Ertz signing for 1 year up to 5 million for Commander. Good signing for Howell or maybe even Drake Maye soldi safety valve and slot option. Not much in the way of tight ends there either so good place to go.

Has two big-time messed up feet, which caused him to fall all the way from the first round to early second. Now if he had "boring feet" like so many White linemen have to go with the tiny little arms, Newton would be a FA. Does anyone wanna bet that this guy won't be a bust?

Newton needed surgery for a Jones fracture after needing surgery on his opposite foot earlier this year. Once projected as a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Newton fell to the No. 36 pick with teams exercising some concerns on his feet. He was scooped up by Washington, who hope to add him to a healthy defensive line. Schultz reports the Commanders are optimistic that Newton will make a full recovery before the regular season.

McCaffrey is an explosive route-runner who knows the importance of body control and manipulation. He comes from an exceptional NFL bloodline and it shows. Bringing in both of his targets for 30 receiving yards represents another big step in a positive direction.
The former Rice star also made his presence felt as a gunner on special teams. This was somewhat surprising and added another string to his bow. Just how much time he'll see in this discipline if given prominent reps on the offensive rotation is anyone's guess. However, it's not a bad trick to have up your sleeve.
There's a growing belief the Commanders can get some immediate output from McCaffrey while he develops all areas of his game as a rookie. Dependability is everything in the NFL, he's got that in abundance.

McCaffrey strictly worked with Washington's second- and third-string offenses in the first two preseason games, but a lack of talent at WR behind Terry McLaurin suggests it may not be long before the rookie third-round pick gets regular playing time. Dyami Brown and Olamide Zaccheaus have been splitting perimeter snaps opposite McLaurin on the first-team offense, with Dotson getting most of the slot work pre-trade. McCaffrey has worked both outside and inside this summer, and at 6-foot-2 with 4.46 speed he isn't necessarily limited to the slot.

I like how they have to point this out to the DWF's. White receiver = slot, in a DWF mind, just like white RB = FB. Both the Commanders' official website and OurLads list Luke McCaffrey as one of the team's three starting WRs. Let's hope so and that the rookie QB Daniels is able to throw capably. Looking forward to watching Luke, Ladd McConkey, and Ricky Pearsall when he's able to go this season. Three highly drafted White receivers taken in the same year, hasn't happened in a long time. Brock Bowers too of course, and the four White rookie RBs, another event that hasn't happened in ages even if only two of them were drafted.
