Now that Stevenson and Hopkins are not interested in fighting Kovalev, many are wondering what does he do now? I have been saying to them, and Kathy, just keep putting out offers up and down the ranks, someone else will come forward for the money; Sergei just has to keep winning and eventually the big paydays will come. No worries. He's already a star.
Sergey is backed by HBO, is a current world champion, and is already a star. Sergey is the main event on HBO and is becoming a network regular like GGG. He doesnt need Hopkins, Stevenson, or Showtime. Kovalev is considered the best Light Heavy in the world by the majority of boxing fans. Jean Pascal would be a great fight for Kovalev. Cloud would also be a decent opponent. Both very doable with HBO.

Btw, did anyone else notice Kovalev's wife seems to be Central or East Asian? She looks to be either full Asian or perhaps a Eurasian mix. Very cool. As a White male, all of my girlfriends are Middleeastern (West Asian) as well!

Is Rus. And very loyal.

I hope Cloud accepts. It's all about the money and HBO will pay him well to fight Kovalev. Could he do better elsewhere?

Follow the blue print of GGG and Martinez when he was avoided at junior middleweight. Once it's obvious you are the best the big purses will be to fight the engine that drives the division. Like I said in other posts his potential unification fight with Stevenson could happen if the total purse is too huge to pass up for the Stevenson camp. Also Stevenson is well into his thirties so he needs to fight big fights soon before he starts aging and his chin will be a bigger accident waiting to happen.

I thought Agnew sucked. Thin resume. No movement. No jab. Just stood there with his gloves in peek-a-boo mode and punched back maybe ten times a round. I had a feeling this would be an easy win. No kind of test for Kovalev in any way.

Agnew's style did allow Kovalev to showcase his power, and that's about it for this match-up.

As for opponents how about ward coming up to 175 if Stevenson and Hopkins are too scared?

After the fight Stevenson called Kovalev "a real slow bum." The fight will not happen as blackstar decided to fight for Showtime and Kovalev is with HBO. I thought Kovalev fought very well and the reason he didn't dispatch of Agnew sooner was because the guy was in defensive mode all fight.

Most posters on boxing sites are laughing or ridiculing Stevenson now that he has taken extraordinary steps to get away from Kovalev. Only the very few -it is remarkable just how few- still defend Stevenson; and, often the cant is: "He'll get to him, but he's risky and Stevenson wants to take the easy money first." In all of this, it is really Stevenson that has left himself with only Hopkins to fight. After Hopkins, if he wins, what next? Will the same money be there if he decides to fight Kovalev? Maybe, but the bad faith negotiating that took place will force him to either take a cut in percentage or reduce the amount offered. In the end, if it ever comes, Stevenson may be the one looking for the Kovalev fight when he realizes he was snookered by his fellows.

Yep. Almost all DWF's are saying Stevenson is a coward and Kovalev would destroy him. A few racist blacks are saying Kovalev is an ordinary fighter and Stevenson can beat him.

Just caught the last third of the fight. K looked spectacular. He didn't just knock himself out against the tattooed cannibal's clammed up defense, but methodically found a way to get through. I liked the way he doesn't kiss their ass either, namely his comment to Li'l Bug Eyes about the illegal immigrant invader from Haiti (they have flooded Quebec province with Negroes from Haiti and the Carribean, partly to crush the Quebec independence movement and partly just to f up the white goyim, like everyplace else), Stevenson.

I just noticed how fightnews.com twisted K's words around:

"Sergey Kovalev: “It was a difficult fight tonight because I got the two cuts. One from his hand and one from his shoulder."

That is NOT what he said and that is NOT what happened.

He said "One from his HEAD and one from his ELBOW."

Nice post. Fightnews is usually friendly to Kovalev; have him rated the highest of ALL light-heavies. Could be error?

It's not really a mistake.

Kovalev said "elbow" first, then said "shoulder".

Here's the fight-ending KO:

That's not a jab to the body, that's a harpoon to the body. Look how much he steps into it!
