I noticed that Yves Edwards is on the undercard of UFC 58.He is fighting a white fighter from Canada named Mark Hominick, with a record of 9-4-0. Do any of you know much about him, and more importantly, does he have a shot at beating Yves Edwards?

Franklin fights Louisseau this go around.

From the beatings they gave their common opponent, Tanner, I give Franklin the edge. (Franklin didn't spend most of the first round with Tanner on his back a hair's breadth from being choked out, like Louisseau did.)

Nevertheless, Louisseau is an excellent fighter, and this is an important fight. Petition your various Gods, send out positive energy, and if you don't believe in that sort of thing, well dammit do it anyway!

I have heard little about Hominick but it seems as though Canada has more than it's share of tough fighters and hopefully he is one. On the other hand it may be that the UFC has decided to implement some type of affirmitive action program by sacrificing a young inexperienced caucasian to some poster boy chimp. Either way I will pray to Odin for my white brother's victory

By the way I read where Edwards dates some white skank and has made some anti-white remarks in the past. I hope Hominick disfigures him

I could care less who Edwards dates and I hope nobody gets disfigured. Hominick winning is good enough for me.

Don..thanks for posting that article on the UFC I sent you on the CF home page...I encourage fans here of the UFC to read it and vote on the link inside the article as to whether you like the UFC or not. It is going mainstream and lets hope the John McCains(Sen)of the world mind their own business. MMA is not boxing..it's not run by a bunch of criminals and needs little oversight.

Franklin wins!!! Just checked out the results on mma.com. Franklin wins by unanimous decision after 5 rounds. Crow(loisseau)puts on game and courageous fight but ends up looking like his face went through a meat grinder. Both eyes swollen..one swollen shut. Both throwing punches , elbows and kicks all night but Franklin keeps taking him to the ground and almost lands several rear naked chokes or submissions. Franklin tells corner he broke his hand after 3rd round but keeps on fighting...what warriors!!

I was reminded of one thing during the Loiseau - Franklin fight: Africans are indeed the faster sprinters.

Hominick over Yves.
Pierre over Penn.
Franklin over Loiseau.
Calzaghe over Lacy.

WOW.

Every single fighter that I was rooting for won tonight, even those whom I thought would lose (Hominick, Calzaghe.) The Caste System took a beating (literally) today!Edited by: White Shogun

It did take a beating tonight. Plus there was that sensational Duke-Nc game tonight and a bunch of great plays by white athletes. What a great day for CF..lets hope for more..WS..did you watch it on ppv...When I first started watching mma back in early 90's..I was jsut hoping for the white fighters to break even in wins and losses against the black fighters..but it's been sheer dominance by the white fighters with rare exception..especially in the well- hyped or championship fights.

I watched the show on PPV.

Franklin dominated Loiseau. The judges scored the fight 50-42, 50-43, 50-42. In a 10-point must scoring system, that means that at least 2 or 3 of the 5 rounds were scored 10-8. Yes, it was that bad.

I made the sprinting comment because there were many occasions during the fight when Loiseau would actually turn his back and literally run from Franklin. It was almost embarassing to watch.

A few of Franklin's takedowns were beautiful suplexes.

Loiseau defended the rear naked chokes by turtling up, but when he would try to stand up Franklin would slam him.

Franklin said he broke his hand in the first minute of the second round. He said it altered his game plan but he had to continue throwing punches with it.

I believe that if Loiseau had not run Franklin would have knocked him out second round.

The first round of the Hominick - Yves could have gone either way, but Hominick was the aggressor throughout, landed more shots, despite having the shorter reach. Hominick also had much quicker hand speed, which was surprising given the reputation of Yves. He hit Yves with a hard kidney shot, Yves dropped his arm and then took Hominick to the ground to avoid the stand up. But it was a mistake - Hominick set up the triangle and then prevented the slam defense and tapped out Yves. Great win.

