Sites like Scout.com, Rivals, ESPN300 started out as databases and a small part of the recruiting process to become utilized by colleges/universities as a primary means of recruiting information. They have created a cottage industry which has developed into the recruiting industrial complex and has played a big role in gatekeeping and protecting the caste system. It's a racket.

Rivals is now charging $500 for an evaluation of athletes. I'm too cynical to be optimistic these days but we all know that many of these White players and parents know what is going on and they decide to throw the money at Rivals for an evaluation especially since Rivals downgrades anything outside of what appears to be the same regions and high schools every year. BSPN is part of this problem as they broadcast high school football but it is limited to the "powerhouses" the media deems worthy of hyping up.

It will be interesting if there is any uptick in White recruits listed and if Rivals provides numbers for how many athletes paid for this evaluation. If it turns out to be a grift then perhaps the parents/players can sue.
