Toby needs to eat a big meal on Thanksgiving but save some leftovers. They need to give him the ball 25-30 times on Saturday. This is his time to shine on national tv and really impress the voters. I will instantly become a fan of any nfl team who drafts this kid. I will even go buy his jersey. Just give the kid the rock and let him run with it.

Here is my prediction for Saturday's game and etc.

Score: Stanford 28Notre Dame 10

Toby Gerhart: 25 carries 196 yards 3 TDs

Side bar: Ingram 43 yards on 15 carries. Florida steam rolls Alabama!

Hopefully this will seal the deal in Toby's favor.

Man o' man...I'm hoping Toby puts up 200+ & a 2-3 TDs on the Irish. He needs to distance himself from overhyped "affletes" Ingram & Spiller (who he's bigger & stronger than).

FYI

Notre Dame
FBS Rushing Defense
#80 160.27YPG 4.62YPC 14TD

The Irish stiffen on the goal line. They don't give up near as many rushing TDs as other teams near them in the defensive rankings. But they do give up a significant amount of rushing yardage between the 20s. They have played a mix of very good and very bad rushing teams. Most of the good ones were 'finesse' rushing teams, though, like Nevada, which they shut out. The team most like Stanford on ND's schedule is USC. In that game, the Irish yielded 121 yards on the ground and 2TDs in a 34-27 loss. This looks like a tough game for the Cardinal.

Gregg Doyel from CBS:

And if the winner is Stanford running back Toby Gerhart, that'll be strange in a whole new direction. He would be the first white running back to win since Penn State's John Cappelletti in 1973, and if that's an uncomfortable fact to be confronted with, take it up with all those people who have written in recent years -- and written correctly, I may add -- about the dearth of white running backs. Southern California wanted Gerhart to play linebacker, by the way. Just like USC did to Brian Cushing and Miami did to Dan Morgan. We'll never know what kind of college runners Cushing or Morgan would have made, but Gerhart has been the most consistent back in the country, and with 1,531 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns in 11 games, he has been consistently great.

Since 1973, huh? Man, has it been that long! Very nice post you made there, GLS!

WP no white has won the Heisman as a running back since 1973.

Gerhart in a fair world should win both the Doak Walker Award and the Heisman Award. The only thing I don't want to see is for him to get the Heisman Jinx that alot of qb's have went through. Even worse yet would be for him to win it like Eric Crouch and never get to stay at his position and be out of the nfl within two years. Crouch got screwed as bad as anyone.

Come on Toby. We need a monster game on Saturday Night. I got my favorite drinks of choice on ice just waiting for Touchdown Toby!

Thanks for the compliments on the highlight video. As for 2009 one, here it is
Toby Gerhart 2009 highlights It is still processing so it might take a little while for the video quality to be 100 percent. Its best to watch it in fullscreen, for some reason the small screen cuts off more of the video.

I was going to wait until the season is over with to make it, but since he is in the Heisman race and the next game is on national television this weekend I decided to put it up now, I can always add to it later and put a new song at the end. The video gets the most hits right after he has a big game. So I wanted people to have a 2009 video to look at after he runs wild on Notre Dame for 200+ yards and 4 tds. If they thought they had a problem with "White fullbacks" they are in for a big surprise.

Toby Gerhart is a special back, hes got everything you want in a prototypical back but I wouldnt discredit Hester. Hester might not be on Toby's level but he is still a good back. He is one of the few backs that doesn't have to get into a rhythm to start running well, you can put him in at any time and he will do well, and thats pretty much how he was used at LSU, put in whenever the offense was struggling and not having it really revolve around him. The whole reason they went to a national championship was because of him, I cant count how many short yardage situations he converted that kept LSU in games. Look at Les Miles and LSU since he has been gone. The only problem with Hester is that he willingly accepted the role of fullback and only had one season at halfback at LSU. He even bulked up this offseason in order to become a "better fullback."

Toby has always been a a halfback and chose Stanford because they would play him at halfback. He knows about the discrimination White backs face and has openly talked about it. He will not settle for being a battering ram, he has other options if the NFL wishes to convert him to another position, he is a mechanical engineer major(21 credit hours this semester so he will be pretty much done) and he also has baseball to fall back on. He has such a great balance of speed and power that I can't imagine him being converted to fullback. He might be called a fullback in the same way Alstott was called a fullback when he wasn't lead blocking, but I don't think he will ever become a lead blocker.

