Kornheiser is Jewish. That explains why his looks are irrelevant (see Bette Midler, Woody Allen, Richard Dreyfuss, Billy Crystal, Rosanne Barr, Adam Sandler, Tori Spelling, Jason Alexander and many, many more). For the rest of the world, looks are crucial to getting any job on television. If you see an ugly face on television or on the big screen, it's pretty easy to guess that actor's "religion."
It's become very difficult for anyone other than Jews and ex-players (except for the unlmited supply of blacks like Stephen Smith and Michael Smith) to get a job either announcing or commenting on sports on television. The few who do manage to slip through, like most of the ESPN jock sniffers (John Anderson, Kenny Mayne, Scott Van Pelt, Trey Wingo), have to be really "over the edge" and thoroughly objectionable enough to compete with the Chris Bermans and Linda Cohns.
The only place you still sometimes see truly knowledgable sports broadcasters is in local talk radio. However, these shows are dying out quickly, and the national, ESPN-type broadcasts that take their place feature the same kinds of "journalists,"
