Well with the new Air Raid offense, the death of the fullback was right around the corner. New OC Phil Longo confirmed it yesterday.. They had a good run starting with Alan “Iron Horse” Ameche in the 50s! He comes from a formerly Italian neighborhood in Kenosha, WI! 3,200 rushing yards as a Badger and another 4K as a Colt!

What a tremendous athlete. Never saw him play obivously but those numbers speak for themselves. May he rest in peace!

Boggles the mind that Wisconsin is drastically changing its game… it won’t work up in Big Ten country… the Iowa’s and Ohio State’s of the league will physically impose their will on a gimmicky offense.

Bradie Ewing is probably my favorite Badger FB. From a small town named Richland Center, Wisconsin. He had a stellar prep career with 3,900 career rushing yards. As a SR he was 6’1 210lbs and was timed in 4.5 range. Only good enough for a walk on opportunity At Wisconsin, they of course bulked him up to 235-240 range and moved him to FB. Ewing timed at 4.76 coming out of college. Was drafted in the 5th rd by The Falcons, and Played a few years before retiring!

Is he still unemployed? That's a crime if he is.

Wisconsin going back to the Gary Andersen era and I'm afraid and Fickell will get a fairly long leash. Wisconsin's brand of football has been consistent for pretty much this whole century outside of the failed Andersen era with his affletic obsession and lowering of standards. Since 2000 they have only one losing season.

Leonhard was in the mix for an NFL coordinator job during the Black Monday coaching musical chairs hiring spree. He may have missed his chair so to speak.

As for Ameche he should be in Canton he is on an all decade team and has the famous touchdown to win the "game of the century" and had significant totals for his era. He like various players from bygone eras have been lost in the shuffle and may have to wait for years since they have passed away and most writers that saw them play are dead or too infirm to be on the hall of fame committee anymore.

Wisconsin going away from power football could bite them in the butt as part of the reason why they had this offense was because of the Wisconsin fall weather was similar Canadian fall weather and finesse football isn't as easy to execute when it's snowing or wintery in terms of temperatures and wind patterns.

Oh I will guarantee it will fail… upper Midwest weather is no joke… the flashy SEC garbage doesn’t fly up here… which is why all those Bowl Games will never be played up north. The ptb needs to keep up the black conference supremacy.

Ask yourself: where do the majority of the best linemen and running back come from? Big Ten country, overwhelmingly.

Despite being a nearly lifelong WI resident (born in MN) I can’t wait for Wisconsin to fall flat. It will serve them right.

Don’t forget Derek Watt as well. Garret Groshek, although never converted to fullback, always played 2nd or 3rd fiddle to black running backs but he was just as good.
