No problem white lightning. Check out the article on Mount Union's DIII playoff win today and the performance of RB Nate Kmic, who had another unreal game.

(ALLIANCE, OH)--No. 1 ranked Mount Union College rolled up a season-high 420 yards rushing and 676 yards of total offense in a 56-0 shutout of Randolph-Macon (VA) College in an NCAA First Round Playoff game Saturday in Alliance, Ohio.

All-American senior running back Nate Kmic (Delta/Delta) led the way for the Purple Raidersas he had 290 yards rushing on 20 carries with four touchdowns. The performance took Kmic over 7,000 careerrushing yards and with 7,214 yardsis 139shy ofNCAA Divsion III career rushing leader, R.J. Bowers of GroveCity, PA (7,383).

Senior quarterback Greg Micheli (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) completed 11 of 13 pass for 218yardswith a touchdown to sophomore A.J. Claycomb (Medina/Medina), whilejunior wide receiver Cecil Shorts III (Cleveland/Collinwood) had four catches for 84 yards.

This was all more than enough for a defense that allowedjust 53 yards rushing and 207 total yards even though Randolph-Macon (6-5) had the football for 36 minutes with16 more plays than the Raiders.

Senior defensive back Daryl Ely(Winter Springs, FL/Winter Springs) had a 62-yard interception return for a touchdown, junior defensive back Drew McClain (Newark/Licking Valley) hadtwo of teams three sacks, while juniorRoger Stewart(Pleasantville/Fairfield Union) andsophomore Sam Kershaw (West Jefferson/West Jefferson) each had nine tackles to lead the unit.

Steve Matthewsrushed 35 times for 50 yards and quarterback Austin Faulknercompleted 14-of-31 passes for 154 yards to lead Randolph-Macon.

Micheli had a 13-yard touchdown run as Mount Union marched 64 yards in five playson game's opening drive to start the scoring. After a Yellow Jacket drive stalled on the next possession, the Raiders struck again in just two plays at Kmic had the longest run from scrimmage on the season with a 67-yard scamper to make it 14-0. Ely's interception return came on the ensuing drive and gave the Raiders a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Both teams traded the football on three possessions in the second quarter before Mount Union got the ball back with under two left in the half. The Raiders went 73 yards in just three plays, highlighted by a 37 yard run by Kmic and Micheli nailed Claycomb from16 yards out toset the score at 28-0 at the break.

The second half featured a heavy dose of Kmic as he had scoring runs of 9, 19 and aone-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 49-0.

Backup running back Scott Panchick (Natrona Heights, PA/Natrona Heights) finished the scoring with a 31 yardtouchdown run.

Mount Union will host Hobart (NY) College, 33-15 winners over Lycoming (PA) College, in a second round game next Saturday at noon in Alliance.

Collin Mooney moved up to 9th in rushing yardage in the FBS, while Toby Gerhart moved up to 18th this week. Michael Desormeaux is now 38th, Jake Sharp is 63rd, Eric Kettani is 69th, Derek Lawson is 94th, Todd Newell is 101st, Jared Hawkins is 105th, Chip Bowden is 111th, and Chase Clement is 113th.

The drop to 6 whites in the top 100 isn't bad considering that a few had bye weeks.

Congratulations to Toby! He will for sure finish out his last year, considering that he goes to Stanford and I'm sure he wants to get a diploma from such an academic prestigious school. My concern (as others have mentioned in the past) is his baseball interests. However, if he can replicate the performance he had this year next year, hopefully he will come to the conclusion that he can make an immediate impact on an NFL team (if he gets the shot) rather than waiting a few years on a farm team before he gets an MLB roster spot.

Gerhart should return; he's only ranked 26th by NFLdraftscout.com. Forget baseball! His talent is on the gridiron! If he can go two seasons in a row like this at Stanford and maybe increase his YPC to the low 6's rather than 5.4 even the NFL might take notice. They won't be able to question his durability or ability to play in the NFL "if" he can perform decently at the combine.

