In a very exciting fight, Scottish hero Ricky Burns (29-2, 7 KOs) shockingly dethroned previously unbeaten WBO super featherweight champion Roman Martinez (24-1-1, 15 KOs) on Saturday night at Kelvin Hall in Glasgow, Scotland. Martinez floored Burns in round one with a cracking right hand, but Burns was very game, hurting Martinez with an uppercut in round three. Wild five round with both fighters rocking each other. Martinez wobbled back to his corner. It was Burns that was hurt again in round seven. Martinez continued to land bombs over the next few rounds. Burns came on strong in the twelfth staggering Martinez. Scores were 115-112, 115-112, 115-113.

in the lighter weights because most don't have the power for the one punch ko, so they get "jobed" my sellout judges.....

Burns-Martinez was a tremendous fight! I watched it for the first time the other day and Burns put on a clinic. In my opinion, the only rounds he lost were the ones he got hurt in...which was only 3-4 rounds. He might have a short reign due to his chin but for that one night in Scotland, he did his people proud

Burns still WBO 130lb Champion

WBO super featherweight champion Ricky Burns (30-2, 7 KOs) retained his title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Andreas Evensen (13-2, 5 KOs) on Saturday night at Braehead Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. In his first title defense, Burns dropped Evensen in round one and was in command all the way. Scores were 119-108, 119-108, 118-109.

Even boxrec rankings are becoming ridiculous. For exemple, they now have Paul Williams ranked # 3 as a 160 lbs even though he's been fighting at 154 for his last 2 fights. (gift MD over Erislandy Lara and a shutout against limited Ishida)

They may feel the 154 division is stacked and that it's easier to have another afrolete ranked higher at 160 lbs. I think he even was # 2 like a week ago.
Nonsense, just like the argument heavyweights cannot be in a P4P ranking. It wasn't the case back then but the rules have changed since eastern euros took over.
