I'd rank them in the following order for Rex to actually play RB and not be moved to safety:

1. Kansas- pretty self explanatory they have Sharp

2. Cal- They went after McGuffie hard meaning they'll give white RBs a shot at least

3. Texas Tech- you have to give them credit for all the white WRs they put out there but Rex would never carry the rock since they always throw and he'd be moved to WR

4. LSU- Hester wasn't treated like a HB. I mean come on they had the guy playing FB in the title game in their goal line set up. The SEC ain't no place for a white RB to go.

He may be going to Kentucky. His dad played football at Eastern Kentucky and he has family there.

Not sure which games stargazer been to, but not any of those I have seen for the last three years, much less the 7 on 7 I have also watched Rex compete in. Oh, by the way i haven't missed a game or 7 on 7 tournament the last 3 years.

If a legitimate 4.5 40 time, 3.8 shuttle time and a 38" VL  is too slow to play college ball, guess a whole lot of kids out there today don't belong.

He has well over 2 dozen Div 1 offers, several more on the way and virtually all for RB, guess maybe he's got a little potential, don't ya think stargazer?

Whoever is fortunate enough to land Rex will get a great athlete and great football player which is quite evident to everyone but stargazer. Beyond that they will get a great student and an extremely hard working kid, who is as humble as any athlete you will meet at any level.

Coach4sure...you sound like Rex's brother Ryan...I'm glad Rex has someone like you looking out for him.
I agree Rex is a good student, he is hard working, and he is humble. Despite 23 scholarship offers, he will not be an impact running back at the college level...
This forum is a place for opinions and that is mine.
He is a too slow as a "Barry Sanders" type running back, and not elusive enough as an "Emmitt Smith" type running back. Given that...how many people are Smith or Sanders...not many...it's just an analogy of what he lacks for RB.

He should go to Texas Tech and become another Wes Welker...but he won't...he's being recruited so much he'll be pressured by those close to him to choose the wrong college for the wrong reasons.

A solid college player at some position...I agree...that will be the end of Rex's career...and he'll be smart enough to become an agent for the ones who make it to the NFL......I am a great fan of Rex....but I'm not drinking the coolaid.

I think the kid has the "it" factor to make it to the next level. You can tell he plays for the love of the game, not to have somebody tell him how great he is or to show off.

From everything I have heard and from what I saw the last two years he seemed really focused on where and what he needed to do and he doesn't seem to worry about what everybody else is doing. That is the winners attitude and player that plays for the love and those type of players can make it in the NFL if they stay healthy.

It really doesn't matter what position he plays because he has the versitility, he could be a great college player and a special team guru in the NFL or he can end up being a great player in the NFL, only time will tell.

I don't know if he has the speed or not, but compared to the rest of the Plano backfield, including the fullback and quarterback, he looked really quick, powerful and fast; he had great ball handling skills, great blocker and he did not turn the ball over much, all the qualities needed. Emmitt was a 4.65 guy in his prime, so I don't think anything like that matters.

I know we would love to have him in Allen, anyday, anytime. Since probably less than 1% make it to the NFL it is not much of a stretch to say he won't make it, but if he gets through HS, College healthy and gets to a pro camp, look for him on the roster, he seems to have the work ethic, knowledge, versitility and know-how to get picked up...and I can guarantee you I am not drinking any coolaid from a Plano player, but I am also not drinking the Hateraid. stargazer, exactly why are you on the board? You haven't contributed anything but criticism towards a white athlete as far as I can tell.

Stargazer your a F*** Troll get off of this site. Rex can play at the next level and the level after that you are the reason we have this site. I will ask you this why pick on Burkhead when their are so many black running backs with much worse skills than his that will get an oppurtunity to play college ball when they really don't deserve the chance. Many blacks are given a pass on talent and character issues just because it is a perceived lie that that blacks are better at football. You either get with the program or get off of this site that means no more bashing of white players skilled or unskilled.

The question by ToughJ.Riggins was which school should Rex pick. I answered Texas Tech. But you decide to not answer and question why I am on this board. So, Colonel, why don't you contribute with analysis, instead of putting others down for their opinions.
I guess your definition of contribution is to agree with your opinion. I have said many nice things about Rex...I didn't think this was the Rex Burkhead Fan Club forum where no alternate points of view are allowed.

Stargazer, I don't know if you are a troll or not. But we have had to deal with alot of them around here and when your very first post dismisses Rex's ability to play tb at the next level, then it perfectly reasonable for us to wonder why you are really here. As far as you telling Reb to contribute to this site, that's a big laugh because nobody contributes more than him. If you are for real, then get with the program around here. Establish some credibilty first and then you can critique all you want about whether a certain white athlete has the skills to make it or not. If you are not for real, get lost. If you are, stick around.

I guess I jumped the gun at guessing 2/10 of a second too slow, I just made that up. From my personal experience as a fan it appears that he cannot run away from people in an explosive manner. So I figured it was 1/10 - 2/10's of a second slower than a blue chip running back. I didn't know his times in the 40, I was basing my guess on observations.

