Scott Weiland formerly the lead singer of one of my all time great bands the Stone Temple Pilots died from a heart attack last night. Scott had a life long struggle with drugs. RiP brother you created great music in the early 90s.

I always liked Stone Temple Pilots' first hit song Sex Type Thing more than anything that came after it. At the time I thought Weiland seemed pretty macho, but he was more of a tortured poet type. Certainly very talented though. RIP

Yeah Don, a friend told me last night. I immediately went to Youtube and played that song several times. Some of his live performances of this are off the chart epic. They say he died of a heart attack. Hopefully he is at peace now.

I saw these guys play live back in the early 90's when they were first getting started. The opened for Megadeth at the Long Beach arena along with Suicidal Tendencies. They actually blew the place away with their performance, they were awesome. Sad to see him leave us so soon.

Weiland was one of my favorite vocalists of all time. Growing up as a 90s kid I was into all the seattle bands as well as STP. They were one of my favorite bands - it's a shame that Weiland and so many others from that generation of musicians have gone way to soon - mostly if not all due to drug/alcohol abuse (same could probably be said for every generation of rock n' roll). Weiland was one of the most dynamic, charismatic frontmen in Rock history. 48 is way too young to go.

STP and Velvet Revolver are staples of my workout music and have been for some time as I have become an adult. They were also part of the soundtrack to my teenage years, college years and the youthful times in my life when I was much crazier than I am today as I have become a family man.

RIP Scott.

I listened to STP tunes (Plush, Creep) to get pumped up before my high school football games in 1993 and I flew low down the Louisiana interstates to Interstate Love Song circa 1994-1995. Even now I like to hear ILS come on when I'm on the Interstate. RIP, Weiland.
