No, I haven't watched any of the Batman films, very rarely watch anything new from Hollywood, just the very occasional series on cable that I stumble upon like this one. Considering it was on HBO I had no expectations at all but liked it enough to keep watching as it's well crafted and acted even as the main characters are brutal psychopaths. Farrell's Penguin (called Oz in the series) is so without a conscience he makes Tony Soprano appear like Mother Theresa by comparison.
Without giving anything away and from what I read on another site from comments by people who are familiar with the Batman movies and the background of this one, the series finale may lead to a sequel following up on the ending.
