawkeyes over the majority black Georgia Tech squad. He's got 120ish yards on the night while averaging over 7 yards a carry plus his TD. Not bad for a pigmently challenged true freshman

I loved watching this game. The nearly all black defense of Georgia Tech was talking smack to Brandon whenever he had the ball. You could read their lips. Ain't no white boy gonna run on me. Lol. He never backed down. Remember that this kid is only a freshman. Amazing performance. Way to go Brandon. Way to go Hawkeyes.

This kid will be one of the best running backs in college within the next couple of years. Speed, vision and he is very tough. I love it!

Wegher saved himself with a brilliant performance when it mattered most. He has finished the season by making that important 4 YPC mark to get the DWFs off his back (for the most part) for a freshman. He'll likely have to split carries again next year, but there's no way he falls to more than 3rd string behind Hampton and/or Robinson after this performance if he works hard and stays healthy. What a game. Ferentz is fair and will give Brandon a chance to continue to earn 1/2 the carries next year as it stands now. Hampton isn't owed anything unless he earns it after missing a whole season after having a pretty impressive year in 2008 as Greene's "back up".

BTW, Robinson finished with 4.6 YPC, but Brandon would have been right behind at 4.4 YPC with a longer long run of 70 yards if not for that bogus holding call. Wegher's long runs and nose for the endzone will not go unnoticed by coach Ferentz!
