The Rams were incapable of drafting a good wide receiver until. . . guess who?

Donny Avery. Keenan Burton. Brooks Foster. Mardy Gilyard. Austin Pettis. Greg Salas. Brian Quick. Chris Givens. Stedman Bailey. Tavon Austin. Bud Sasser. That’s the list of wideouts the Rams selected from 2008-2015. More recently, Pharoh Cooper has made a very big impact as a special team-er, but it remains to be seen whether that can translate into production in the offense. Looking back, it’s fair to say that over the course of the last decade the Rams have had more strike outs and singles than extra base hits.

But they may have hit a home run in 2017 when they selected Eastern Washington’s Cooper Kupp with the 69th overall pick in the third round of the draft. And not necessarily because of what Kupp accomplished in his rookie year — finishing second on the team with 62 receptions, and leading all Rams’ receivers with 869 yards (a figure that was second best among all rookies) — but because of how he intends on learning from his mistakes and becoming a better player in year two and beyond.

These talking heads just don't seem to get it. The reason so many of these black QB's struggle at the pro level is simply because the pro game is too fast for them. They can't process the information quick enough to run an NFL offense.

This is one of the reasons Lamar Jackson will be a bust in the NFL. Another reason is his lack of accuracy. Also he will probably have injury problems when he tries to run too much.

Devin Smith was drafted in the second round by the Jets in 2015 out of Ohio State. In four NFL seasons he has a career total of 10 catches. Dat upside!

Devin Smith went unclaimed on waivers. This was fully expected. Smith has missed the last two years recovering from knee surgeries and was held out of the Jets' offseason program. His NFL career is in doubt.

First round draft pick in 2015 has been a colossal bust:

According to ESPN's Jamison Hensley, Breshad Perriman is in a "battle" to make the Ravens' Week 1 roster. Perriman is owed a $649,485 roster bonus on Saturday and there was some thought he could be released ahead of that deadline, but apparently that won't be the case. However, the former first-round pick is far from a sure thing to crack the Ravens' opening-week roster, particularly after struggling to just 10 catches on 34 targets last year. Even if the draft bust makes Baltimore's 53-man squad, he won't be any better than fourth on the team's receiving depth chart behind offseason adds Michael Crabtree, John Brown and Willie Snead.

He's not only a bust, he's filled with chutzpah, too:

Titans waived OLB Kevin Dodd. The No. 33 overall pick of the 2016 draft, 26-year-old Dodd declined to report when the Titans were due for training camp. He's been unhappy since the Titans traded up for Harold Landry in the second round of April's draft. Dodd has been a mega-bust to this point in his career, forcing his way onto the field for just 271 defensive snaps. He has as many career sacks (one) as starts. Despite his second-round pedigree, Dodd's advanced age for a third-year pro will limit his appeal as a flier on the waiver wire.

2016 1st Rd pick who is part of Panthers 4 man rotation at DT.. He has amassed a whopping 13 tackles and 1.5 sacks so far! Dat upside! Sounds like a nice guy.

Corey Coleman was a "can't miss" prospect, instead he's become yet another early round WR bust. And nice to see the Browns apparently have promoted this year's third round draft choice over Jeff Janis, who is still relegated to special teams/team mascot duty.

Bills acquired WR Corey Coleman from the Browns in exchange for an undisclosed pick in the 2019 NFL draft. It's the second major deal between these two franchises since Tyrod Taylor was sent packing to Cleveland back in March. Coleman is just two seasons removed from being selected No. 15 overall but has missed 13 of a possible 32 games to a pair of broken hands. His presence should immediately slide second-year receiver Zay Jones down Buffalo's depth chart and eat into what was supposed to be sheer volume for Kelvin Benjamin. This move also creates an immediate scenario for Dez Bryant to sign with the Browns. Standout rookie Antonio Callaway is expected to make noise as the team's No. 3 receiver barring any addition.

Two more:

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent DE Marcus Smith is "leaning towards" retirement. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll cited "personal reasons" as the reason for Smith's release last week and now we have a better idea of what he was referring to. Apparently the 26-year-old wasn't fully committed to playing this year. If this it for Smith as a professional football player, the former first-rounder will finish his career with 38 tackles and 6.5 sacks over 43 games for the Philadelphia and Seattle.

Broncos placed G/T Menelik Watson on injured reserve with a pectoral strain. He's only expected to miss about two weeks, though the Broncos plan on releasing him when healthy. The Broncos are clearly admitting defeat as the team won't save any money by cutting him (Watson's $5.5 million salary for 2018 is fully guaranteed). Injuries have limited the 29-year-old to just 34 games (24 starts) since arriving as a second-round pick in 2013.

Broncos S Su'a Cravens has been limited by a knee injury this summer.

He's been held out of both preseason games and has practiced "very little" since the start of training camp. The Broncos had been hoping to try Cravens as a dime linebacker this year, but with the regular season less than three weeks away, he's running out of time to leave his mark.

Totally obscure player drafted in the second round just last year, will be replaced by the endless carousel of mediocre and worse black DBs who are drafted every year.

Raiders waived/injured S Obi Melifonwu. The No. 56 overall pick of the 2017 draft, Melifonwu was limited to just five rookie appearances by knee and hip injuries. The hip issue lingered all offseason. He was sent to visit a specialist for a "lower-body injury" last week, presumably related to his hip. Melifonwu will be exposed to waivers but likely pass through unclaimed, reverting to injured reserve. If he gets healthy, it's possible he will be released with an injury settlement.

The Athletic's Vic Tafur believes Raiders SS Karl Joseph won't start in 2018. Although the Raiders used the No. 16 overall pick on Joseph just two seasons ago, the previous regime clearly thought much higher of him. He's oft been used behind Gruden favorite Erik Harris so far in camp. Tafur believes Oakland's coaching staff thinks Joseph "is too small" and "doesn't make enough plays." On top of that, Tafur reports the Raiders may take a look at new signee Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie at safety. Marcus Gilchrist is in line to start across from Harris.

Ah I remember Joseph well. 5'11 190lb Safety from West Virginia. Funny how his lack of size didn't affect his draft stock couple years back. Dat upside. Reminds me of Jimmie Ward another undersized Safety from Northern Illinois that the 49ers wasted a 1st Rd pick on few years back.

Lots of high picks getting cut and becoming the latest black busts.

• Bills waived WR Corey Coleman.

The Bills acquired Coleman during the first week of August for a seventh-round pick. He was basically unnoticeable during the preseason, hauling in just one ball for seven yards. Coleman is still only 24, so it's much too early to label him a bust [Not at CF it isn't], but he's certainly failed to live up to his first-round pedigree since initially being drafted by Cleveland. If he passes through waivers without being claimed Buffalo will be on the hook for his remaining $3.5 million guaranteed salaries.

• Broncos waived WR Carlos Henderson.

A third-round pick out of Louisiana Tech in 2017, Henderson spent his rookie year on IR before going AWOL from the team this summer. Henderson resurfaced last month in hopes of returning to the team, but the die was already cast. If Henderson is lucky, the Broncos could stash him on the practice squad. The 23-year-old was recently hit with a one-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

• Panthers waived DE Daeshon Hall.

The No. 77 overall pick of the 2017 draft, Hall played just nine snaps before a knee injury landed him on injured reserve. Either he's not healthy or couldn't get back to his pre-injury form. Hall is still only 23. He will hunt for practice squad work.

• Broncos waived CB Brendan Langley.

Langley was a third-round pick in last year's draft. He made 11 rookie appearances, but failed to move the needle. The Broncos also waived 2017 third-round WR Carlos Henderson on Saturday. That's not a good draft.

• Eagles waived RB Donnel Pumphrey.

Pumphrey has been a recent rare swing and a miss by Howie Roseman. He was the Eagles' fourth-round pick last year and was never a blip on the radar. Pumphrey was talked about as the Eagles' next Darren Sproles but was never healthy and is incredibly small at 5'9/176 [No White player would ever be drafted in the 4th round with that height and weight]. He doesn't have an NFL future.

Dolphins megabust Leonte Carroo was also a relatively high draft pick in the long line of cuts today. The Dolphins released him despite trading up in the 3rd round to get him. Another one of Mike Tannenboob's affletes bites the dust.

The Dolphins traded up for Asiata in the fifth round of last year's draft, but he forced himself onto the field only once as a rookie. The Dolphins have had an exceptionally poor draft record in recent years. Perhaps Asiata will be stashed on the practice squad.

49ers released OG Jonathan Cooper.

It's probably not a good sign for your career when you get beat out by Mike Person for the starting job. The Niners employ a bevy of first-round busts at guard, but Cooper couldn't make the cut. He was the No. 7 overall pick in the disastrous 2013 draft by the Cardinals. Cooper is nearing the end. The 49ers gave him a $2 million signing bonus in March, which the team will now eat.

• Broncos released OT Cyrus Kouandjio [2nd round pick in 2014].

The Broncos shopped Kouandjio this preseason, but he was never likely to get traded. Denver saw more upside in OL Sam Jones. There should be some interest in Kouandjio as a swing tackle.

• Jets waived OLB Lorenzo Mauldin.

The No. 82 overall pick [2015] was already on the roster bubble, but then he picked up a hamstring injury, sealing his fate. Mauldin missed all of 2017 with a back injury. He turns 26 in October.

Same college, position and draft year as Trent Taylor. Went two rounds ahead of Taylor because of dat upside - 54 less catches and 300 less yards than Taylor in 2016, 63 less catches and 500 less yards than Taylor in 2015. Taylor had more production, less “upside”, drafted two rounds later, but is still on an NFL roster and will start at receiver for SF.

When looking at the cuts, the large number of black busts waived really stood out, besides the obligatory culling of White talent. Freethinker did a good job of listing the main ones. A huge number of early draft picks over the past decade have been busts, yet it still hasn't registered in the brains of the DWFs. If the corporate media doesn't point it out, they're unable to make routine observations, no matter how obvious. But Ryan Leaf and Tony Mandarich will live forever in infamy!

The Jets' entire 2015 draft class is now gone except for Leonard Williams. And to top off their caste idiocy they cut Chad Hansen, who has Jordy Nelson-type potential, from last year's draft, which hopefully the Patriots will tap:

Saturday wasn’t a good day for Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan. Not only did he face the difficult task of reducing the Jets’ roster to 53 men, but in doing so he had to tacitly admit his shortcomings in drafting players.

The two most notable cuts were both drafted by Maccagnan, who is entering his fourth season in charge of the Jets’ roster: linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin, a 2015 third-round pick, announced he was cut on Instagram, and receiver Chad Hansen, a 2017 fourth-round pick, was also let go.

Neither cut was a surprise because neither player made an impact in training camp or the preseason.

The Jets cut a total of three players from the 2017 draft, Hansen, outside linebacker Dylan Donahue (fifth round) and cornerback Jeremy Clark (sixth round).

Mauldin’s release, along with the release of 2015 seventh-round pick Deon Simon, means that only one player remains from Maccagnan’s entire 2015 draft, his first draft as GM: No. 6 overall pick Leonard Williams.

Receiver Devin Smith (second round), quarterback Bryce Petty (fourth round), offensive guard Jarvis Harrison (fifth round) and defensive tackle, along with Mauldin and Simon are all gone.

That’s not good, nor is it sustainable.
