You guys need to actually vote. There's only one vote cast so far, and it's mine! This is a new board feature.

There's a poll in the hockey forum too. It should be set up now where all users of this board can create their own polls.

Most Super Bowls have a similar scenario. The game is usually one-sided with one of the teams being flat, usually the underdog. How many upsets have their been? You would think that both teams would choose this time to come up with a peak effort, but one of the teams usually is sub-par on their big day. The best thing a team can have is a QB who plays wellin big games and doesn't make mistakes. I'll wait before I make my pick.

I will go with the Steelers in a close game.I think that S.Alexander is going to have a good game and help keep it close as the Seahawks will have time of possesion.I do see the Steelers winning though.Too much talent and experience.Hopefully they will finally have one for the thumb!!

I am not a fan of either team but I voted for the Steelers[close game]. I just hope Ben and Matt have good games. I am proud of both these men. I hope one or the other is the MVP.

Steelers in a close one. Who's your choice, Don? I don't really care which
team wins, I do want to see a good game. I like the way Hasselbeck has
proven himself, and Big Ben is worthy of far more praise and promotion
than he currently receives, at least on a national level.

I'm for the Steelers. I'm from Pittsburgh and can't stand Mike Holmgren, so it's an easy choice.

If Big Ben was one of God's Chosen Athletes he would be getting the St. Michael Vick treatment times three right now, that's how good he's been in only his second season.

Col. Callan, great to see you back on the boards on a more frequent basis. Hope you keep that New Year's resolution!

I would love to see JJ and/or Miller have great games. And I would like to see a white player get MVP. Other than that I don't care that much.

I picked Seahawks in a close game, because it seems to me that in games like this a guy like Jurevicious shines (I remember he had like a 95 yard catch against the Eagles in the NFC championship?) and would love for him to break out with a monster game and get MVP.. but that's just wishful thinking..

I voted for Steelers in a blow out. I'm not sold on the Seahawks defense.

My pet theory is that in big sporting events in America one side will
exude a black identity and the other side will exude a white
identity. Last year the Patriots exuded a white identity and the
Eagles exuded a black identity. This year, for whatever
reason I believe the Steelers exude a black identity and the Seahawks
exude a white identity. I will be rooting for the Seahawks.
I like Hasselbeck.

Kooky right? That's me.

When did the Pats not exude a white identity over the last 6 years? I don't know if either one of those teams exudes much of a selfless white identity. I am pulling for the Steelers because I like Big Ben, Heath Miller, Dan Kreider, Alan Faneca, and Aaron Smith. I also like Matt Hasselbeck, Grant Wistrom and Joe Jurevicius, but I want the Steelers to win.

I dunno about kooky, Poach. I can see why you think that why. The Seahawks are very unassuming, flying (no pun intended) well under the radar, receiving little publicity, and a number one seed branded as an underdog to a number six seed. Sure sounds like a 'white' team to me!

Only thing is I don't like Mike Holmgrem. It will be very hard for me to root for the Seahawks because of him, although like you I also like Matt Hasselbeck. If he had a better corps of wide receivers last year, they might have made it to the Super Bowl instead of the Eagles anyway. You can only hit guys in the hands and chest so many times before you figure they should catch at least ONE pass, ya know?

I pick the Steelers by 6+. I just looked at weather.com. It said temperatures of 31/24 with snow showers. This might result in a better game than you would have in an antiseptic indoor stadium.

Sorry, I apologize for my mistake. I haven't watched the NFL much in a few years, and for some reason I had the idea that it wasn't a dome. They might as well have stayed in the Silverdome, but political considerations triumphed.

Rush Limbaugh had a black Minister friend on his show who predicted a Seahawks victory. Limburger being a Pittsburgh fan chose the Steelers. In comparing the quarterbacks, Rev. Chad noted that Ben is playing well now, but blamed him for the PO loss last year.
He mispronounced his name a couple times, calling him Ben Rottenberger, claiming he -choked- in the Steeler's loss a year ago. To say a rookie quarterback who led his team to the playoffs with a high QB rating choked, is ridiculous. No, he didn't play his best, but what could be expected of a kid with very little experience? I hope he's the MVP tomorrow, but I'm guessing the Hawks will win. My thinking is that Bettis and his buddies on the team have been doing a lot of partying, so they could come in fat, flat and hung over.

Our poll shows the Steelers are favorerd 2-1. After all the analysis, one thought stands out in the back of my mind. The Seahawks have got to be a lot tougher and more physical than most would allow. I still can't believe how they handled Carolina. Can latte melt steel? I just bet my family members it will. Every one of them picked Pittsburg, so If I lose, I'll never hear the end of it!
