Preseason updates.

Thought I'd stay current with some updates on position battles, etc.

OFFENSE

G Todd Herremans looks to retain his starting spot from last year, despite some speculation in the offseason that he might lose his job to a "bigger, stronger" G.

OT Big John Runyan, of course, is not moving anytime soon.

TE Brent Celek is going to be the #2 TE this year, thanks to a few stellar starts at the end of last season.

TE Matt Schobel has fought off competition from free agent Kris "I'm Not Tony Gonzalez" Wilson and will most likely make the cut.

WR Kevin Curtis has solidified the #1 spot and looks to have another great season despite Philadelphia fans' cries for a "true number one WR."

FB (HB

) Luke Lawton is battling for the starting fullback job, which is essentially up in the air.

Rookie linemen Mike McGlynn and Mike Gibson will make he team, be they reserves or practice squaders.

DEFENSE

MLB Stewart Bradley looks to make plays this year in his first year as a starting LB.

SLB Chris Gocong (Mixed, white/Islander/Portuguese) will build on a strong first year as a physical run stopper since being moved from DE.

DT Dan Klecko made a strong case for making the roster in camp, as he is currently listed as the 4th DT.

Veteran LB Rocky Boiman will most likely make the team as a special teams ace, his career "specialty."

SS Sean Considine will also contribute on special teams as a reserve safety.

---These position battles are the only ones where I see a white player breaking out or excelling. The Eagles have more white athletes on their roster than this, but probably won't have much of a shot at any playing time, or a roster spot for that matter.---Edited by: PhillyBirds

The Eagles might be whiter than they have been in years if certain players are given a chance despite not having the proper pigmentation.

Gasperson was active for one game last year and was thrown to once for an incompletion. Last year was his third year on the practice squad, so I think the Eagles will unfortunately let him go. He has great hands, and could make a solid posession receiver elsewhere.

Sorry about that! That's a pretty big omission...

Studebaker is a tremendous athlete. However, the Eagles moved him from DE, and the transition from D-III end to NFL linebacker has produced some hiccups from what I understand. However, the Eagles will most likely PS him, as his talent is too much to pass up. He is under contract for 4 years and could break the 53-man sooner rather than later.

Eagles cut (With descriptions from PhiladelphiaEagles.com):

Jed Collins (FB) Good on special teams, but not enough on offense.

Michael Gasperson (WR) Former practice squad project came on late in preseason. (Sort of upset about this one. More talent than folks like Greg Lewis...)

Mike Marquardt (DT) Good size, Had sack in preseason finale.

Andy Studebaker (LB) Small-school defensive end learning linebacker spot.

Scott Young (G) Experienced reserve should find job pretty quickly.

Word on the street is that Studebaker is going to get PS'd.

Gasperson getting released is unreal. I really dont know what to say anymore.

Did that braindead fat-boy Andy Reid even watch the pre-season games? After years of watching this annual ethnic cleansing, I'm convinced that the "powers that be" are telling these puppet coaches to keep a certain number of whites and blacks at certain positions....it's the only way this horesh*t could be true or possible or even feasable.

Remember WR Chris Samp? He and Gasperson are actually more talented than every current Eagle WR, even Kevis Curtis. It's true. So why does the NFL only "pick" or "allow" whites who are small, possession WRs (Bennett, Jurevicious, Jones, and Walter excluded)? This "mystery" could be solved by a 10-year old. They dont want the turd-brain white fans believing that the "common" man could make it in the NFL too...Edited by: Thrashen

Isee it asself regulation by the coaches, GMs and owners, just as the announcers know the rules withoutanything needing to be putin writing. The difference between the blackest team (Jaguars) and the "whiter" ones (Colts, Patriots) really isn't much -- more white o-linemen, whiter QBs, asingle white WRand a few more white backup defensive players. All three teams are from predominantly to overwhelmingly black and start all black defenses except for Vrabel and Bruschi, bothin the latter partof their careers.


It's like this throughout society when it comes to race --no one dares challenge the orthodoxy except in very incremental ways no matter how they feel privately. They know that doing so overtlywill bring instant condemnation and the end of their status as a well-paid public figure. The best we can hope for in football and basketball is incremental movement away from the entrenched status quo, which may be happening ever so slightly in major college football and basketball.

UPDATE

LB Andy Studebaker, DT Mike Marquardt and FB Jed Collins were added to the practice squad. Encouraging!

However, for some strange reason, LB Rocky Boiman was released. I honestly don't understand this one.Edited by: PhillyBirds

Most of the Eagles fans on discussion boards are puzzled why the Eagles got rid of Gasperson. He had an explosive preseason when he saw the field, and was especially prominent in their last game against the Jets.

Even the Drunk White Fans were confused, and in places a little mad. The Eagles kept GREG LEWIS as their sixth WR over a tall, strong, playmaker.

Thanks, Philadelphia. You never cease to disgust.

I am happy, however, that Dan Klecko made the team. He is on the depth chart as the 3rd DT, and will be seen on 3rd downs! He really fought hard after the failed fullback experiment, hard enough to earn himself a spot. Well done, Dan.Edited by: PhillyBirds