This year Knowshown Moreno, Cedric Scott, C.J Spiller, Shone Greene and Chris Wells might declare so it is loaded at tailback also with Javon Ringer and James Davis both Seniors already!

I think Jake Sharp should come back for another year as well, Sharp is unfairly only ranked 34th at RB by NFLdraftscout.com for his class right now; utter BS!

This will be my first Thanksgiving in the U.S. in 10 years.

Family, food, and football: a real nice combination this year.

Colonel,

there is a running talent that we have COMPLETELY missed this year. i just happened to stumble across him this weekend...

Kent State's starting quarterback Julian Edelman is probably the fastest quarterback in the country. in fact, in addition to quarterbacking duties he has recently taken over as the Golden Flashes' starting punt returner. how often does that happen?!?
smiley32.gif

in typical fashion for this terrible team, Kent State has miscast(e) this incredible athlete. while he is a solid if unspectacular quarterback, Edelman (6-0, 198-pounds) is an electrifying athlete in the open field with the ball in his hands.

he leads KSU with 1,203 yards rushing on the year (nearly double the starting tailback), averaging better than 6 yards-per-carry, for a team-leading 13 touchdowns.

Jimmy, I remember Edelman from the KSU preview I did back in the summer, but I totally forgot about looking up his stats. Thanks for the info!
smiley32.gif
Julian is currently ranked 12th in the country in rushing yardage, just 3 spots behind Collin Mooney. What a shame that he is where he is and will probably be totally ignored by the NFL.

He's also returned punts from time to time this year. Quite a vote of confidence in his athletic ability considering the team has a playmaker like Jarvis on the roster AND Edelman's started at QB.

Is search totally broken? The site function doesn't work and I tried a directed search through Yahoo and got no results.

What am I talking about?
I can't find any mention on the Caste Football website of Scott Buisson.

Who is Scott Buisson?
2008-11-26_021240_Buisson.JPG

Scott Buisson is the record-setting Quarterback for the University of Arkansas-Monticello. He ranks fifth in DII in total offense this season. He has run for 1,319 yards and 12TD and passed for 2,700 yards and 25TD. He was in Sports Illustrated earlier this year for his performance in a game against Henderson State in which he passed for 424 yards and 5TD and ran for 216 yards and 2TD. He is the only player in NCAA history at any level to accomplish this feat (400/200). He also completed 20 consecutive passes in the game, tying the DII record. He was named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Year.
Scott is only a Sophomore this year. UAM's season is over, but Scott is someone to keep an eye on in the future.

Riddlewire, thanks for the info on Scott! The name sounds familiar, probably because they play Delta State in football. Definitely someone we need to keep an eye on.

Take James Berezik off the list -- indefinitely suspended, got MIP and resisting arrest after his record-breaking game on Saturday.

Ha, funny that that story was from the Ashland paper -- maybe some of the locals are still bitter about JB running all over them!

So he had some beers. He is a college kid. That is not a reason to supend him from the team. Maybe make him skip a half or a game at the most. College kids drink. It has always been that way. It doesn't make him a criminal. What a shame.

Resisting arrest probably wasn't the smartest move.

Weber State has made the FCS playoffs for the first time in 17 years, and their main RB is white. Trevyn Smith is currently ranked 10th in the country in rushing with 1,344 yards and 18 TDs, leading the Big Sky Conference for the third year in a row! Trevyn is only the second player in the history of the conference to do so!

Trevyn is married, and his daughter has a rare developmental problem with her optic nerves, making her practically blind. Here's an article describing their ordeal in trying to find a way to help her see.

RB Trevyn Smith and WR Tim Toone will lead the Wildcats tomorrow as they travel to Cal Poly who have their own white stars in QB Jonathan Dally and RB Ryan Mole.

Several white men had great games today so far, but some won't be playing anymore this year. Grand Valley, Delta State, Wofford, Texas State, and Colgate all lost today. Still, we have a lot to look forward to in the next few weeks.

Stats complete. We had 2 whites run for over 100 in the FBS this short schedule week and 3 whites run for over 100 in the FCS. Great job gentlemen!