BJ Penn made a big show after the fight with Pierre by saying that Pierre "looked" like he lost the fight, implying he disagreed with the decision. However, the cut under Pierre's eye was opened with a thumb, and he bled from his nose from a short clipping uppercut that clipped his nose. Other than that, Pierre was the agressor. He took Penn down a number of times, despite Penn's "world class jiu jitsu skills" and held him down a few times, too. Pierre had a couple of slams ala Matt Hughes, too. Pierre won the fight 2-1 and should not have been a split decision.

I was following the close to "live" play by play on mma.com and they said that Crow hit franklin with several good elbows, punches and kicks and although Franklin handily won and outclassed him..crow was still game and dangerous till the end. Was that your impression?.. Did thay hype the Griffin- Ortiz coming matchup? turning in for the night..read what you post later..long day

I disagree with their assessment of the fight. I don't think the Loiseau hit Franklin with any decent elbow shots the entire fight. He threw a lot of kicks that rarely landed, maybe a few to the body but thats it. He did rock Franklin in the 3rd but it was with a left hook followed by a straight right, not an elbow or a kick. If these guys failed to mention how many times Loiseau turned and ran I would not put any value in their review of the fight. They are probably taking their cue from Joe Rogan and whats-his-name, who constantly referred to Loiseau as a game warrior, who was hanging tough, etc. The truth is he ran a lot, was taken down frequently where upon he would immediately give his back and turtle up. He never once tried a submission or reversal and appeared to always be waiting for the ref to stand them up again.

It was an interesting fight to watch but again, look at the way the fight was scored: 50-42,50-43,50-42. Loiseau did not win one round and had at least 2 or 3 rounds scored 10-8. Does that sound like a guy who landed several good elbows, punches, and kicks? If he landed several, how many must Franklin have landed to win by such a lopsided margin?

I stand by my earlier comment: this fight went five rounds because Loiseau actually ran for much of the fight. On almost every occasion that Franklin threw a punch Loiseau would back off or literally, and I do mean literally, turn his back and actually run from Franklin. Run! I don't mean back step to avoid a kick, or evade a punch - I mean he actually gave his back to Franklin and SPRINTED AWAY. This happened every round.

Savage, Did you notice how much larger Edwards looked than Hominick? Edwards cuts weight to make 155 and Hominick says he's a natural 145 pounder! The kid is tough as nails and I felt sad when he mentioned his father having cancer. I hope the UFC considers opening up a 145 division and this young man takes the belt. I also thought BJ Penn intentionally thumbed St.Pierre. If you look at the replay Penn throws his left jab with the thumb up and pointed out instead of a conventional thumb tucked under fist. There is absolutely no reason to jab like that and I lost respect for Penn because of it. What kind of ******* try's to win a fight by possibly blinding his opponent. Franklin looked sharp and even with a broken hand easily defeated David Lousieau. I particularly enjoyed Edwards getting his ass handed to him by a smaller white fighter. Great night of fights!

dk, I don't know if you meant to ask me about Edwards and Hominick, or Savage, but I'll respond anyway.

Yes, I noticed that Edwards looked bigger than Hominick. Edwards was taller, heavier, had longer reach, and more ring experience than Hominick.

And was still beaten, rather easily, too, in my opinion. Edited by: White Shogun

Loisseau is a great athlete, highly motivated, in good shape, who trains with an excellent team.

Now what lame excuse can they possibly give to explain away or ignore the White man's dominance of MMA?

Also...
I noticed on that poll that 94% of responders think UFC should be legal. With such an overwhelming approval rating, what keeps the anti-UFC agitprop bandwagon going?

Give you three guesses and the first two don't count...but even though the Guess-Who-zits try to ignore it most of their media outlets they can't keep this utterly White dominated sport from geometric growth. UFC is an accident that went horribly, horribly RIGHT for us.

