Hope Machida can pull it out. It'll be nice to see Hughes back in the Octagon again and Sherk too for that matter.

The best case scenario would be Lyoto Machida (a Japanese-Brazilian) destroying Evans tonight, and Griffin beating him in a couple months.

Don't expect a quick fight tonight, as most of Machida's fights go to decision. Both fighters are undefeated.

If Griffin eventually gets the LHW belt...whites will officially rule the UFC.

Does anyone know when Shane Carwin will be fighing again? It would be sweet to see him eventually get a title shot.Edited by: Thrashen

Machida has knocked out Rashad Evans. Knocked him out cold. I have not seen the fight yet but from what I have read around the net Evans was up to his black taunting routine again by rubbing his nipples. Well he certainly deserved a good embarassing loss. I thought he had been given some preferential decisions in the past and his face shows he has taken a lot of wear and tear over the past half dozen fights. I said after his victory over Griffin that his next loss was right around the corner. I wonder if ESPN will show Evans crashing in highlights?

Now I just saw the fight. Evans went out like a fly that had been swatted. Machida was the pro and Evans looked amateurish. Wow, Machida really does have it all. Quick, slick footwork and he was stepping away from every Evans attack easily; a switch hitter with sledgehammer power in either hand; he leans back and flicks high kicks as fast as Evans could punch. Evans looked very nervous and frightened to exchange with Machida; and he was absolutely terrified of getting close enough to wrestle with him. Machida did not just win, he beat Evans to every strike and beat Evans at every grapple. Machida simply overwhelmed him! Evans looked like he did not even belong there let alone be an undefeated fighter. I hear Rampage is the next to get his chance to lay down.

Hey man I'm as pumped as anyone that Machida won, I was literally jumping up and down cheering but how can you call out Rashad for the nipple tweaking thing when its a Jackson Camp semi-tradition shared with guys like GSP and Keith Jardine who have done it to. Call him out for his crotch grabbing and trash talk but the nipple tweaking makes no sense.

I didn't "call him out", I had not seen the fight when I posted that and said so. I just posted what I read on the MMAshare forum. If GSP, Jardine, and Jackson do that they are poor sportsmen as well. I have never seen Fedor make a fool out himself.Edited by: Maple Leaf

I personally have Machida #2 p4p behind only Fedor as he is beating people in a fashion I have never seen before: an unstoppable combination of defense and offense.

But it gets even better. The only other 2 elite black MMA fighters (besides Evans) are Anderson Silva and Rampage Jackson. Both are at 205 now and will have to go through Lyoto to get the title. Rampage has ZERO chance of beating Machida and I'd pick Lyoto over Silva as well.Edited by: Liverlips

Is it me or does Machida seam to be really hitting with a viciousness that I could of swore he lacked in the first few fights I have seen him in. I mean he is just decking people. The Brazillian kid he fought before this has a dam good chin and Machida cracked it convincingly. Same with Evans. Don't get me wrong, I have known for a while that Machida is a good, accurate, fairly powerful puncher, however from what he has displayed in his last few fights he has the 1 punch knockout power that I thought he lacked. I agree with the consensus here. Machida will be the champion until he decides to retire, age catches him, or he just plain gets caught on his sweet spot by someone who can bang as anybody can get knocked out in a fight.Edited by: aussieaussie31

"Welcome to the Machida era" is dead on. This made my weekend and no guy should be grabbing his nipples, whether GSP or Rashad. Rashad never looked like he really wanted to be there, it's going to take one hell of a fighter to even give Machida a run for his money.

The only highlight I saw on ESPN was the Machida knockout being #6 on the top ten plays that happened on Saturday. Never saw any discussion of the fight result.

You are right Aussie. Machida was mainly a defensive specialist when I saw him against Tito. Now he is really bringing the pain on offense too.

I guess he took that "Machida is so boring" nonsense to heart.

If I was a young guy coming up in MMA, I would try to learn how to fight like Machida. At least imitate his style.

But guys-- simmer down on the Machida love. We'll see how it plays out in the next two years.

He possesses uncanny agility, timing, one-punch power and clear headedness (ability to focus on the goal/gamplan and not get distracted).

This may sound totally idiotic, but I view Machida as Chuck Lidell version 2.0-- the basic formula is still intact, but there has been enough changes that not many people see that the original prototype is still there.

The reason Fedor has been unbeatable is that he is the best striker and grappler in the world. Is Machida as good a grappler? I don't know. He may be. But I think if anyone is going to beat Machida at the moment it may be on the ground. The way he fights standing up he looks too intimidating and untouchable.

The problem is getting Machida to the ground ...

I doubt Lyoto is as good a grappler as Fedor but he doesn't have to be. He wins fights on his feet and it is hard to take him down (and he has a black belt in BJJ if you do).

Everyone is human and can be beat. But I predict a long, successful run at 205 for The Dragon.
