. I always felt that he was half crazy when he did his comedy skits and his stints in rehab were not a shock to me. I think he was clean and sober for close to 20 years and fell off the wagon a few years ago and has been battling a cocaine addiction and John Barley until today. Anyway RIP: Note at the 32 minute and 30 second mark he pokes fun at the NFL....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9FMrjDasBk

Some people think Robin Williams is Jewish but

1) There's no credible source that lists him as a Jew.

2) He doesn't look like a Jew.

3) He has an Irish middle name, and an English/Irish surname, and there's no evidence that he changed it, making it likely that if he has any Jewish ancestry, it's a minor component.

Given the above, is it still possible that he's a Jew. Yes, but it's highly unlikely.

He's not.

His third wife was Jewish, though.

Why are you so obsessed with defending The Chosen Ones?

Robin Williams was a comic genius. He had a brilliant mind, but it raced so fast that it may have been his downfall as he seemed to have a difficult time practicing restraint. RIP

So horribly insecure, he was afraid to ever be himself, lest his "real" self be judged not good enough by those around him. So he was always "on" as comedians would say. I've known someone like him. When you have personal contact with people like this, their neverending performance isn't funny, it's agonizing. You can try telling them, "Hey, I'm a friend. I like you. You don't have to act for me." But these personalities develop very early. By the time they reach puberty, they are incapable of anything else.

In this appearance on the Tonight Show, Johnny, who was so great at making his guests feel comfortable, manages to pull Robin out of his cocoon briefly. At about the seven minute mark, they begin talking about Awakenings. You can see the awkward and timid Robin's real nature as he describes the production of the film. Watch the whole thing and see the profound difference between his two different personas.

I do wonder, though, if much of this humor would be completely lost on those under the age of 35.

For some strange reason the passing of this talent disturbs me. Part of me feels sorry for him and the other is angry that he killed himself. Certainly he knew right from wrong. He had been to the highest mountain top. Success, critical acclaim, money, loving family and fame. Why hang your self? I will never know. Maybe not, at least for his children? How f*cked is that? splashed on every website.Awful.

On a radio program today in Los Angeles a stand up comic relayed a story of meeting Williams at a stand up comedy club many years ago. He said to Williams, "Robin, do you think inside or outside the box, when creating your material?" Robin replied, " the box of comedy has no edges!" How profound!

And WTF does him being Jewish or not have to do with anything? Listen before some members here attack me for being a zio trog or whatever the f*ck, the obsession with Jews in the happy hour has gone over board. My position is this. No Americans should die over there for the star of david. If the Star of David needs military hardware to wage war on its enemies or ISIS ****s, so be it, but at a premium. They must pay $. Let our the military drone those f*cks who behead living people from the air to get practice. Amerika should exploit our natural resource here and demand Iraq sell us oil at 1/2 the cost of everyone else if we aid them in turning back the barbaric tribes. Lets say it out front, for the oil. Also, I get it, how the tribe wants to marginalize us. But we have to elect leaders that say, wait a f'n moment here."

If the area was Haiti, we would not be there. Oil is there (middle east), so we are there.

In closing, his greatest film was "Mrs Doubtfire", great, funny and touching film about the love a father has for his children. Robin RIP.

'F*ck white America'! Race-obsessed jerks lash out at Robin Williams’ mourners

Many outraged tweeters feel that Williams' death has overshadowed what's happening in Ferguson, Missouri and see it as further evidence of white racism:

He looks clearly like an Englishman. Somebody stated that he had an Irish middle name so he could be a mix of Anglo-Saxon and Irish ancestry but that isn't uncommon in Great Britain or the USA. To think he is Jewish is idiotic unless he was half Jewish, but he probably would have played that up in his comedy.

I was never a huge fan of Robin Williams, his comedy style was too upbeat for my tastes. Like he was on speed or some ****. His constant character impersonation switches annoyed me. Shame he died but I'm not gonna pretend I was a fan.

Ditto. He was a fair actor, but his comedy 'schtick' was obnxious & overrated. I'm sorry for his kids that he decided to grease himself, but I'm not shedding any tears about it.

Robin Williams could really get on a roll, sometimes he had me rolling over laughing. Check out on youtube his routine on golf, it's freakin' hilarious. Anyone that has played golf would enjoy it.

Some of his movies were pretty good. I have not seen any mention of his role as Popeye which I think is the best translation of a cartoon to a real life movie.

Unfortunately he was cultymarx through and through and if you watch any of his longer routines it's a real turn off. Sometimes his schtick would wear thin but that's true of any comic. He was a genuine talent. Grew up in the Detroit area. I don't believe he had any jewish in him. What other jew comic was like him? The only other comic that is remotely similar is Jonathan Winters, also a non-jewish comic. His energy reminded me somewhat of Sam Kinnison, another non-jew comic.

I don't get the suicide though. Anyone that rich should be able to get treatment, drugs, or support that would prevent such a thing. He seemed like a mellow guy when he wasn't "on". Is it possible that he was doing that sex thing some people do when they asphyxiate themselves? Doesn't make sense.

As almost always Jaxvid you nail it. Why couldn't he get the professional help he required. Maybe his demons were huge and reclusive and came upon him like a storm. Also, I don't think he was into the sex/suffocation that killied the INXS singer years ago. The one thing I suspect Williams was a person who cared about others before himself. CFers, if you want to see his greatest movie, check out Mrs Doubtfire. His scene toward the end about responding to a caller into his TV show, who had only a divorced mother is quite moving.

He wasn't rich any more. Two divorces drained him. He was planning on an upcoming tv series to help him avoid bankruptcy, but it was cancelled.
He probably should have asked one of his ex-wives for financial help. They're rolling in (his) cash.

Mrs. Doubtfire is one of my all-time favorite comedies. Williams is very funny throughout the movie, especially when he's doing his best to keep Sally Field from falling for Pierce Brosnan.

And it stands out as unique in that it portrays a very loving father who is easily and mercilessly screwed by his ex-wife through family court, simply because she knows she can and does it out of spite, with the male judge of course siding with her.

If your wondering why I brought up Robin Williams ethnicity. I knew ahead of time that the Conspiracy Tards would accuse him of being a Jew.

So because "tards" on unrelated sites claimed Williams was Jewish, you decided to pre-emptively bring up the subject here? What a genuine tard you are.

Sam Kinison once saw a then unknown Williams in a small club and came away "terrified" because Kinison reasoned that if Williams hadn't made it what chance did Kinison have?

If Williams did get wallet raped in two divorces he would appreciate Kinison's vow that if he ever got married again he would insist on having a drummer present to do rimshots during the vows.

Maybe Williams was in the red at sixty-three and looking at at the grind of having to go out on the road or do some TV and he just wasn't up to it. He should have been in a position to do only what he felt like doing but that's his reward for getting married.

For the life of me I don't know why these guys with so much to lose in a divorce go on ahead and get married anyway.

EXACTLY! Give marriage one shot. If it does not work out. Never marry again or at least get an Iron clad pre nup for some girl who is 20 years your junior if you want her around to pleasure her or yourself a 2nd time, simple.

Considering the swings a manic depressive can have, if you couple that with financial insolvency, hanging yourself seems plausible. Maybe Williams didn't want to end up like Ed McMahon (working until the day you drop dead).http://www.worstpreviews.com/headline.php?id=29444
