Smith is one of the Steelers'six white starters.
My main interest in the Colts, besides rooting for Stokley and Clark, is hoping Peyton Manning leads them to a Super Bowl win, which he needs for his legacy, and which would be important in maintaining white dominance at the quarterback position P]
I understand your point, but couldn't the same be said of Tom Brady, Carson Palmer, Matt Hasselbeck, Drew Brees, and a myriad of other white quarterbacks that have a chance of winning the super bowl?
I see no chance of any black quarterback winning or even going to the superbowl this year, so no reason to especially root for Peyton Manning more than other white quarterbacks.
I would root almost as hard for any of the others you mentioned Kaptain, but Manning has been the NFL's Babe Ruth the past few years, especially last year and this year. While the non-stop propaganda for years was that "new quarterbacks" were going to redefine the position in a more "athletic" direction, here comes a classic brainy, drop-back quarterback who tears up defenses as well as any quarterback who's ever played.
While all the rooting by the media was for Vick, McNabb, Culpepper and friends,it wasthe "immobile" Peyton Manningwho surpassedDan Marino's single season record for TD passes, a feat akin to Mark McGwire surpassing Ruth and Maris in home runs.
Peyton Manning has been great for anyone who roots for white athletes. He's like Steve Nash and Jeremy Wariner, dominating a sport that whites aren't supposed to dominate anymore, and doing it in the most important sport. You also couldn't ask for a better role model than Peyton as far as how he conducts himself on and off the field.
There are lots of excellent white quarterbacks in the NFL right now, but Peyton Manning is in his eighth year, he's at the peak of his powers. He will never get the respect he deserves until he has a Super Bowl ring and I would like to see this be the year his team wins it all.
