Werdum is a noted BJJ specialist so will likely try to get the match to the ground. Fabricio is very good but Fedor should end this in the first round.

Am excited to see Josh Thompson back in action. He is a real threat to get his lightweight belt back.

Fedor by TKO in Round 2 sounds about right (possibly KTFO in Rd 1). Werdum is a BJJ World champ, 2 time ADCC HW champ & Judo black belt. In a grappling match I'd give him the (slight) edge, BUT this is an MMA fight...where Werdum has 1 draw & 4 losses (including AA...who Fedor KO'd) & was KO'd by Junior Dos Santos (who couldn't hold Fedor's jock)...vs. Fedor's one, single FLUKE loss (due to a cut from an illegal strike)...TEN YEARS AGO!

Fedor weighed in at 229. A bit lighter than his usual 233-235. Hopefully this enhances his quickness (which is already off the charts for a heavyweight).

I like this fight for Fedor. It sort of closes the circle of his run in Pride. Werdum was the only big name heavy (aside from Barnett) he didn't fight in Pride so, in my eyes, this fight is very fitting for him.

I'm wondering if Werdum, despite his BJJ pedigree, will try to implement some version of Arlovski's plan (which was working until he got stupid). That is, keep his hands high, throw jabs and one-twos and keep Fedor on the outside and try to snag a decision. I doubt he tries it seeing as how he doesn't have the benefit of Freddie Roach training but you never know.

Well, it was bound to happen if Fedor kept fighting. Werdum is a 2 time ADCC HW champ & supreme on the mat. I think Fedor was too over-confident & didn't respect Werdum's BJJ. No doubt Dana White is enthralled.

HAHA! I knew it!!
Any time you see a great fighter like Emelianenko take a fight with some nobody from out of the blue, something like will happen almost every time.
I really believe there's a lot of pressure on white fighter like Emeanenko to be "PC",maybe even more money and better media coverage for him.
I've seen it too many times in the mma!
and in boxing too, Fedor know's one loss is not hurting him, and if he can get more money and better feedback from the media, all the better!

You can never overlook the power of the media......

Of course Fedor's loss was on Sportscenter - unlike most of his wins. Also really odd was the fact the youtube has made no effort to block the video of the fight. Every other fight in MMA usually has a bunch of phony decoy videos mixed with copywright blocked videos. Not this time -you can easily watch this on youtube right now.

Wasnt on TV here, so just watched the youtube video. painful to watch. Fedor had him good with the first couple of punches, but that leg headlock was done well.

Rematch NOW!! please!!
Yeah he had the guy, he just got impatient with a great BJJ fighter.

Werdum isn't a MMA "nobody."Â￾ Also, are you suggesting that Fedor "threw"Â￾ this fight so that a Brazilian could beat a white man? That makes no sense whatsoever.

It's not as if Fedor was brutally KO'ed. He was caught in a routine BJJ arm bar. The average DWF doesn't even know Fedor's name"¦so this isn't some "humiliating loss"Â￾ that the media could exploit (like when Rampage KOed Chuck in seconds). No, they made certain long ago that the Baddest Man on the Planet is kept in the shadows"¦like every other beacon of white achievement.

I'm a big Fedor fan, but don't really feel that bad about this result.

It was kind of a flukey loss. In the interview on Sherdog, Werdum says he doesn't even remember the fight. He was already practically knocked out by Fedor's punches. Fedor said he felt he had chances to escape the hold when he felt it coming on, but "trusted himself too much."

It's good in a way for Fedor and his fans. People have to realize how fast things happen in there, and that on any given day, even the best person can lose.

Werdum seems like a pretty cool guy, a sportman.

Fedor has muscled his way out of triangles so many times before in order to pound his opponent that I suppose he just got over confident. Verdum may have been woozy but it was so early on that he had plenty of strength and energy to apply and hold a tight triangle. I can't wait for the re-match.

On the bright side, Fedor will avenge the loss and won't have to have any pressure to take on Lesnar. A match with Lesnar could put end his career on a down note. I just want him to go out on top.

Fedor is still a different breed of cat. Even the way he tapped out, just one pat, almost nonchalantly. He has such a detached air about him, even when he's in dire straits.

Yes, this does set up a great rematch.

I noticed that about the tap too. Hes definitly ice cold.

Well, thanks to the internet im going to relive all his victories again right now. Hes still the guy to beat. He got caught in a submission once, big deal. Hes still the best striker and the greatest artist in mma .

Yes!! that's exactly what I'm suggesting!!

There's a real danger for white people too support mma.
first, mma came along just as the wall in germany was falling,
the white hater's in america knew what was coming, even if we didnt,
they knew it was the end of their blacks in heavyweight boxing, and their great one liner's like "dont bet on the white guy!" and "white guys can't fight!"
there had been underground fights like mma for years,
but the media never said s**t about it!
now, in 20 years it's bigger than boxing in america.
the same clown's that you seen running boxing in the 70's and 80's are now in mma. and I know what everybody will say! "white fighter's are dominanting mma!" and they are, and they will,
but when they run boxing out of america!
than you will see that you fell for it.

In Heavyweight boxing non-white's are a joke,
but in mma the non-wtite's some times will win.
there pulling young white men away from boxing, and when boxing is dead
in america, everybody will see that I'm talking about!

lost,

You're actually theorizing that Fedor tarnished the most cherished career (and MMA record) in the history of the sport in order to be "more PC"Â￾ or to receive "more money"Â￾ (It sounds as if you're implying both) by intentionally losing to Werdum?

This hypothesis is true lunacy. Also, I'm not even sure what you're talking about with concern to boxing"¦but I certainly haven't "fallen"Â￾ for anything. I know exactly what's occurred in that sport.

If Emelianenko is corrupt"¦there is no hope for this world.Edited by: Thrashen

I think he means that we are losing the best white boxers to mma so that blacks can "reclaim" boxing. There are quite a few good eastern European mma fighters who would be incredible boxers.

Exactamento! There's NO WAY Fedor would ever throw any fight. He's very humble & down to earth. He's not self-engrossed or money/fame hungry. I know there's probably been some dives in MMA...but there's no way I'd ever believe Fedor (or Matt Hughes, Brock Lesnar, etc.) would take a dive.
