BOXING NEWS

[h=1]Adamek to face Glazkov on November 16[/h]Boxing is back on network TV on Saturday afternoon, November 16th when Tomasz “Goral†Adamek takes on Vyacheslav “Czar†Glazkov on NBC. The 12-round match for Adamek’s IBF North American Heavyweight title on NBC. The fight has been sanctioned for the #2 position in the heavyweight division.
Adamek, 49-2, 29 KO’s, is coming off an August 3rd 10 round unanimous decision over Dominick Guinn on NBC Sports Network. Glazkov, 15-0-1, 11 KO’s, scored a second round TKO against Byron Polley on the same card. The November 16th afternoon broadcast will begin on NBC at 3PM ET.
“We are quite pleased to present this classic match-up between a tough, highly respected veteran and two-division former world champion in Adamek, and an exciting, young up-and-coming former Olympic medalist in Glazkov on our next NBC afternoon broadcast,†said promoter Kathy Duva.
“Being back on network TV for the third time in just 11 months makes this event that much more special. When Adamek appeared on NBC, last December, he brought the biggest television audience of 2012. We won’t be surprised if Adamek-Glazkov garners the biggest audience on broadcast or cable television for 2013, as well.
Duva added, “I cannot thank everyone at NBC Sports enough for this incredible platform and the support that they have shown for professional boxing over the past two years.â€
Fight venue details are being finalized and undercard fights will be announced shortly.

If Adamek (Ring #4 heavyweight) gets past Glazkov, he's looking at a shot at Wladimir Klitschko. If it happens, the fight would likely be at a stadium in Poland.

Because of Adamek's popularity in Poland, the fight would make more money than for example, Klitschko-Boytsov or Klitschko-Pulev in Germany.

But Tomasz is in for a difficult fight against a very good opponent on Nov 16. I predict Adamek will win by close decision.

Everybody likes Adamek but we all know he has no chance against Wlad.

It think they might be moving Glaskov up to this fight a little too quick. Adamek is very smart and a very gifted all around fighter. This will probably be semi close but I also see Tomasz Adamek winning. I will be watching it for sure. I do hope that if Glaskov loses this fight, he doesn't take it too hard as he has a long successful career ahead of him.

Adamek should win this fight fairly easily though it's likely Glazkov will win a few rounds. Adamek has too much experience and overall skills to lose this fight, though age is catching up with Tomasz. Maybe he will find the fountain of youth.

Agree with this. If Tom is what he was he will box Gerry to victory. Tom was almost always able to stay in and out of power. The only man he could not do that with was Vittles.

Vyacheslav Glazkov:
"I am very glad our bout is finally going to happen. I am ready for it 100% and I am ready to show good boxing." [Vyacheslav regarding sparring with Adamek] "It was long ago when we were in the ring (sparring). When we go in the ring this time it will be a war. I've had that experience before when I was fighting in the amateurs with my friends and my close team mates. It's not news to me."

Tomasz Adamek: "I am very happy I come back to Sands Casino. We had a good camp. I'm healthy. I believe we make a good fight with Glazkov for fans and for everybody. My dream is to be heavyweight champion."

How refreshing to see two fine sportsmen, instead of chest pounding posturing spitting simians!

I think it doesn't start til 9PM ET. Meanwhile, the odds seemed to have shifted some in favor of Adamek.

"This Saturday, former cruiserweight world champion Tomasz Adamek (49-2, 29 KOs) will fight Vyacheslav Glazkov (16-0-1, 11 KOs) in a 12-round IBF heavyweight title eliminator. The bout will take place at the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and will be televised by NBC Sports Network at 9 p.m."

I thought Adamek coming on the last three rounds may have edged it for him, especially in his hometown. The other guy gassed a bit, and Tomas took advantage.

Money aside, does either guy really want to get in with Vlad?

Glazkov would beat most of the other HWs though.

It was sad to see the warrior Adamek lose, he has a lion's heart.

Tom's speed and reflexes are fading fast. The Vitali fight hurt him greatly. He's never been what he was prior to that fight. I hope he quits and starts selling something else. He needs his body for another forty years at least.

Yes he should retire even though I thought the fight was closer than the score cards indicated. Taking on guys that are naturally a size larger than you is too much for a 35+ guy who has been in some real wars over the years. If the fight was a 15 rounder he might have had the Czar ready to in the 13th to 15th round as Glaskov was sucking wind pretty bad late and had a fatigued look to his face.

Glaskov is a good fighter but I was extremely disappointed with his performance against Malik Scott. I felt he lost that fight and was given a draw instead. Adamek was the third best heavyweight in the world just a few years ago but it seems he is done now. What a shame.
