Newfoundland is a large island off the east coast of Canada. It's the only province in Canada I've never been to. The interior is mostly uninhabited, but the coastal areas were settled by English and Irish fishermen several centuries ago. The capital of St John's was one of the first permanent settlements in North America.

Newfoundland has a harsh climate. Newfoundlanders have typically been reliant on fishing without much farming, because crops cannot grow in the permafrost. St John's on the Avalon Peninsula is the windiest, cloudiest, and coldest provincial capital in Canada.

A few centuries ago, poor wildlife management resulted in Newfoundland losing several of it's unique species like the Labrador Duck and Great Auk, and several sub-species such as the Newfoundland White Wolf. But some species like Caribou (American Reindeer) recovered and are now numerous. In fact some of Newfoundland's caribou were used to re-introduce the species to Maine, where it had been extirpated by over-hunting.

Newfoundland is well-known as a great place for hunting moose, which were introduced to the Island about 100 years ago. With no natural enemies (since there are no wolves or grizzlies in Newfoundland) moose are now abundant on the island.

Just saw the replay on HBO. One thing is clear. Agnew was not a tomato can. He has skills and with more experience could become a top contender or titlist. That being said, Sergey steam rolled him. Great performance by the Krusher. My only critique, and there is always a critique. Sergey should move his head a bit more. Agnew laid 2 or 3 good power shots on his chin while stationary. The great thing about that is that he displayed a great chin. The sky is the limit for Sergey. Its clear to Steveson and his management that he has little chance against the Krusher.

The next on the hit list with big money involves is a fight with Pascal in Canada. That will be huge with HBO broadcasting. If I was Kovalev, after every win, kept calling out bitch ass Steveson to fight. HBO and ESPN has already documented Steveson running away from a purposed fight.

The question is where does Kovalev go from here? The two big money fights would be Stevenson and Hopkins but will almost definitely not happen.

I agree. Kovalev should insult Stevensons fragile little african ego. Over, and over again he should call him a coward until the guy has no choice but to fight him.

Paucity of viable opponents because the super-middleweight division is a fraud and should be included in light heavy. He should be looking at Andre Ward etc. As it is set up now, Kovalev's light heavyweight division only consists of a ridiculous seven pounds, 168 - 175.

Sergey fights Blake Capparello tomorrow on HBO and provided Sergey wins he will then have a big money fight with Bernard Hopkins.

I've been a die hard boxing fan my whole life, I follow and study boxing, and I've never, ever heard of this guy Blake Capparello before this fight was announced. Apparently he was selected by HBO because they were looking for an opponent they wouldn't have to pay much money to.

Capparello is undefeated and his record indicates he is a light hitter. He does have a few decision wins over decent names but is basically an unknown quantity.

Could be a KO 1 for Sergey or maybe the Aussie Capparello will pull off the upset of the decade. Lol.

What are the betting odds for this fight? Probably something absurd like -5000 Kovalev (meaning you need to bet 5K to win $100). Lol.

Kovalev will win by ko/tko in rounds 4-7 tonight. Camparello will open up and get punched into. BTW, I'm back. I could'"t access this site for the longest time.
Ambrose, glad you made it back. But how were you locked out? What internet provider did you have? I have had 2 servers in the past, but I never had a problem accessing this site.

Thanks. Every time I tried to access the site ads came up; and the site had been re-arranged so that I couldn't open most subjects and threads; there was no boxing column. I just waited it out. I figured Don W. would get it straightened out some time.

Russian Anton Novikov was just horribly screwed by 3 American judges. They gave the fight to American Jessie Vargas by scores of 118-111, 118-111, and 117-111.

I saw the fight and I thought a draw, 114-114 would have been most appropriate.

Jim Lampley correctly criticized the judges and stated that the American judges were obviously biased in favour of the American.

Horribly biased American judging.

Note to Sergey Kovalev: You will not receive fair judging VS Bernard. You need a KO or else they will rob you. Russians dont get decisions in the USA.

As most presumed, Sergey had a very easy time with Camparelo (tko 2). His accuracy, timing, and especially power is incomparable as he knocked Camparelo down in the 2nd with a long range body shot!

Sergey was impatient in the first round and was knocked off balance (not knocked down); ref (female!!) ruled in a knockdown. Now all the stupos on boxing forums can churp "but Kovalev has a weak chin" which he does not.

Kovalev will KO Hopkins. But, yes, whites get screwed left and right in both boxing and MMA.

Hopkins ought to get knocked out by Kovalev if they fight and if Hopkins participates and does not fake an injury or the ref disqualifies Kovalev. Check out this video of Hopkins last fight against "To Karo Murat" who wouldn't last more than 2 rounds against Kovalev.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGLDPa8zP_o

Hopkins lost four rounds (maybe more) and Murat had no trouble hitting him. Murat is 5,9" with little power. Kovalev is about 6,1" with hands of TNT. I think Hopkins has misjudged Kovalev and has erroneous notions about his own abilities. Glad Hopkins signed though; hope he goes through with it.

Yep, 114-114 is an appropriate score. I'd also like to add that I'm a fan of both Vargas and Novikov, so I wasn't rooting for either fighter and I tried to judge as fairly as possible.

The judges' cards were inexcusable. Obviously biased against the Russian. All 3 should be suspended. There is no justifying their scores.

I hope Sergey Kovalev and his team understand the need for 3 international judges in his fight VS Bernard. Thats the only way he has a chance at a fair decision.

In fact in my opinion it should be mandatory that all titlefights consist of 3 judges from countries different than the boxers.

Hopefully Black Panther Adelaide Byrd is not one of the judges. When a white fighter goes up against a black one she always, no matter what, scores it for the black. She did it to Calzaghe when he fought Hopkins. Thats the reason he only got a majority decision.

Boxing, and just about everything else, is corrupt and crooked in the USSA, but Las Vegas is totally corrupt and crooked. The whole raison d'etre for the city's existence is to fleece the suckers.
