Acker isn’t White fyi.
Hopefully some of these RBs enjoy better fates than the 2015 class.
Thanks,
Leo. I'm surprised I missed that one. I'll make the necessary changes (delete his name). That said, I double checked your prospects list, while I got Acker wrong, I also counted
Josh Thompson of LSU as black (he's White). So my overall numbers are probably the same?
Bucky, I'm very surprised Tomzak was already "cleansed". Hopefully it was due to a nagging injury and he'll get another shot. That said, any White rookie cut prior to playing pre-season games, is the longest of long shots to ever play again in the NFL. Off the top of my head, I only
remember one that beat the odds -- Mid 2000's, Cleveland cut LB
Chase Blackburn real early (May). He soon after hooked up with the N.Y. Giants and had a very long NFL career -- as a player and a coach.
Thanks
Freethinker, I agree Christian and Skatt have helped quite a bit. These RB's still have a tough road ahead, and their signing bonus were not hefty. But they should be in a better position than the class of 2015, as I reasoned above. Although
Zach Zenner and
Tyler Varga did make opening game rosters as rookies. Varga "retired" real early due to "concussions". No doubt concussions can be serious long term, but my guess is Ty probably walked away realizing the caste system was "mostly" undefeated, particularly against blonde, Swedish born, Canadian RB's from Yale?
Also, it's possible Atlanta will list
Cash Jones as a WR? Supposedly he's impressed in early workouts, but mostly as a slot receiver. Still can't believe Heidenreich went so low in the draft? Steelers got a 4th round talent (or better) in round 7. Crazy!
Another UDFA WR note -- from around 3 weeks ago?
Three players have realized their lifelong dream of signing an NFL contract only to retire less than a month later.
Alex Bullock, a wide receiver from South Dakota State, is the latest. He retired from the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday. He joins Le'Veon Moss (Dolphins) and Squirrel White (Bears) in this new trend.
Here are the 13 UDFA WR's I counted as White.
Hank Beatty, Tennessee Titans ~ $25,000 signing bonus,
$272,500 guaranteed (Part Asian)

***Rams, among the 32 NFL teams, pay the least (by far) in terms of signing bonus and guarantees. Dan Villari, Syracuse TE got $45,000 and $45,000 and was the highest paid (18 UDFA's signed)... Connors got 3rd most at 20k/20k
