Recent BUSTS

Idiotic third round 2024 draft pick by the Bengals, who are trending in the wrong direction demographically and on the field as they are an also-ran this season even with the brilliant play of Joe Burrow:

Jermaine Burton (coach’s decision) will not play in Week 18 against the Steelers. On top of a win of their own, the Bengals need the Carson Wentz-led Chiefs to beat the Broncos and Miami to lose versus the Jets this week to make the playoffs. Barring a miracle, Burtons appears to be going out with a whimper as a rookie. The head case receiver went for 107 yards on four receptions this year. Week 18 marks the third time the team has left him off the gameday roster. Burton had known red flags on his profile coming out of Alabama, but the Bengals overlooked them and selected him in the third round. The upside shot has not paid off and it’s now fair to wonder if Burton will even make the roster in 2025.

Anthony Richardson is absolutely getting roasted....his completion percentage is a league-worst 47.7

The Colts knew Richardson’s development was going to take time. He was 20 years old. He’d started just 13 games in college, where his completion percentage was a dismal 54.7. “Ten years ago, he’s not a first-round pick,” said one league source. “Five years ago, he’s not a first-round pick.”

Assistant GM Ed Dodds was initially skeptical, calling Richardson’s one season as a starter at Florida “a roller coaster,” though he later came around on the quarterback.

But he ran a 4.3 40. Everybody knows that’s the most important measure of a QB. The dumbass that drafted this joke still has a job?

It's 100% the Lamar effect. Jackson was raw coming out of college, his throwing motion was worse than Tebow's. But he inexplicably developed into the QB that he is. That's what the scouts. GM's and other talent evaluators are looking for. Black skin is a prerequisite. Very few though will have the mental makeup of Lamar Jackson and so most (probably Richardson as well) will not make it. Won't stop them from drafting the next potential Lamar. Another affirmation is Jayden Daniels in Washington. He was much more polished coming out of college but the skin is it.

Richardson has had a back problem since the 8th grade, apparently, the Colts just found out about it.

He was supposed to be a physical superman, but in addition to being bad when he's played, he's only played in 15 of 32 possible games over his first two seasons.

Like the Patriots, Jim Irsay and his "brain trust" are oblivious to what gave that franchise a great run during Peyton Manning's era as they were consistently the second relatively White friendliest team after New England during that time, or perhaps they just don't care and prefer to march in lockstep to false narratives as NFL franchises are money making machines no matter how bad the product on the field is.

A lot of the Colts success had to do with Bill Polian at GM building a team around Manning. Grigson was unable to build an offensive line which led to the demise of Andrew Luck and Ballard has been all about upsiders and musical chairs at QB. Anyone that saw Richardson play in college should have known he would not be an NFL QB. I still remember the absurd hype around him being pushed by the BSPN talking heads during the opening game against Utah. These "experts" from GMs to scouts get way more credit than they deserve. If anything, they are some of the worst talent evaluators and their whole mission seems to be keeping the caste system afloat.

LMAO! Phidarian Mathis wasn’t expected to be much quickly. He is a 3/4 guy that has never been expected to set the league on fire. He’s always taken a few years to adjust. He may or may not become a so-called busy…too early to say.

Just like I told you to hold off judge on Bryce Young…just because he played like **** his first year, on a trash team, did mean wouldn’t be able to adjust and improve. Young had played very well the past month.

Saban, while at Bama, produced unmatched talent in the draft and lots of it had great, good careers while some of it set NFL records and still is. Deal with it best you can.

Mathis has been a bust. If he was not he would still be with the team that drafted him 2 years ago. Young is what he is, hyped up and did not live up to it. The Panthers aren't going to turn around with him at QB, he's Jake Browning.

Two years into the league…still too early to say for sure. Mathis was average at Bama and not one single Bama fan expected him to be anything more than a role player which is what he was at Bama also.

