anybody else curious why they bulked up a 4.47-40, 205-pound TB, putting 30 pounds on him to block for other backs with less talent?

this happens ALL the time, just look at Peyton Hillis at Arkansas who is a very similar player to Leonard. the same f-ing thing is happening to him, only his coaches "say" they plan on featuring him in a similar manner to Brian, but in reality he just lines up and gets to block a lot.

Brian had 24 carries for 78 yards and 2 TD's in a loss against West Virginia today. He also had 4 catches for 15 yards.

For some reason (Caste System I'm sure), Rutgers didn't use Brian much at RB today, but they managed to pull out a close win over Connecticut. Brian did have 10 carries for 26 yards. He also had 4 cacthes for 46 yards and a TD.

Brian has 2 TD's on just 4 carries and 16 yards before halftime. He also has 2 catches for 18 yards.

Brian ended up with 19 carries and 58 yards in a limited day of rushes, but he ended up being the teams leading receiver with 7 receptions for 53 yards, and all purpose yardage leader with 111!

South Florida jumped out to a 21-0 lead over Rutgers, who had 2 turnovers, but Brian just scored a TD pass 2 minutes into the 2'nd quarter. I hope they keep giving him the ball, either on the ground or through the air.

Brian ended up with 8 carries for 7 yards and a TD, and 5 catches for 41 yards and a TD in an upset loss to USF.

Brian will have his toughest test of the year tonight against Louisville. I hope he gets the ball a fair number of times.

On his first carry tonight he hurdled a would-be tackler in a way that is almmost indescribable! You have to see it to believe it.

Brian led Rutgers with 42 yards on 9 carries, and was the receptions leader with 5 for 21 yards. They got killed by Louisville, but he was the best player for Rutgers, just like he has been all year.

I turned on the game briefly after reading Surfsider's post, just in time to watch Louisville QB Brian Brohm make a nifty 10-yard run. The white play by play announcer immediately said, "He's not known for his athleticism," which was immediately echoed by the white color announcer, who also specifically used the words "lack of athleticism." Only the third member of the announcing crew, a black, said something decent: "He must have been watching Stefan LeFors last year," referring to Louisville's extremely mobile white starter at the position before Brohm.


Brohm is something like second in the country in completion percentage and overall passing efficiency, but he has no "athleticism" based solely on one criterion --he can't run like a cheetah.


Most black quarterbacks often have problems throwing10 yard passes accurately yet every last one of them is supposedlya great athlete.


Every definition of "athleticism" is based on thesingle area where blacks on average have a small advantage over whites.


Sorry to get away from Brian Leonard, but it burns me up to turn on a game for three minutes and hear this crap uttered like it's the basic tenet of aThird Worldreligion.

this is a good article about Leonard... he is already being compared to Mike Alstott

i only wish he will be drafted by a team that will use him as a featured back or at least let him split carries evenly...

what team would be a good fit for Leonard?
does anyone know if he is coming back to school for his final year or leaving early?

Rutgers and Brian Leonard are taking on Cincinnati rigth now. Hopefully Brian will have another good day and get to show himself even more in a good bowl game in a few weeks. Keep up the good running Brian!

Brian just scored on 12 yard carry! so far his stats are: 2 runs for 35 yards and 1 catch for 5 yards... oh yeah baby!

In the Insight Bowl, Brian had 10 carries for 45 yards and a TD as the second back. He also had 6 catches for 98 yards and a TD! Even though Brian is not being used to his potential, he still led Rutgers in scoring by a considerable margin over his black teammates this year. Congratulations on another year of taking no prisoners and running like the wind Brian!

I second that Colonel_Reb!I just love watching this kid play.He has amazing moves for a big guy.He can really juke alot and make people miss.He has it all.Speed,power,moves and great vision.What's not to like?Maybe a team like the Cardinals will take a chance on him.They have rarely had a 100 yard rusher all season.Give the kid a chance to be a star!

Brian announced today that he will stay at Rutgers for his senior season.He led the team in rushing this past season.I hope this is the right choice for him.They need to get him the ball more.He should have easily had over 1000 yards rushing if he just got more touches.Good luck to him next season.

well, i don't know whether i am happy or not about his decision, seems to me like he could have played in NFL already but i am also glad that he decided to continue education... if all goes well he may be one of the top RBs in the draft next year... i would love to see a white runningback taken in first 2 rounds of a draft (Alstott was taken in second)
