Had a lot of trouble login in and posting this, so I hope this goes through and comes out legible -- almost impossible to edit, as it takes me about 10 ten minutes just to log in. Compiled this a few months ago, thought I'd share it. This might give some insight into which rookies have a better chance to stick.

Rookie minimum for Practice Squad players should be about $13,000 per week this season. So, basically, anyone with a $200,000 "salary guarantee" should be, at the very least, a highly likely practice squad candidate, as teams must fulfill their contract terms -- either paying them via the roster, Practice Squad or buying out players they release. Also, in theory, the higher the "salary guarantee", the more coveted they were by NFL teams. So they are more likely to make a regular season roster, even if cut by the team that first signed them? For example, Efton Chism was reportedly very highly sought after by Denver. If the Pats cut him, the Broncos might pounce him?

Cool list - thanks for compiling!

I read a book about 9 years ago called NFL Confidential, billed to be an inside look at the grueling processes for the bottom third of an NFL roster. I was hoping it would get into racial dynamics, but the anonymous author (presumed to be former U of Michigan and Philadelphia Eagles center David Molk) didn't touch that third rail, other than to illuminate that many pro players can't spell the words back that are written on team meeting whiteboards.

My biggest takeaway from that story is that rosters are primarily formed before tryouts. Coaches (sometimes/often) don't bother to watch the individual drills during camps to determine top players. If a defensive analyst decides an undrafted player looks better than his peers, he makes the GM look bad and goes against the grain (and his bosses) by suggesting him. No one in their right mind is going to put his job on the line by going over the heads of their betters.

With this in mind, these salary guarantees are very important. Unless you're absolutely outstanding, you're not winning a roster spot over players who required money or draft capital. We grouse about this here in the form of "pre-season superstars" who aren't actually trying out for a vacancy.

Maxen Hook played safety for Toledo about as well as could be asked, winning season superlatives over multiple years, yet he went undrafted. His high UDFA buy-in means that he is more likely to stick. It doesn't hurt that he's in Philly, home of the norm-defying "Exciting Whites."

If there's an outside shot, it's from someone like safety Ian Kennelly, who played for Grand Valley State (Michigan) and was signed by the Lions for pennies. They don't need him to relocate from his home base and can trust that he'll be "on call" for a call-up. (Detroit has also promoted multiple white in-state players on defense with success lately, which can't hurt, unless the new DC Kelvin Sheppard doesn't believe in that) Kennelly seems like a safe bet for the practice squad, regardless of his camp performance.

Watched the Panthers game and saw Jack Henderson & Isaac Gifford BOTH playing together at Safety positions in 4th qtr; checked Depth Chart and saw them Both listed 3rd Team. Thought to myself does one sneak onto the 53 man roster ; the other maybe the "Practice Squad"?? Give em a couple years they can contribute significantly.

Can't count out WR JP Richardson (Bucky's kid) for the Bears!

Patriots Lan Larison had the look of an future All Purpose NFL Running Back last season at FCS Cal-Davis! In walking boot after 7 carries for 35 yards Week 1 of this pre-season; hope he gets/stays healthy ready to contribute

Some of those LBers (Dolac ; Chambliss; Woodard) sure seemed like the deserved to be Drafted

Raiders DB Hudson Clark (former Walk-on) & Patriots WR Efton Chism (thanks Leonardfan) had solid first games as well....

Not-listed UDFA Browns WR Luke Floriea had a nice game ; w highlight- reel snag + punt returner
 
PHall, I used to moderate a team site (AFC). Several family members of NFL players posted there and confided in me some of the NFL's secrets, via Private message. While Stephen A. Smiff of ESPN always says "sports is the ultimate meritocracy", the family members told me this simply isn't true.

Example, one black SS was total trash and clearly inferior to a white safety, according to the black brother of one the team's starting defenders. Black brother of the starting defender said the whole defense (mostly black, of course) knew the white was much better and wanted him to start.... but the black SS was drafted in round 2 and "gifted" a starting spot as a rookie. Even though, as the black brother (high school coach) told me, the rookie was "too small and too slow". The white FS was big and fast, and a former 3rd round pick, but he was on his 2nd team (4th or 5th year) and was rigidly typecast as a backup and top special teams player and nothing could change that.

So how did the team rid the too small, too slow black safety, a bust second round pick? He was arrested and charged (not too serious), so it gave the team an excuse to draft another black in round 2 the next year. The new SS did well enough and kept the job for a while ... By this time, the white free safety was on his third team and on his way out of the league.

Another relative, an older gent, who's step-son was a NFL Euro player and a multi year (I think) practice squad player (white), said teams rosters are determined prior to the season. This can change, however, due to injuries. At best, he toldme, only one or two spots are available! 51 or 52 spots out of 53 pre-determinded. That doesn't sound like a "meritocracy", does it?

Twenty-two, I can't find the deal CB Jayden Price signed with New Orleans this year, after visiting several teams (Denver first). Price signed with Atlanta for $10,000 bonus (10K guaranteed) in 2024. Price had a fine pre-season (led team in tackles one or 2 games), but wasn't even offered a Practice Squad spot? Had he signed a $200,000 deal, he would've stuck around (p-squad, at least), I assume?

By the way, during an ABC telecast this spring, Price was listed as his USFL teams' (Dallas) #1 NFL prospect last spring, by ultimate caste-cuck Tom Lugginbill. That's saying a lot for what Price did! He was deemed the leagues #1 CB and #1 Punt return specialist, by some. He did this playing for another total caste-cuck, Bob Stoopes, who refused to start him full time until mid-season. Hope he sticks.

This sh** is absolutely true, I’ve heard it first hand.

A former white corner for the Seahawks I know (you all know who he is) claims he was cut because a certain up and coming SB winning Seahawks QB wanted him gone due to some beef they had because said white corner picked him off a bunch in practice and they exchanged a few words. QB had a locker next to him and never looked his way or spoke to him again after the “incident”

And by “incident” I mean picking off the star QB multiple times in practice, and MAYBE typical heat of the moment competitive words were exchanged. Regardless, I guess take these stories with a grain of salt.

Funny enough, white Seahawks CB is how I found this site. Can’t remember if I stumbled upon a caste football post involving his name, or if a site discussing white cornerbacks in the NFL name dropped cast football.

This article is decent but filled with so much Caste speak. In a way, it feels like it’s from another time much longer ago than 2017. Guess we’ve made progress and White racial consciousness continues to grow.

The best quote in it comes from Dustin Fox. He tells it like it is versus some of the other guys who beat around the bush or use tired old tropes.

Nice job Jacque. Freethinker, give huge props to Dustin Fox for speaking out so vehemently. Ironically, he spoke out and still works for ESPN. Worked a few bowl games last December. Jason Sehorn used to play the role of the obedient Shabbos, as a player and broadcaster, and claimed for decades the NFL was "100% color-blind". But Jason has spoken out regarding the "system" a bit in recent years, which is good.

Anyhow, thought I'd post some more UFA deals. Again, keep in mind, players with guarantees over $200,000 will likely be on a practice squad this season -- worst case scenario, for them. Last time I focused on the "taboo" positions, here are some OL's, TE's and QB's.

By the way, poly QB D.J. Uiagalelei, once considered a 1st round pick and "franchise QB", signed with the Chargers for a mere $3,000 (bonus and guarantee). Not a lot of QB's signed, overall. Centers did well. Traditionally, a lot of UFA center and guards become starters. Offensive tackles rarely even make rosters.