Bryce Young will keep improving…just admit you were wrong when the time comes. To be honest, the bigger picture is what counts for each of us so let’s hope the present system is destroyed and built back based off merit and work ethic,

If Young ends up being a league average QB who never elevates his team to a perennial playoff squad, will you admit you were wrong? For a #1 overall pick, the expectation should be very good to great with playoffs nearly every year. I don’t foresee that.

Mathis was picked in the second round. He is a bust regardless of how a Bama fan viewed him.

Young has an awful win/loss record through 2 seasons. His player comparison is Jake Browning. Just go back and remember all the hype around Bryce Young in college. That is where all the expectations lie, in the hype which he has not lived up to.

Mathis is a bust in your northern bigoted eyes..for the informed, he was not expected to be more than a role player and he’s also only in his second year.

And again about Young, what part of him only being two years in the league and on the absolute least talented team when he arrived can’t you understand ? Win lose records are not on the rookie qb or a second year qb more so than they show exactly what I said, Carolina is has been poorly coached and has had inferior talent the past two years.

you can have the last word, clearly you need it.

Total bust as a player and a complete piece of crap human being:

TMZ reports Kadarius Toney was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, strangulation, and obstructing/harassing 911 calls. According to TMZ, Toney has been accused of “putting his hand around a woman’s throat during a dispute at a Georgia residence on Jan. 14.” Warrants were put out for his arrest the next day and he was brought in by the police on February 6th. Toney briefly played for the Browns last year but was cut after muffing a punt and being penalized for taunting. His career was already hanging on by a thread before this incident. Needless to say, we have seen the last NFL snap for the former first-round pick.

Second round draft pick in 2022, yet another wretched early WR pick by The Genius, has 39 total catches in three NFL seasons, big time bust.

Chiefs signed WR Tyquan Thornton to a reserve/future contract. The former second-round pick was waived by the Patriots midseason and landed on Kansas City’s practice squad. He never made an appearance for the team but will get a shot at a roster spot this summer.

To best of my knowledge and from what I read scrolling back through, I don’t believe I’ve said Young will become nor is he an elite qb or great athlete. I’ve said it’s too early to judge and I expect him to improve especially as the talent around him gets to a somewhat competitive level. I have said Young has always shown himself to be of good character and has good work ethic.

To be honest, I WOULD NOT have traded up to get him like Carolina did. I probably wouldn’t have drafted him number one. I would have traded down and gotten numerous picks because I’m not a fan of small qbs. If I have guaranteed Young to become a great nfl qb then please show me…so if I have (but I haven’t) and then, if he doesn’t then of course I would admit I was

Ridder may have been mentioned earlier in this epic thread but if so it doesn't hurt to do so again. Bust!

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the Raiders will not tender restricted free agent QB Desmond Ridder. This means that Ridder will become part of the free agent class in a few weeks. Originally drafted in the third round by the Falcons, Ridder was traded to Arizona after the team signed Kirk Cousins. He failed to earn the backup gig over Clayton Tune and was cut by Arizona and re-signed to their practice squad. The Raiders eventually picked him up after Aidan O’Connell went down with an injury. Ridder made one start and appeared in a handful of other games. He threw for 458 yards at 5.4 yards per attempt with two touchdowns and as many interceptions in 2024. No matter where Ridder lands in free agency, he will be fighting for a roster spot during the summer.

Ok, so don’t think he’ll be great or elite. What then are you arguing on this bust thread? That’s it’s too soon to declare it? Perhaps, but if we are looking at the #1 overall pick over 28 career starts what other conclusion could we come to thus far? Look at these stats and the corresponding win percentage. Abysmal.

I’d say the most damning stat is only 26 TD passing vs 28 starts. At less than one per game, one has to conclude a game manager. However, then you’d need have high competition percentages, a decent QB rating and some wins. What we see so far is a conservative, game manager possibly too afraid to make mistakes which is losing in the worst way possible.
