USA Men's 22 Players Under New Coach Jurgen Klinsmann

The biennial Under-20 World Cup is underway. In its present iteration, the tournament basically serves as a meat market for European-based scouts, who will then make bloated bids to stock their respective clubs' lists of loanees.

... I'm filing this under the Klinsmann thread because his son is the first name on the roster, emblematic of the nepotism and globalism-themed social engineering at work in place of meritocracy. This roster of 7 whites out of 21 is the legacy of Klinsmann's vision for both the US and the world.

He made a great save at the 0.58 second mark but watch what he does at 1.15. Of course, these guys are just kids so one can't be too critical.

An easy enough mistake, as at 6'4 he is not your typical Elliot Rodger. Jurgen's wife is "Chinese-American" but appears to be a "happa" herself. I can't find anything about her parents online except a one-off remark that they immigrated from China. I would guess that Jonathan Klinsmann is in fact about 1/4 Han Chinese (which is worthy of an asterisk, but few spectators would ever notice... and I could be wrong).

In any case, his anointment as the starter seems conspicuous not just because he's the ex-coach's son, but because in his most recent club season he started 12 of 17 games for a piddling Cal college team that finished the year 5-10-2. There are easily a dozen other keepers in his demographic (US-based collegiates under 20) with better resumes for the role.

Anyway, Josh Sargent looks like a bonafide prospect and is still just 17. De La Torre might be the most important player on the pitch for the USA. Not enough reason to tune in, but hopefully we see their names again in a few years' time.

FWIW Jurgen Klinsmann was not only at the match but sitting on the bench with the subs/trainers etc.

I do like that the United States is giving a lot of white players chances, even if the starting XI doesn't always show it. A lot of new guys, and also guys who've played for the previously getting back in the fold. I know Lichaj started the last game. They also have guys like Jordan Morris (whom Heretic mentioned), Paul Arriola, Chris Pontius, Kelyn Rowe, Matt Miazga, Dax McCarty, etc. Hopefully some of these guys will stick. Matt Besler has also been playing again.

A side note, it's amazing a guy like Gyasi Zardes still suits up for the national team. Sure, he's fast, but he can't do much else, and often gives the ball away.
