Nick Minnerath is havnig a good year for Detroit, a 6-8 juco transfer. Detroit has a center from IU who was supposed to be an NBA prospect and a freshman point guard, the coach's son, who was a McDonald's All-American, but on the U-of-D message board they're calling Minnerath the team's best pro prospect. Originally a townie from the Cape who had some drug/legal problems, drove a cab, then surfaced at a junior college in Michigan. Had 26 points on 10-of-14 field goals as Detroit beat the best team in the Horizon, Cleveland State, earlier this week.

He's the one with all the tats, right? I saw him when Detroit played Milwaukee earlier this season, a game that Milwaukee came back and won.

And, Milwaukee was playing their White true frosh big, who looks to have some promise and basketball IQ.

Tulsa's - Steven Idlet (Junior) - is averaging 12.7 PPG and 6.9 RPG.

Sometimes he doesn't get enough shot-attempts, but he showed-up in some big wins, like Tulsa over Memphis recently.

Minnerath stood out in the Butler/Detroit game. He was the player Detroit went to on the Alleyoop. The announcers even called him "explosive."Edited by: The Hock

Nick Minnerath is a NASTY dunker, but with his size and athleticism he should have much better rebound numbers. this kid hasn't even touched how good he can be. the question is, will he?

I started to think that I was wrong about who Minnerath is.. so I did some research - and I also found Detroit's website to be kind of confusing, and, perhaps, not updated very well...

Bruthas are thinking: "WHAT.. Is dis beez a mugshot?"

Anyways, so this tattooed guy IS Minnerath?

Deadlift, if a White guy is going to star at Detroit, I would expect him to be a bit rough around the edges. Those 2 White guys in the back look photoshopped into San Quentin's basketball team photo.

Yeah, that one is Minnerath. He had a rough stretch, I guess during his "tat days," but his juco coach said no one works harder at his game.

One of the outliers in the back row, #33 Evan Bruinsma, is about the last guy you'd think would play at U-D. He played Class D (smallest division)in West Michigan, about as far from Detroit as can be in every way possible, but won three state championships there and got a late offer last spring from U-D. I forget what they're called, but he's part of a certain Dutch ethnicity that is really blond, really tall, really long. He'll be a good player in a couple years.

Here's another guy we can add to the list. James Haarsma 6'7 230 Soph. SF for Evansville. He's averaging 11 points and 7 rebounds a game. He helped Evansville knock off number 22 Northern Iowa last night. I know he's not a huge star but he comes from my area and was a star at St Catherine's High School in Racine two years ago, so I thought I'd show him some love. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=300540339

It looks like he transfered to Milwaukee: http://espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=41268Edited by: Deadlift

Good to hear he's playing closer to home! Hopefully he's a key part of the team next year.

In USCs loss to Arizona -- Vucevic had 16 points, 12 boards and 3 blocks.

In Kentucky's win over New Miss -- Harrellson had 13 points, 7 boards and a block.

Bill Amis was a good player for Hawaii (http://espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=38216). During this, his Senior year, he averaged:

15.5 PPG
7.4 RPG
2.1 BPG

Hawaii will be playing Portland in the College Invitational Tournament.

When I look at the landscape of current White bigs, I will often theorize where they would fit better (on what team).

Oregon State's Angus Brandt: St. Mary's, Butler, Notre Dame.

Being from Australia, I think a good California "mid-major" would have been perfect. I think sometimes it really is "better" for international Whites to choose mid-majors.. kind of like how Andrew Bogut chose Utah.

Arizona State's Jordan Bachynski: BYU.

This huge big is LDS, and would likely be a monster on BYU and help them immensely.

Arizona State's Ruslan Pateev: Wisconsin, Portland, Nevada, Northern Iowa, Butler.

Another huge big that has "shown flashes."

We'll have to see if Natyazhko (Arizona), Withey (Kansas), and Erik Murphy (Florida) will be forced to continue their "apprenticeship."

Jack Cooley and Jon Kreft are athletes to keep an eye on. With the coaching change, we'll see what happens to GA Tech's Daniel Miller and Nate Hicks. Wisconsin's Jared Berggren may emerge as well.

The Wear twins (Travis and David), transfers, will likely get some PT for UCLA next season. I have a feeling that Vucevic will return to USC.. he really needs to involve himself more in "help defense."

Nebraska's Brandon Ubel (Soph.) is built like a God, but he really, really, needs to "up his game." There are several other White bigs out there (Tyler Zeller, Meyers Leonard, Ryan Kelly, Mason Plumlee). Not by any means are we a "midget race." Fight on, brothers!

This might just be the break that Jack Cooley/Tom Knight needed!

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebas...t-skipping-final-season-at-notre-dame-for-nba

I certainly have some optimism for next season.

Jack Cooley and Jeff Withey have been GREAT stories this year! Jack Cooley had a huge game against DePaul, 22 points and 14 rebounds.

--Tyler Zeller has heated up. Some other good stories.. Justin Hamilton, of LSU. Garrett Stutz, of Wichita State. Cody Zeller, of Indiana. Noah Hartsock, of BYU. Daniel Miller, of GA Tech.

Daniel Miller is showing promise - for sure - but he's just on a ghetto team. Miller is averaging 7.8 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 2.4 BPG and 1.5 APG. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/45523/daniel-miller

Win or lose against Kentucky, Jeff Withey has "risen" to the top of college basketball!! Congratulations to Jeff! Also, he set a Final Four record with 7 blocks against Ohio State!

He held Jared Sullinger to 5-19 from the field! After the game, in the press conference for OSU, Sullinger sounded like a sissy. He was clearly frustrated during the game..

And, props to Bill Self for saying that Anthony Davis is the #1 shot-blocker in the nation, but that Withey must be #2.. "who else is there?" - Bill Self said. The MSM would probably try to push Dieng (of Louisville) or something, but Withey is superior -- 3.6 BPG to Dieng's 3.2 BPG -- and in 8 less minutes per game for Withey!! :yo:
