I never thought we’d long for the days of Sean Payton.

The thing that would be ironic, if there weren’t other forces at play, with this “dual threat” push is that Whites fit that mold best as well. To be a dual threat QB with any longevity, you have to be built to take the hits. In recent decades only Josh Allen, Taysom Hill and for fleeting glimpses Tim Tebow and Cam Newton have fit that bill. Newton I say fleeting because he never perfected the passing aspect of dual threat other than for a few seasons. All the other black QBs that get opportunities either suck at passing or have major durability issues due to their frail stature.

We’ve seen what Hill can do as a starter. He’s somewhere middle of the pack for a starting QB, and this is usually without any of the preparation an entrenched starter would get. His story is looking like it’s going to play out as an all-time Caste screw job.

This also shows you why teams only want to hire innovative offensive minded coaches in the hiring cycle. He's way too athletic to be used as a plodding blocking tight end/h back(without touches). I can't see a Chris Cooley role for him as aside from Cooley I don't recall any recent h-backs who got more than a touch a game similar to what has happened to the fullback position post prime Alstott.

What a sick joke. One of the best dual-threat QBs of the past generation forced to become a tight end at the age of 31. We already knew this was taking place but gotta feel for Hill and hope he's now at least vaguely aware of how screwed over he's been:

(RotoWire) Hill (foot) is "ready to go" for training camp, according to Saints GM Mickey Loomis. Analysis: With Hill evidently having moved past his left Lisfranc injury, the versatile 31-year-old will now look to secure a role in the Saints offense, presumably primarily as a tight end, while Jameis Winston (knee), Andy Dalton and Ian Book handle the team's QB duties.

Taysom becomes a Caste Casualty.

Meanwhile any Black QB who enters the League, coaching staff goes out of their way to tailor fit an offense to them.

The Saints will be one of the worst teams in the league this year.

Hill was Payton’s project and with him gone It was only a matter of time before this occurred. Of course Hill gets racially slotted as TE rather than a RB/Wr type gadget player.

Hill playing tight end at 6’2 220 is a joke. If anything, they should use him like ATL used Cordarrelle Patterson last year, almost an even split between RB/WR with kick returns mixed in. They are both about the same size and have similar skill sets, Saints play them twice a year they should be taking notes.

Maybe they're just adding tight end to the Hill Swiss army knife? Throwing a game plan curve ball? If they plan on using him as a traditional tight end I don't think that works.

We'll see how it pans out this season.

Great comparison of two nearly identical situations. If anything Hill is a better runner and a helluva lot smarter than Patterson, who has excellent size, speed and athleticism but who has never learned how to run routes beyond a rudimentary level.

The white man always has to be a blocker in some form. Why would a coach want one of if not the best athletes on the team as a in-line blocker? It always drives me nuts when the Rams use Kupp as a lead blocker. Yeah hes great at it but no black receiver of his caliber would ever have his career cut short or his money at risk lead blocking on run plays and taking on linebackers. Maybe crack back blocks but not lead blocking

I don't make the smartest decisions but if I was Hill, I would say QB or RB or trade me and see what the Saints would do. NFL teams cave to the black players' demands, why not a white player?

Taysom Hill, the criminally underused human highlight film, had less than 1,000 total yards running, passing and receiving in 2022, in a season when Jameis Winston was out because of injury and the Saints turned instead to Andy Dalton. Dalton has had a good career, but Hill was the obvious choice, in fact he's been the obvious choice his entire career.

He'll be 33 this upcoming season, so it looks like he'll remain an underused "Swiss Army Knife" for another season or two and then likely exit the NFL, when he was everything the league looks for in a starting quarterback -- except for one clear-cut never-stated reason. In spite of his limited use he put up quite a highlights package last season. Note also the limited enthusiasm from his Black teammates after some of his scores. We've mentioned numerous times how blatant Alvin Kamara's body language is in particular.

Ninety percent of the time when Taysom came in for the wildcat, it was the same play over and over again. Off tackle left or right. Defenses caught on in no time. The play calling was ridiculous. I'm amazed at the highlights. For Taysom to put together as much as did is testament to his talent.

I didn't realize he's turning 33 this season. I was getting po'd watching that video. I commented in reply to one guy who was saying "it's a mystery as to why he's not played more, blah, blah". It's no mystery at all. He's been shafted because of his color. But oh, Bridgewater and Fields and countless others are better and should start in this joke of a league. What a pisser. Ok, rant over.

The guy put up some impressive highlights and honestly there probably isn’t a better all around offensive player in the nfl than he is. He should be a starter somewhere. For crying out loud the only thing he doesn’t do is play offensive line

I think the one positive we have for next year is Kamara is likely to be suspended for several games which means they may be running Hill more. How awesome would it be to see him rush for 1,000?

I would rather see him just play 1 or 2 full seasons at the running back position. Just to prove that he could go over 1000
yards as Don said. Even in his mid 30's he is more than capable. Just such an athletically gifted athlete.

Exactly!! He should be working with the running backs and qb’s not the tight end’s. Of course they have to have him in a position where he can be versatile blocker for Kamara.

Jeff Duncan: Never take Taysom Hill for granted. What he's doing is unprecedented.

Hill is a unicorn in cleats.

Taysom's wife just had their 2nd son

Taysom Hill is like we've said before a Swiss Army Knife of football players. He can do just about everything . In a fair world he
would be marketed as one of the most all around athletic players in the league. Happy him and his wife are making white babies.

Weird tidbit that I just learned this week is that Taysom Hill had committed to play college ball at Stanford for Jim Harbaugh prior to his Mormon mission. He got back from it and flipped to BYU (without checking, I assume Harbaugh had left Palo Alto at this point).

One of Michigan's top newcomers this cycle is OT Andrew Gentry, who Harbaugh flipped at an eleventh hour from a BYU/Utah consideration at the end of his own mission. The current high school sprinting phenom, Gatlin Bair, has Michigan in his consideration. Harbaugh has never inked a white (scholarship) receiver, and time will tell.

I wish these super athletic Mormons would postpone missions until after their playing career. According to my buddy, Hill had a brother that was bigger faster stronger than Taysom but lost interest in football after his mission. Many such cases.

Same holds true for those in the service academies…the post grad military obligation is more or less a death blow to a pro athlete