Please try to spread the highlights around to every dwf who thinks Ingram is the better back and more deserving of the Heisman. Not sure how to embed itEdited by: dwid

You keep outdoing yourself dwid. I can't belive how talented you are. You make the best videos on youtube.com We are so lucky to have you here. I love Toby Gerhart. He is the best running back since Luke Staley. I have my hopes set so high for this kid. He is the kind of guy that parents would like their kids to look up to.

Thanks again my man. You are teh best at what you do!

Thanks for the compliments , Im glad you guys like it. Thanks for spreading the link around Colonel_Reb.

As for the music, yes it is Danzig for the first two songs and the last one is Celtic Frost. As for the other video someone asked who it was, it is Amebix which is a punk band.

I'm still having a hard time convincing DWF's that he is more impressive than Ingram. Im thinking maybe I should have cut the time down because most dwf's have the attention span of a 5 year old, but I had a hard time making it any shorter, every single play I left on there had something that impressed me, I guess DWF's are really blind.

I am open to suggestion if anyone thinks it should be shorter and has any ideas of which runs they think are the most impressive and which ones could be left out so I can make a shorter version for DWFS as they seem to be more impressed with a 3 min video of Ingram with less impressive runs.

Can't wait for Toby to run all over Notre Dame. Seems like White runners have their best games against them, Vince Murray, Sam McGuffie etc. It is on national television so he will get a good bit of exposure. The only problem with the game is, it will be on ABC in every part of the U.S. except SEC country where it will be aired on ESPN2 and Georgia vs Georgia Tech will be aired on ABC. I Know Notre Dame hasn't had a good year but neither has Georgia.Edited by: dwid

dwid, the only recommendation I can make is that when you make the new clip that includes the Notre Dame game, just show the actual play or replay from each good run that is most impressive. In other words, just show each play once. That will save you some time and make the clip move along faster, even if it is still 6-7 minutes long. I'd think that even with the Notre Dame game included, if you just show one clip for each big play, you'll be able to take a few minutes off the total time of the video. Unfortunately, with today's infantile "grown-ups" a short attention span has to be catered to at some level. Although I'd argue that making a 3 minute highlight clip of Ingram shows that he really hasn't merited a longer one (not a lot of great runs). I'd say any player worthy of a highlight clip should have enough impressive runs to fill up at least 5 minutes without showing replays. I can't wait to see the Stanford/Notre Dame game!

Thanks for the suggestion Colonel Reb, thats a good idea. Even though it would be better to be shorter to keep the avg dwf's attention, hopefully it will be long enough to fill 10 minutes just with showing each big play once after he plays Notre Dame and whatever Bowl game they are going to!

I don't why everyone here is so worried about Gerhart winning the Heismann. As someone already mentioned here it would put additional pressure on him in the NFL. I don't care if he wins an award which is artificially given to blacks many times. All I care is that he starts for some team next season. Isn't that all that matters? Mike Hass won the Blinketoff award and look what happened to him. Luke Staley was a Doak award winner and look what happened to him. I just hope that one of these afroletes wins the award and then have a bad NFL career. He will be labeled a bust and the caste system will be further exposed.

Wouldn't it also put more pressure on a team to use him at halfback? It is a little different then any other award, it goes to the nation's best player. I don't think anyone is really expecting Toby to win the Heisman because of his race (although he is the most deserving). At least for me I want him to be a finalist and get as much exposure as possible. DWFs will see Ingram win it and see someone with better stats at number 2. It might wake some of them up.

Yep, I agree dwid. After those two games, it shouldn't be difficult to fill 10 minutes with Toby's highlights. wa33, I'm not worried about Toby winning the Heisman or the Doak Walker Award. The fact that he probably won't win it because he's white doesn't keep me from pushing him for those awards.

The most important thing is he has a good combine. If he runs in low 4.5's like he should or maybe even high 4.4's he won't have to deal with alot of crap already. After that we just need to pray he gets his chance.
