Chris Tomlinson set a British National record in the LJ today in Paris.
He jumped 27ft 4-3/4inches.
He broke the record set by Greg Rutherford who also jumped in Paris. His jump today was 27ft 1-1/2 inches.

White men can jump and boy can they jump far. I have never been more excited about white long jumpers. All around the world. It just seems like the hot event now. Hoping at least one or two of our guys can be on the medal stand at the world champs!<div></div><div>Rutherford along with Watt is one of the guys with the most upside. Rutherford has sprinter speed and he just needs to stay healthy. By London next year, I see him doing something special. Watt continues to improve. Hopefully Sebastian Beyer can get back to form soon.</div>

Mitchell Watt of Australia, jumped a world leading and new Australian record, of 8.54 in Stockholm.
That's 28 feet!

I've been looking for a video of the jump. Hopefully someone will post it soon on youtube. I'm suprised universal hasn't posted it yet. Mitchell Watt is probably the most consistant white long jumper on the planet. I would be very dissapointed if he doesn't win a medal at the world champs.

What a huge jump mate! Mitchell Watt is just becoming a superstar. No doubt about it. They are talking about him everywhere and
I think he will beat this record soon. You can tell that he is trying out different techniques to see what works best for him. I can't wait to
see the Long Jump Finals at the World Champs.

Another white long jumper burst onto the scene today.
Marcos Chuva of Portugal jumped 8.34 meters today, at the same meet where Ramil Guliyev was running.
Never heard of Marcos before, but his jump equals 27ft 4-3/8inches.
White long jumpers are dominating the event this year.
I don't know that this has ever happened before - and I mean ever!

When the IAAF validate it he'll be 6th this year on their list. A big up from 8.03.
And I think he did it on his 22nd birthday - a nice little present

If you go to the boys and youth longjump stats on IAAF.org it seems like white men are just dominating this event now. I wonder if blacks around the world are so enamored with sprinting they are slowly giving up the jumps. Also there are just a ton of 110 high hurdlers coming out of nowhere to ran among the best at the ages of 16-19. Great and spectacular news for track fans.

forgive me if I posted this before. I couldn't find it on this thread.

This is what a 27'4" jump looks like followed by his record 28 foot, a very nice number.

He has a low arm running action, throws it down backwards but remember he has never considered himself a sprinter and only started taking long jumping seriously sine AFTER Beijing. He didn't even watch the long jump in Beijing.
He scored a 100m pb this year with a legal 10.31 and thinks a bit more speed and technique lie inside him somewhere, but best of all he is never overawed by the competition. Very cool!

He is the favorite to win the gold. I would love to see him continue to go further and I see no reason why he can't. Give him a few more years and we could see a jump in the 8.70 - 8.80's range. That would be incredible. I had no idea he was that fast!

This is probably the lowest point in recent US long jumping history. The US needs more talent and it's been ages since they have had a White American represent the US at major meet.

Seem's to me we've not only lost good quality of long jumpers we've also lost the coaching ability.

Interestingly, Frayne's uncle Bruce was first leg of Australia's 4 x 400 team (outrunning Sunder Nix and leading into the changeover) with Darren Clarke at LA in 1984 where 1980 silver individual medallist Rick Mitchell just faded out of silver medal position in the last 80m of the final leg. So there's some pedigree there and some support too.

Great days lie ahead in the mens and womens long jump. Europeans and Australians have really made some nice progress in this event. I think we could see one or two guys medal just like in the 2011 World Championships last summer. I would like to see the German Jumpers get it going soon. Reif and Bayer are very talented too. My pick for the gold is still Mitchell Watt. I keep waiting for him to really get a huge jump of around 8.60-8.70! He is capable of it with his good speed and great technique.

Big hopes for her at the Olympics of 2012. Greeks are looking too strong for all the jumping contests this year.
We got world indoor current champ at high jump, Hondrokoukis with 2.33 this year, we got Louis Tsatoumas with 8.38 in long jump, Phillipidis in pole vault with 5.76 and Papachristou now with 14.77 in triple jump.............. imagine if Greek state had the money&equipment&steroids&technology and gave motivation to Greek kids to get involved with track and field like USA or England does with their Negroes? And they call them "natural athletes"? Please!!!!!!!!

The majority of our guys are through safely to the finals of the mens long jump. My money is still on Mitchell Watt of Australia.:grin:
