Ricky Burns

I have it 2-1 for Burns so far.

Rounds are close. Crawford isn't doing much but he stays out of range most of the time.
 
Crawford got rd 4, with a good flurry in the beginning. 3 to 1 Burns
 
After 6, its even, Burns needs that jab to work overtime.
 
I'd have Crawford ahead at this point (after 6) and the fight seems to be getting away from Ricky a bit...

He needs to go back to the jab!

In Round 7, Crawford has now received three warnings for fouls. He should have had a point taken off by now...
 
Rd 7, close. Burns needs to pick it up.
 
Burns down 2 or 3 rds. He will need to step on the gas, cause he doesn't have the power to bail himself out.
 
Burns may have eked out rd 9, if so, down 2 rds.

After 9, I'd probably have it 6-3 for Crawford, though you could also have it a bit closer, say 5-4.

I thought Ricky won rounds 1 and 2.

Round 3 and 7 were close...

Round 9 I gave to Burns.

Burns is landing when he throws, he allowed Crawford to outwork him in some rounds.

Gotta let you hands go. Punch with volume.
 
I have Crawford ahead now, but he hasn't been impressive. He fights like he's afraid of being hit.
 
10 is even. Burns will have dominate the the last 2 or drop Crawford to get a draw. Crawford has good boxing skills, but nothing special.
 
Crawford was using his head in round 10, and he's been very fortunate not to lose a point.

Been warned three times, and truthfully he should have had a point taken on the third warning for using his forearm/pushing.
 
It appears that Burns is conscious of his jaw being re injured. Burns never flurried with Crawford.
 
Disappointing performance from Burns, never flurried with Crawford. I think he was scared of his jaw being broken. Like I said, Crawford has good skills, but you get a fighter who has a bit of speed and power, Crawford will lose.
 
Fight's over, I thought Ricky won anywhere from 3 to 5 rounds in the fight. It was a decent effort from him and he showed a lot of heart, but I don't think he won.

Burns landed very easily in this fight. The problem was he let Crawford outwork him in the middle and late rounds. He couldn't keep up with the pace. It also would have helped if he hit harder.

Not that impressed with Crawford, he's easy to hit, and if he goes against someone with power it could be lights out. Burns is not a big puncher, but some guys in the division are... Not a good sign that Burns landed so well on him.
 
The difference in fighters like Burns and Mallinagi, is that Paulie has a fire in him and refuses to lose. I did not see the fire in Burns tonight. He failed to flurry with Crawford, which showed Crawford that he was boss in the ring when he chose to walk him down.
 
Is this Ricky Burns day or something? This guy deserved to lose. What did he have to do win? 4 jabs, some hooks mixed in with a right, step, or the same and hold. He didn't or couldn't do it. Oh well, it's not that complicated.

Burns had a lot of success early in the fight, he was landing his jab and straight right at will and dictating the fight. By round 4, he wasn't throwing as much and Crawford started to take over.

Speedwise, I'd say they were about even. The problem was Burns seemed unable to keep up with the pace of the fight. He seemed tired, or gassed. His volume certainly went down considerably from the opening rounds to the middle.

I think Ricky could have won the fight if he managed to keep up the pace that he set in the first few rounds, but he was unable to do that.

Some posters on boxing sites are saying Crawford won the fight 119-110, or even 120-108. Jesus Christ that is awfully biased scoring.

I personally would have scored the fight probably 116-112 Crawford (a viewpoint shared by the judges). But to say he won all rounds in the fight, as some Americans are saying is incredibly biased. Then again I'm not surprised.

Oh well, I don't think Crawford will remain champion for very long. He's very hittable and beatable. And those shots that Burns tagged him with, those could be knockdowns if Burns hit harder. Burns is a light hitter. Someone like Orlando Salido (who Loma is fighting tonight) I think would have a very good chance on stopping Crawford.

I lost interest at about round 6. I could see where it was going. I expected more fire from Burns, but something seemed wrong. Maybe it was Crawford, or maybe something else was going on. Maybe Burns isn't as good as I had hoped he would be. It happens. And I don't like that hitch in his right cross.

Not the blow-out those laughable semi-literates at Eastside were predicting.

I'm glad it was a fair decision. That's good for the sport.

Truth is Burns has been pretty poor his last 2,3 fights and he did suffer a broken jaw his last fight.The Burns of 2 years ago would have one that fight imo but Crawford was just the younger fresher fighter and it wasnt to be.I was hoping he could give it a real go in front of his hometown Scottish fans who create a real atmosphere but it wasnt to be.
