This game brings back memories of all those glorious, Jimmy Johnson- style blowouts, that made so many Super Bowls memorable. And, as always, the more obnoxious team is doing the blowing out.
Just on the last series, Manning threw the ball about ten yards over Decker's head (his only target that I've seen), and ignored a wide open Welker, waving his arms Jimmy Orr-like, forcing the ball instead to a triple teamed Julius Thomas (and the pass was nowhere near him). Finally, on the big fourth down play, he gets the ball tipped. Funny how 5'10 Russell Wilson has apparently never had a pass tipped in his career, but 6'5 Peyton Manning does. Hmm.
The refs called pass interference on Denver, which was completely bogus, negating a third down incompletion, and giving Seattle the TD. They also backed Denver up on the last drive, with an invisible "false start" penalty. The line didn't move at all. And as always, Seattle assaults receivers and gets away with it. Just like Muhammed Ali mugging it up in the ring in his prime....
Folks, you can't gloss over Manning's play. He has looked terrible- like a rookie playing his first game. And the problem is, he tends to look more like this in big games than he looks the way he does in virtually EVERY regular season game. Either you hold him responsible for being intimidated by the coal black, trash talking Seahawks, or you chalk the game's result up to some other reason....
