You may never get rid of him now. The fans will demand he gets at least fivemore years to develop his game without scrutiny.

Frerotte's only a journeyman, but he is still much better than Jackson. Gus always follows the same pattern as a starter -- he begins strong but then he tails off after a while.

The Cardinals have a terrible pass defense and have played like their old selves since clinching their division. Jackson's four TD game against them was very fluky. Even the worst black QBs now and then have a bit of success throwing the ball. Occasionally Kordell Stewartmanaged to looklike an NFL quarterback for a game or two before coming back to earth. Hopefully the Vikings will try and develop Booty or else draft a QB high in the draft in April.

i was reading an espn magazine today and even they were saying childress made a mistake in getting jackson. That is was Mcnabb's fault because Childress worked with him and thought he could mold Jackson into a player like him. Even they admit Jackson is horrible and his play had been erratic his whole career and was the reason peterson could not do better. So the media will make a fuss about a black qb when his play is hurting one of their poster boy runningbacks. Usually when one fails they try to sweep it under the rug like it never happened.

LT's performance has been hurting Rivers and the Chargers but not much is said of thatEdited by: dwid

I'm not sure if I have ever known an NFL team so insistent on having a black QB. Tarvirus starting after the last two years and the winning record of Frerotte is a complete joke but completely predictable in today's NFL.

Lavoris played one good quarter last week and then stunk. You'd never know that from the girls in the press. I've seen every Vikings QB since Joe Kapp, and Lavoris is the worst of them all.

How about Spergon Wynn? He only started a couple of games for the Vikings but still made a strong case as the worst quarterback in NFL history.

You may be right. He played so little I'd forgotten about him.

Wasn't Wynn drafted ahead of Tom Brady?

Yes he was! He always sticks in my mind because I was on the verge of winning the championship of my fantasy football league for the third straight year in 2001. I was trailing by 6 points in the championship game, but still had Randy Moss to go on Monday night, the final game of that season. All my opponents' players had already played. A few completions to Moss and the championship would be mine.

Wynn started and was so bad it was beyond belief, even for the NFL. He couldn't hit Moss on any passes, evenwhen he was wide open. One play I'll never forget is Mossstanding by himselfin the endzone. Wynn only had to hit him from the3 yard line. The ball clanked on the ground in front of him, causing Dan Fouts

to bloviate thata sudden gust of windwas responsible forthe atrocious throw.

Needless to say I ended up losing the fantasy championship thanks to Mr. Wynn. Every time some media caste clown or DWF moans about Ryan Leaf or Heath Shuler or Cade McNown, they should be shown footage of Spergon Wynn, a truly awful quarterback.Edited by: Don Wassall

Looks like Tavaris will get the start over Frerotte in the playoffs. Look for a BIG Eagles victory this weekend.

Here's a pretty blunt article detailing Jackson's playoff performance and why the Vikings need a different quarterback. The writer also doesn't spare the team's receivers, who are terrible like most receiving corps in the NFL, and Adrian Peterson. Even though he has played two full seasons, Peterson still doesn't know how to pick up a blitz, which is why Minnesota had to go with Chester Taylor at crunch time instead of Peterson.

That would be nice of the Vikes would finally get rid of Jackson, but since he is black, Jackson will likely get another chance.

I guess Jackson hasn't really amazed any with his ability to hit 4 yard throws or throw the ball to a receiver's area 10+ yards downfield, when there is no DB to be found.

Pretty blunt assesment, the writer better watch out or he'll lose his caste-creditials. What happened to Ferrotte anyway? Was he injured? If not, that would have to be one of the worst coaching decisions in a long time.

Agreed. I have been trying to figure that out myself. I asked a few friends who are big football fans, and no one had an answer.

A few DWF's who commented on the article thought Jackson just "needs more time."

He needs the nine or so years that Kordell Stewart got.

Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports the Minnesota Vikings could attempt to showcase QBs Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels
in the team's next preseason game. The Vikings could use Jackson's
strong performance in the team's last preseason game as a bargaining
chip in an attempt to receive compensation for him. Whether the team
decides to trade a quarterback could depend on how they feel QB John
David Booty is progressing.

This shouldn't surprise anyone who is aware of the realities of black solidarity and locker room dynamics in the NFL. From Adam Schefter's blog:

Jackson has his supporters in Minnesota

Many Vikings are excited to have Brett Favre as their quarterback. But there also are players in the Vikings' locker room that believe Tarvaris Jackson gives Minnesota the best chance to win.

Granted, Jackson is coming off a preseason game in which he had a perfect quarterback rating, and Favre struggled. But Jackson is popular among his teammates, and clearly has his supporters.

Now, should Favre play better and win games, some of Jackson's support could dwindle. But there also could be more drama surrounding Favre, as there usually seems to be.

(KFFL) Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre
appears to have little support from teammates at this point, according
to a league source. Favre has created a division within the locker
room. Some players believe QB Tarvaris Jackson gives the team the best
chance to win while others believe QB Sage Rosenfels gives them the
best chance to win, according to sources.

That's weird with all the reports all summer of guys like Adrian Peterson and Jared Allen lobbying Favre to sign with the Vikings. It's laughable that anybody thinks you can win more with Tavaris than Favre.
