I figured that it's time to give this guy his due.He is
probably in the same mold as Joe Montana.Tom Brady just
finds ways to win game after game.The Pats have won 20
straight games at home.They went 14-2 this season and
just keep getting better.Granted they have a great
defense but it's more than just that.Brady is a winner
and is trying to win his 3rd Super Bowl in 4 years.Can
you say Dynasty.He is just so relaxed back in the pocket.
I wish they would just play Kasper a little bit.Anyways,
good luck to him on winning another title.

Brady is very consistent on short passes and quick
slants. He throws an excellent bullet and has the strongest arm I
have seen. His one weakness is touch. He has tremendous skills in
moving in the pocket, and finding the open man. He has good
explosiveness for sneaks. However, announcers always critcize his
open field speed(he runs a 5 flat forty.).

I just checked the websites of NFL.com, ESPN, SI and The Sporting News. Not a single one of their headlines about yesterday's conference championships and the upcoming Super Bowl mentions Tom Brady. Hmm, I wonder if a black quarterback was going for his third Super Bowl win in four years that he would be similarly ignored. Somehow I just don't think so.

I think a lot of it has to do with Brady's nature.
Tom Brady is a very low-key guy. His rookie year, he could
not convince people at a gym that he played in the NFL. Other players
are doing shoe commercials(the Michael Vick experiance) or Chunky Soup
commercials. Is Brady even on the Visa commercial with most of
the team? Brady has always stayed out of the media and concerned
himself primarily with winning the game and his responsibilities as a
quarterback. Brady focuses on pocket motion, finding the open
man, and being durable. However, the media constantly attacks his
speed(he only runs about a 5.1 forty. He is notoriously slower
than Adam Vinatieri.) However, he is very explosive.

Donnovan McNabb has always been a media
favorite. I think he is a hard worker, but as always put an
emphasis on individual athleticism. This individual
athleticism(works on speed, agility, deep passing, and piling up stats)
makes him a media favorite.

I think McNabb's coloring is the biggest element in his being a media
favorite.

Brady is very cool under pressure, turns it up several notches in the big
games. As many have said, he seems to be unflappable. It will be
interesting to see how the media plays up the QB match-up.

(I am also hoping the post season did much to help out Big Ben down the
line -- I feel his potential is awesome, but he was a rookie anchoring a
team in a pressure cooker situation, the playoffs)

I hadnt really thought about stereotyping in the NFL all that much until
last week when McNabb highlighted the point about Black QB's in the NFC
Championship game.

I thought it was really strange timing because McNabb had really gone
out of his way during his entire career to play down ethnicity. But i had to
say that it was strange to bring this up when the league is dominated by
Black players now.

And i thought about the corner position and researched and found this
site after being banned by the mods at philadelphiaeagles.com for
posting the thread about breaking the color barrier.

Ive been waiting for 24 years for the Eagles to make it to the Super Bowl
and it was more important for him to prioritize his racial issue than talk
about bringing a championship to the organization and phans.

After the game I noticed how calm and cool brady is. In the interview he said the steelers had a great season and looked forward to the super bowl, what a difference from trotter who was interviewed on the field after the eagles game, he was spewing at the mouth saying how they are the best, this is a classic difference between black and white athletes.

Brady gets compared to Joe Montana, but I think he
resembles Johnny Unitas more. They both had similiar
stories. Unitas threw a pick his first pass, and Brady was sacked
his first play. Unitas and Brady both had tremendous pocket
prescence. Brady and Unitas are both symbols for being "clean
cut". They both were/are very clutch players. Also, they
are known for toughness.

Brady played the AFC championship with a 103 degree fever. That is Schilling-like.





They compare Manning to Unitas because of the same team and play
calling, but I think Manning resembles Montana more. They both
are great classic quarterbacks.

I saw a interview with Brady on ESPN tonight.They asked
him if it bothers him that no one wanted him until the
6th round in the nfl draft several years ago.He cracked
a huge smile and said it will always bother him.Tom plays
with a chip on his shoulder.It just goes to show how
little most scouts and coaches know.They measure every
thing by a 40 time,vertical,and strength.They go over
board.Brady is so cool under pressure and has worked his
tail off to get to where he's at.He deserves all of the
accolades.I want him to win another one.Maybe,it will
help the stupid scouts,and teams to realize that qb's
like Vick are not going to win Super Bowls!

You know its funny. Yesterday on ESPN radio, they wer talking about Brady and thy said something along the lines of...well, he's no Michael Vick! I was shocked. I guess they were talking about his running ability, but QB's are supposed to throw anyway. They just refuse to give him any credit!

Yeah, Brady is no Michael Vick. Unlike Vick,
Brady rarely makes foolish decisions(forget about the Miami game, the
Pats were not up for it.). Unlike Vick, Brady finds the open
man. Unlike Vick, Brady does not have an ego bigger than his
entire offensive line. Unlike Vick, Brady does not put stats
ahead of winning. So Sean, you can clearly see that Brady is no
Mike Vick.

They are right, Brady is no Vick, and thank God he's not. He doesn't have to depend on a biased media as does not so mighty Mike in order to get to the Pro Bowl! Brady takes care of business and goes home, the primadonnas should take a few lessons consider he's been to the Superbowl more than any of them ever will. He will win another one Sunday!

Very true. I couldnt believe it. What has Michael Vick done to even be in the same sentence as Brady. He's a good runner, but Frost and Crouch both could have been equally good, and with Crouch, probably better. But since they were white, they were forced into obscurity. Brady is ten times better than Vick!

