Hooray! Thome is back for another year! Can't wait for him to pass the steroid negro Sosa on the HR list!

Jim Thome to going back to his old stomping grounds. The Phillies have agreed to a one-year contract with the slugger, reports MLB.com's Todd Zolecki. Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com says the deal is worth $1.25MM (on Twitter). The contract is still pending a physical, which will take place on Saturday.
Thome, 41, let reporters know that he planned to play next season a few weeks ago. He hit .256/.361/.477 with 15 homers in 324 plate appearances for the Twins and Indians last season, though he did not play the field except for one nostalgic pitch spent at third base. The Phillies could be without Ryan Howard for an extended period of time in 2012 because of a ruptured Achillies, but Thome has not played first base regularly since 2005, his last stint with Philadelphia.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. What kind of moron is Jim Thome??!!! The guy is a natural DH at this point in his career. Going to the National league is flat out retarded. He won't do much but an occasional pinch hit. The only way this would make any sense is if it was late in the signing season and no one in the AL wanted him but to sign in the NL right now defies any logic.

From White recruits that sign with SEC teams, to overtly humble White skill position players, to veteran baseball players that sign with the wrong teams, there is no end of reality defying thinking going on amongst White athletes. We have met the enemy and he is us.

I thought that too at first, but it says he'll be playing 1st base until negro Howard comes back, so he should get some decent playing time.

Howard had achilles surgery so he may be missing part of the season. I do wish Thome stayed in the AL as a DH but hopefully he gets a decent amount of playing time with Howard out.

Thome wants to win a World Series and he probably figures this is his best chance.

I was thrilled to see that Thome hit his first HR of the year tonight! He must be back from injury.

That puts him at 605. I really, really want him to pass [racial slur edited out] Sosa