If this is the kind of analysis you are looking for, I can't help you. Your negative opinion of Rex makesreal contributingposters suspicious of your motives for being here, but continuing your current behavior towards contributing posters will get you kicked off the board. Youshould change your MO if you want to hang around for a while.

Stargazer that's fine if you want to criticize one player you seem to know a lot about. It seems you have watched him play live and therefore are entitled to your own opinion. That is perfectly fine. The problem seems to be that your posts are only about Rex's ability to not make it as a RB. That's fine there in and of itself but if the only thing you contribute to the site is negative analysis' of Rex then it makes some wonder if you have the right intentions when posting. So in essence you sort of come off as a troll. However, no one is saying you are but there have been people on here before who started off like this and their "trollness" was eventually exposed.

stargazer,

Maybe this board is a better fit for you?....

http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?S=188&F=1654&T=2472081&P=1

I think burk can play the H... But I think he will be a very good Saftey in college. We also have a kid Keldon Hampton that likes Tech alot

I've heard he's more destined though to play defense in college, instead of on the offensive side of the ball.

There were a few good posts in the thread, but the thread was mostly mindless and many are sucking that Caste System theology right out of the straw.

Scary thing is, some of them may not even know it because they are so locked into the "team" mindset. This is the thing, though... there's almost always an element of self-loathing. It shows itself when they invariably demand the White players to be "team" (do whats best for the team) guys, while NOT demanding the same from the "talented" affletic (sacred) gods. "Their" Gods....

My guess it is a jealous parent from Plano, there are plenty of those snake in the grass folks that feel better about their kid by putting somebody elses kid down. Especially in Plano.

Stargazer, you talk like you know Rex and now after reading yourcontiued postsI wonder if you have ever watched a Plano game or Rex.

Peer pressure, geez get real, quit talking out of your A**.

I guess with now 30+ offers that he might be considered to be at least ok, right? And with your excellent analysis on his pro prospects I'm sure will be utilized by the likes of Parcells and Jones, right?

If you're so into Plano football and Rex, name the other top recruits on the team and give us your analysis. I question if you know anything about Rex or Plano football.

Coming in and behaving like this to one of the most respected posters on the site is not a good way to establish your credibility, despite what your opinions are. Provide some perspectives of your own, and don't hate.

Wow, I just checked some Burkhead highlights on Youtube, this kid is a Sam McGuffie type player with a little less burst and speed. His agility is very impressive and I think he breaks tackles better than McGuffie! He seems to have a super human sense of the field when avoiding tacklers.

I was just checking rivals they have Rex listed as a 4 star all purpose back now on their list right behind Brandon Wegher. Two white four star running backs rivals computer must be malfunctioning lol.

the plano football teams is ranked no.10 in the country byt rivals, and they seem to think its in big part because of Rex :

10Plano&nbsp ;PlanoTX&nbs p;vs MacArthur - 8/29
After a few down seasons, Plano has returned to the national stage. Rex Burkhead is one of the top all-purpose backs in the country. The Wildcats look to make some serious noise in Texas.

Maybe Rivals realizes their cover will be blown as anti-white zealots if they don't at least try to be a little fair. Scout, Lemming, Rise Prep, SI's Takkle etc. etc. are much better than Rivals and ESPN.

However, I am shocked by Scout ranking Rex as the 35th WR? Just ridiculous! This guy should be ranked somewhere in the top 20 overall "at RB". And Hunter Furr as the 90th Safety? Hunter should be ranked in the 20-50 range at RB. And Scout has Mike Trumpy at 127 or something when by my reviews he should be ranked in the top 20 also! Is Scout going downhill and Black Power Rivals improving? We shall see.

Brandon Wegher is the second best RB in the country IMO, just like Sam McGuffie was 1st or second best last year! They have similar styles!Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

If I were Burkhead, I would pick Kansas. It will be Sharp this year, than probably Crawford next and maybe then Burkhead's turn! I hope this kid doesn't make a dumb college choice and is somewhat aware of the caste system. This kid sees the field with almost the level of burst and agility of Sam McGuffie, definitely with less speed, but probably a little extra power.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

i had the pleasure of watching Rex play on Fox Sports Southwest tonight. he's a hell of a back.

superb vision, excellent quickness, breaks a lot of tackles, above average receiver out of the backfield, and he always falls forward when he's finally dragged down. he has all the tools to play at the next level.

in tonight's game, he averaged almost 10 yards per carry (13 rushes, 128 yards, and 3 touchdowns i believe were his final numbers), had a couple of nice catch-and-runs, and even stripped the opposing ball carrier while playing defense on a 2-point conversion attempt, recovering the forced fumble, and running it 98 yards for 2 points for Plano.

a tremendous all-around game for a tremendous all-around back.

i just hope he goes somewhere that will use on the proper side of the ball. at tailback.