Bob McGinn a sportswriter for the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel has written a piece which compares the quarterback position of the Eagles and the Patriots. He heaps praise upon McNabb saying he had a terrific season, is a rare athlete with a big arm etc. There is not a negative word about him, only positives.


On the other hand McGinn disparages Brady's athletic ability saying he is a below average to POOR athlete with an arm that isn't real strong!? You certainly get the impression that McNabb is a thoroughbred while Brady is a swayback nag. He cant even bring up Koy Detmer without adding a dig. The following is a snip from column.

The Eagles' Donovan McNabb had another terrific season. He threw more accurately, made better decisions and remained more than capable of running for first downs when opportunity arose. All week, McNabb has been asked if he must have a Super Bowl victory to be listed among the game's great quarterbacks. There is a tremendous amount of pressure on him. McNabb's improvement stems from paying closer attention to the mechanics of the position and having six years in the same offensive system and with the same coach. He is healthy, is a rare athlete and has a big arm. Little Koy Detmer is the backup. New England's Tom Brady, who had 33 on the Wonderlic, is a below-average to poor athlete who came out running merely 5.23 seconds in the 40-yard dash and with a 24 1/2-inch vertical jump. None of that matters, however, because Brady is the ultimate gamer. He knows where to go with the ball, gets it out in a hurry and seldom makes a bad play. These days, he stands much firmer in the pocket than in the past and is willing to take a shot if necessary. His arm isn't real strong, but he has pinpoint accuracy and has been surprisingly precise in the deep middle of the field. His backup, Rohan Davey, hasn't played much and doesn't seem to fit the system. Advantage: Even.

I'm so sick of hearing that Brady doesn't have a strong arm. I guess that 60-yarder he threw perfectly to Deion Branch against the Steelers was computer generated. Well at least he's a "gamer."

"Little" Koy Detmer? Why not "burly" or "fat" Rohan Davey? Reminds me of ESPN after Stokley's huge playoff games after the '03 season when he was called "tiny." Meantime he's about the same size as Marvin Harrison.

You guys watch the Simpsons? Homer ran a
touchdown/celebration dance academy and taught bad sportsmanship
intentiionally. Brady attends the academy and says. "But I like
to stand for good sportsmanship." Homer responds, "Quiet
you." Brady says, "Yes sir." Really funny. Showed
Brady positively. It also attacked the halftime shows and hype.

Tom Brady was methodical , precise, poised and smart. He made quite a few remarkable throws, the across field TD was fabulous and desrved much more attention from the commentators. His ability to go throught his reads and make the right throw in the face of a blitz is uncanny.


I must give McNabb credit for showing football fans what a superior passer he is. Though he threw three picks he could have had a few more, the refs gave one back to him for sure!And his clock management skills are about as bad as I have seen. He gave a clinic on how to play really dumb and have -NO CLUE-whatsoever in rallying the team with a sense of urgency! These are the things Brady does routinely with little acclaim.

You are right about McNabb.I was watching the supposed
2 minute drill run by him and the Eagles.It was a joke.
A pop warner team could run it better.It's called no
huddle and get the ball down field deep.Also work the
side lines to get out of bounds.It was comical.I am so
happy that the Patriots won as Brady is a class act.He
is one of the coolest qb's under pressure that you will
ever see and he is so accurate with his passes.AT 27 he
has 3 rings in 4 years.The Brady Bunch could be on top
for a long time which is fine with a classy guy like
him leading the way.Congrats to the Pats!

It has been said that Bellichick is a coaching genius, that may or may notbe true. I found a chart showing his record as head coach while in Cleveland and New England.


Bellichick's record before Brady was about 42 -54.reg. season 1-1 in post. I think Brady was inserted as a starter after two games in 2001 because of injuries to Bledsoe. Bellichick Was 5-11 As New England's coach in 2000, and I believe 1-1 in 2001 before Brady took the helm. At this point no one was calling a coach with a losing record a genius.


After Brady was given the helm, Bellichick began winning big time! New England then went on tocompile a 47-15reg. seasonrecord and a stunning never before seen perfect 9-0 in post season, culminating in three super bowls!! Not to mention setting a modern era winning streak. A win loss total of 56-15 ! Tom Brady was a sixth rounder picked at 199. In college his record was something like 34-4. He is a poster boy for the CASTE system.


I predict if he keeps this up, Tom Brady in a few more years may be nearly as good as Michael Vick.

Where did Tom Brady go to college at? I don't even remember hearing about him back then, but I do remember hearing something about a black superman at Virginia Tech oh i guess about 2,000 times. My how things change! College hype means nothing in the NFL, just ask Charles Woodson, Mike Rozier, or Micheal (The Mad Hype) Vick!

Brady wasn't even the starter much of his time at Michigan. Drew Henson was more heralded and usually started though Brady was in the mix at times, too.

For some reason I thought Michigan, but I said nah, no way could he get ignored there. Wrong again. Well, he's a lot better than the last dynasty qb we had, Troy Aikman, so they better give him some credit.

Don,it's the exact opposite of what you wrote.It was Drew Henson who couldn't unseat Tom Brady as the starting QB.In Drew's freshman year Brady was a junior and it was Tom who got all the starts while Henson saw only spot-duty and mop-up time.It wasn't until Henson's junior year,after Brady left,that he was able to take over as the main man.Henson started 8 games in that junior year which were the only 8 starts of his career.