White Savage is right..the UFC is a accident that went horribly right for us. White Shogun,,mma.com did mention how many times Crow had run during the fight but the way they worded it made it seem necessary. Plenty of fighters have tapped out or quit in between rounds in the ufc so any guy that accepts his beating and can actually last 5 rounds with Franklin(running or not, where's he gonna go) has my respect. I have noticed alot of black fans and black celebreities attending the ufc..why is it so popular with them..maybe it hasn't registered with them the mostly white dominance...they could think that all changes with more of their participation. Every once in a while you get a Maurice Smith. Maybe it seems refreshing to them to see some tough cold-blooded white men..a far cry from what they see in everyday life.

Wrong.

You're not 'accepting a beating' when you run.

What's the point in running? Any untrained goof can get in a fight and run around the octagon for 5 rounds. It happens in boxing and is as lamentable there as it is in the octagon. In other words, it is honorable in your opinion to work towards lasting the duration of the fight rather than attempting to win. If you're not going to try to win, why fight?

Why run when you can bob and weave, block, counter, or shoot for the takedown? You run when you are outmatched and cannot think fast enough to come up with a viable solution to the problem in the seconds you have before another blow lands.

I don't respect Louiseau for running, or lasting five rounds. As a matter of fact, I respect him LESS for running. It's disrespectful, and any white fighter who had done the same would be lampooned mercilessly on the boards and forums of mixed martial arts.

I'd have respected Loiseau more if he had fought or attempted to counter Franklin and gotten knocked out than merely taking it the distance.

On a technical note, did anyone notice the way Franklin throws his punches?

He rolls the fist inward so that the thumb is point downward at an almost 45* angle or so,with the elbow pointing upward. I don't remember seeing this in his fight against Quarry. In that fight it looked like he knocked Quarry out with a natural straight left.

This was before he broke his hand, and he threw both his right and left with this technique.

I surmised it was to make contact with the first two knuckles of the hand as opposed to the lesser two. I'm not sure why he would do so other than that. Any ideas?

Did anyone else notice this?

And one last note before I let someone else take the reigns in this thread
smiley17.gif
:

Although whites are dominating the UFC and mixed martial arts, we shouldn't assume that they are racialist or that they believe it has anything to do with any innate ability of whites that makes us superior fighters. Most of the fighters all train with people of other races, including Franklin, who's Muay Thai coach is black, and for whom Jorge Gurgel is in his corner. Loiseau and GSP train together. And there are many more.

Mixed martial arts, in my opinion, foments respect among its participants more so than any other sport.

I am happy that white athletes are dominating this sport because it counters the negative image of the soft, milquetoast white man so prevalent in the media today. But I am not expecting these men to be flag waving white nationalists or to credit their success to the DNA of their race.

The success of whites in mixed martial arts can help bring down the caste system in two ways:

1) It desconstructs the carefully crafted media image of the soft, unathletic white man;

2) It helps young white men realize that they are not inherently athletically inferior to blacks.

And that is the formula for bringing down the caste system.

I din't see the fight White Shogun so I can only go on your report and the others I have read. Those reports stated that franklin was rocked a few times in the fight. Sometimes a fighter knows after a round or so that he has no chance especially with Crow's vision obstructed with his eyes swollen. Yes I respect a fighter more who goes down swinging trying like hell to find a way but anybody and I repeat anybody who can last 5 rounds with Franklin(pound for pound...maybe the toughest guy on the planet) has my respect. You are right a white guy would get castigated for running but there are forms of running.. are you trying to recover from a hit and buy time or was he just doing that the whole fight without really trying..If he was doing the latter then I concede your point .White Shogun.
I also agree with you that these guys are not white nationalists and I am glad they are not..this sport would not be as popular as it is if the public thought these were just a bunch of Aryans fighting. I also agree with your point that MMA is very mixed racially with who you train with and the friends you keep..you are also right about the respect for each other (usually) that the fighters have for other fighters..That's a good thing and it makes it a honorable sport to watch and not a human *******fight.
