I dunno, I think he's making a mistake by returning for his senior season. If his production numbers drop even slightly, the caste will seize upon him and say that his junior year was a fluke, and now he looks slow just like other White RB's, we knew he wasn't that good, blah, blah, blah...

Sticking around to work toward your degree as a college athlete is overrated; Leonard is probably close to having enough credit hours to graduate, and he can finish up in the off-season pretty easily. But the window of opportunity to pay in the NFL - especially for a Caucasian running back - is miniscule and you should strike while the iron is hot.

Assuming that the NFL has any interest inLeonard at all other than to beef him up 25 pounds for his racially correct role as a blocking fullback is a stretch. There is usually one or two good running backs (or running fullbacks) in I-A each year and loads of them in small college programs. None get a chance to run the ball in the NFL and I've yet to read anything different about Brian Leonard. When he's not even allowed to be a tailback in college, it's hard to be optimistic about his chances as a pro.

i agree with Southern Knight, he should have entered this year, he would have gone in 3rd round according to several experts, which is not bad for white fullback... he is such an extraordinary talent that any NFL team will HAVE to give him some carries/passes and i am sure Brian will make the best out of them... If Alstott retires next year i would love to see Leonard in Tampa, maybe Gruden (whose ego can't bear all the fan affection towwards Mike Alstott) will treat him better than he did Mike...

Except Bill Cowher will never use him as a running back. I don't know if you remember Merrill Hoge, but he was the Steelers main running back when Cowher took over from Chuck Noll (Hoge was the last starting white running back in the NFL of any consequence), and Cowher promptly converted him into a blocking fullback. Dan Kreider gets about 2 carries a season. But I don't know if any team will give Leonard the opportunity to run the ball.

Wow .....I did not know that about Merril Hodge. kinda funny because on t.v. he is so overtly pro-black and a caste follower, you would think he of all people would question the caste system at play.

Here's a quote from a Sporting News article that deals with several subjects: "Lost amid all the heading-for-the-NFL talk: Rutgers FB Brian Leonard will stay for his senior season. Leonard and rising sophomore-to-be Ray Rice give Rutgers the top backfield combination in the nation in 2006."

Let's hope Leonard gets the ball more than Rice next year.

yeah this Rice kid is actually pretty good but Leonard still got most of short yardage and 4th quarter carries plus many more during every game... Brian is also a great receiver out of the backfield, really reminds me of Mike Alstott, but has even better speed and hands!

Here's an article on Leonard. Compares him favorably to Riggins and Alstott, but also notes how the NFL loves not only how he runs and catches but how he blocks. Other than the pass blocking all tailbacks have to do, the last thing you'd want is to take years off the career of a talented RB by making him block, but of course he's white therefore he has to be a fullback, blah, blah, blah.

why must every article, and even his own team, always refer to him as a "fullback"? why not "running back"? he's much better than the scat back who occasionally lines up behind him, and he's a complete player!

can you imagine a team that lined up out of split backs as their base formation, with a couple of all-around backs like Leonard and Peyton Hillis?

they would be nearly unstoppable, simply because the defense would have no idea who to key on. it would awesome!

yet, coaches refuse to give many of these types of backs opportunities except purely as blockers.

This guy had 107 TDs! in high school. That is some sick ass stuff right there. That's +25 a year. Most guys are lucky to get 25 TDs in a high career let alone average that a season.

wow, what a leap by Leonard. Can anyone fill me in on Hillis? What year is he? Is he an RB or FB? Is he utilized at all?

Hillis had 315 yards rushing and 402 receiving last year as a sophomore. 235 pounds with 4.49 speed and lots of running ability. Since he's white he's used as a fullback but with such overwhelming talent he's another guy who may get a chance as atailback if even one team in the NFL ever gets its head out of its ass.

Hopefully they'll use Leonard like they did Alstott at the next level. You know give him a decent amount of carries so he can almost get to the 1,000 yard mark like Mike did that one season. Since a team would never use a white guy at RB full time.

That's a good observation. When a White is a great athlete they are called "freaks". I've heard Urlacher, Jones, and Nowitzki called this.

I like how they say he could be a feature back at the next level but they know he will probably be regulated to white Moose Johnston FB role. I'm hopimng they give Brian at least the treatment the Bucs gave Alstott(early in his career) and let him run the ball a decent amount of times.
