according to rotoworld, SAints might add yet another snowman to their patrol

The Saints are expected to sign free agent LB Matt McCoy next week.

The 2005 second-round pick had a tryout for the Panthers recently, but they let him leave without a contract and he agreed with New Orleans. To consider McCoy, the Saints may be worried Scott Shanle's ankle injury will linger.

Saints signed LB Matt McCoy, formerly of the Eagles.

McCoy is a good athlete and has starting experience, but didn't prove to be a difference maker in Philadelphia. He adds depth behind Scott Shanle.

With the addition of Mccoy, the Snow Patrol is more like the Blizzard patrol now. With several more high quality white linebackers coming out in next year's draft we may start to dominate that postion like we do the QB and TE postion.

Another gem from Sporting News, formerly The Sporting News until it dropped "The" in honor of its readers' short attention spans. In its team-by-team rundown of linebackers, the Saints' crew is treated to this singular and gratuitous racist description: "[T]he team could go with Scott Fujita, Mark Simoneau and Scott Shanle, none of whom is a superb athlete."

In contrast of course to the Coal Patrols of most other teams, all of whom are superb athletes.

These caste whores are a joke! It's like they never do any research and just assume whites are poor athletes. This is just like the drunken fans on football's future saying Justin Beaver is slow until they see his athletic measurements.

Scott Fujita is in the top 25 players for vertical leap at the NFL combine since 1999 when NFLdraftscout.com started keeping data. Fujita has an insane 42 inch vertical leap!

I stumbled across this article earlier today but forgot to post it right away. Anyway the DWFS in New Orleans will stop at nothing to disband the Snow Patrol. They claim Shanle is solid, but not spectacular and that he's not athletic enough to run with fast receivers. The writer does a good job of saying that not many outside linebbackers in the league period can run with wideouts and some tigh ends!

Shanle has to be one of the most underrated linebackers in the league. Hes great in coverage. Every year Saints fans want to get more "affletic" at the linebacker position, when its not even a weakness. The weakness is the defensive line.

At least they cut the over-rated Charles Grant. Maybe "overachieving" Jeff Charleston's long racial apprenticeship will end and he'll get to start this year.

I sure hope Charleston gets a chance to earn a starting job, with Grant gone and Will Smith being suspended the first 4 games, he should have a chance to prove himself, although I have been saying that for quite some time now. Glad they finally cut Grant, 300 pounds of dead weight, but all of his supporters claimed "hes good at stopping the run!". He hasn't done squat since getting his big payday, the one he needed to "feed his kids" with.

Looks like Saints fans got what they wanted. Saints just got rid of one of their best defenders. Scott Fujita signs with the Browns.

Hopefully they can draft AJ Edds and keep somewhat of a Snow Patrol. Troy Evans did play a little bit for Fujita when he was out but they used some of the affletes later on and they played horribleEdited by: dwid

That's not good for the Saints. The defense missed Scott during the stretch in which he was recuperating from his injury. The Saints attempted to make a move (recently confirmed by Sean Payton) in the 2009 draft to pick Brian Cushing, but couldn't pull it off. Anyway, the Saints could be crossing into ominous territory depending on Scott's replacement. There was some chit-chat about LaDainian Tomlinson joining the Saints. In my book, that would automatically put them into the grade F category if such a move was made.

Not this Saints fan...it was sad for me to hear that..it still stings...he has been a solid player since he arrived with Peyton, Shanle, Brees, etc...Fujita was like another coach on the field; they all know this; that's why we are really gonna miss him....Loomis made him a good deal...but the Browns offer was justtoo good to refuse...

At 6'-5" 250 Fujita has always been under-rated athlete to the casual observer...I have defended him plenty...when others were ready to get rid of he & Shanle for more affletic so-called play makers(3 past years) yet nobody could unseat them...he won't be as easily replaced as many would think...

Peyton likes white LBers...I was stoked when they signed Dan Morgan; it was unfortunate he was never able to get healthy enough; had to retire....Simoneau was solid...but his past injuries could be career threatning...on top of wanting Cushing last year(Defensive Rookie of the Year)...not %100 sold on Troy Evans as a starter...

If Fujita had to go...was hoping he can be replacedanother white player...

BTW Louisiana-native Jake Delhomme is interviewing with the Saints this weekend as Brees possible back-up...the Browns are also interested.

That is a curious thing about Payton. In addition to what has already been mentioned, it was believed that the Saints were set on selecting A.J. Hawk until Reggie Bush fell into their lap. It will be interesting to see if second year defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has a different philosophy than Sean Payton or the previous DC and how much latitude he will have in shaping things. I am not familiar with his track record.
