yup, his first brace of offensive TDs (he scored last year on an interception return)! Go Mike!
 
btw according to NFL.com Dane Looker, Rams WR just had a TD saving tackle on Lions' Dan Campbell... is he playing defense now as well?
 
Cooley is getting catches because of two things: first, Portis is back, and Cooley no longer has to stay in to block all the time, and second, the offense is finally clicking with Saunders' 700 page playbook. Defenses have to respect Mark Brunell's arm again(he's thrown some deep balls now) and and so Cooley can find the seam just like last season.

Cooley's long reception sadly, had him chugging down the field.

I was hoping the Patriots would give the ball to Heath Evans close to the goal line. They did, once, but from about 7 yards out. Unfortunately he only managed 2 yards up the middle.
 
however no sign of David Thomas or Garrett Mills for Patriots...

according to game book, Thomas got on but Mills was inactive...Edited by: backrow
 
Did anyone see Kevin Kaesviharn pop one of the Patriots--I think it was WR Doug Gabriel--today?? I just caught the end of it when he was trying to figure out where he was at. I'm sure it will be in the highlights.
 
Petty criticism here. As I post this over on CNNSI they have two links to two different articles about two of today's NFL games.

The first article is entitled "Mcnair's heroics carry Ravens over Chargers."

The second article is entitled: "Colts 4-0 after Peyton's late dash sinks Jets."

Catch that? Mcnair's "HEROICS" and Peyton's "LATE DASH."

Manning led a heroic drive in the final two minutes after seeing the Jets return a kickoff 103 yards for a TD to take the lead. Peyton ran in from 1 yard out to save the game and all he gets is "late dash" while Mcnair (The Crowning Jewel) is heroic.
 
I believe I overheard the announcers saying that Matt Jones was suffering from some sort of injury and therefore was not on the field any more.

So far this year the only whites I'm aware of that have run the ball are Alstott and Evans.

Can someone prove me wrong please?
 
other than QBs, the only other white players to run a ball in National Football League this season are the two above mentioned (Alstott and Evans) and Mike Karney, Saints FB (1 carry for 1 yard) and Brad Hoover from Panthers (1 carry for 4 yards)...

sad but true (plus Alstott doesn't get anything but short yardage carries nowadays anyway)

4 white players have run the ball, all of them fullbacks. I still have hope that Brian Leonard can get drafted by a team that will gave him a decent amount of carries similar to Alstott.

That might be hoping for a lot in today's NFL though...

as long as it's similar to Alstott in his best years under Dungy...

PS i just noticed that in game book from Ravens - Chargers cornerback Steve Gregory was listed as number 28 S.Gregory... no position next to his name...
 
Matt Jones is already losing his tenuous spot as the Jags' #1 WR, as I predicted in an earlier post. Reggie Williams has come on in the past few games and taken advantage of the injury to Jones to become the clear go-to guy in Jacksonville. While Jones continues to rest his "groin" injury, his team uses it as an excuse to minimize his role. Coach Jack Del Rio is already talking about "resting" Jones the next game, so he can "fully heal" his injured groin. Sorry to be a broken record, folks, but this is exactly what I've been talking about- the few white skill position players who are allowed to play cannot let little injuries like this push them to the back of the line (or maybe the bus). That's exactly what is happening now to Jones, who is far and way the most talented white skill position player in the league.
 
I agree. And I think Jones is also on just about the worst possible team, one where he will have a very difficult time anyway even if fully healthy, between his over-rated quarterback and Jack Del Rio's obvious infatuation with black players.


Other than Warren Moon, who unlike Leftwich was an excellent "pocket quarterback," receivers rarelyhave big seasonswhen a black quarterback is throwing them the ball. That, Del Rio, and the Caste System with its totalitarian strictures against white stars at many positions, are all working against Matt Jones.


Interesting too how Reggie Williams, considered a big-time bust until now, has been inspired by competition with Jones to step up his game. It's another indicator of the racial dynamics at work in football. Whites have to learn to do the same, but as long as whites are psychologically defeated in football, basketball and sprinting it won't happen.


BTW, Jones suffered a hamstring injury yesterday in addition to his ongoing groin problem that caused him to miss the second half against Washington.
 
wow, talk about a bad luck... i bet that within couple of weeks we will hear all about how overrated Matt Jones is, how he never truly adapted to wide receiver position and how he should be nothing more than a backup...

Dustin Fox is active btw but i've only seen him on special teams so far.
 
My guess is that Jones will sooner or later be forced to the position that he almost had to play right off the bat despite his 4.3 speed -- tight end.

You know, I really believe he would be unstoppable with Manning throwing the ball. Look at how fanstastic Bennet and Volek were together. Without Volek, Bennet is merely the option of last resort while on the field.
