Thanks DWID, hopefully Jeremy will be healed up for the SB so America can see a truely great atheletic TE perform 100% on the world stage. I always liked him, but it seems that he is always injuried.
The best thing about this SB is weather Manning can further cement his greatness or if Brees can establish himself as a future HOF quaterback. If I had to bet, the truck load of cash would be dumped on Manning.

Well Manning will be playing for the team he grew up idolizing I doubt it will affect him any, but I think it will be a little closer since Brees has gotten the Saints over the hump of never getting to the big game, there is no pressure to win it like there was for this game, maybe his receivers will stop juggling passes. Brees looks like a future hall of famer, but needs a super bowl win to solidfy it. I will be happy either way if Manning or Brees gets a win.
As for Shockey, yeah he is always nicked up, its just the way he plays the game, with wreckless abandon with no regard for his body, instead of going out of bounds he will stay in bounds to gain one yard even though he already has a first down. Then he plays hurt which probably makes a 1 week injury turn into one that lingers for the season. He truly is a great TE that has gotten too much flack from the media for not being a usual quiet type of White player, he runs his mouth and they don't like when White guys do that. Hes just as fast as a wide receiver at 4.5 and they line him up like that quite a bit. Hes one of my favorite tight ends in the league. They also line David Thomas up as a wide receiver for a decent number of plays, he was underused in NE and has been doing well, he had a great college career.Edited by: dwid

I think it's getting to the point that we're giving too much "credit" to the "DWFs." If they want to spend all their time worshipping affletes on various internet forums and calling Whites "lame" (and ignoring stats/production; Always intentionally using faulty rationalization) - odds are they are living an awful existence.
Example (of their behavior): If the Colts win the Super Bowl they could say, "Well, Brees threw 2 picks" or "the Saints were inferior anyway; Favre - with his awesome arsenal of Sidney Rice, Percy Harvin, Shiancoe and Berrian - would have had a better chance to compete with Indy!"
Do we really need "validation" from dishonest/jealous folks? There are folks that are curious about reality and we can talk to them, and then there are folks/media that make things up ad infinitum like - "Super Bowl MVP Reggie Wayne LEADS his Colts to Super Bowl 44 Triumph!" That's something the AP would do. Whether Brees or Peyton wins, we shall see if another afflete gets the MVP trophy...

Re: stats. They can be a double-edged sword. The Vikings, with their worthless corps of receivers, were the second highest scoring team in the league.
I guess we can say perhaps they'd have scored even more points with a better crew of receivers, I don't know. In my opinion the main problem with the Vikings that past couple of years is named Tavaris Jackson.

All in all a good Championship Sunday of football for our cause. Manning was brilliant and Brees is going to get some well deserved media attention for the next two weeks. Our guys were catching TD passes and keeping the vaunted Vikings & Jets pass rushes at bay.
I do feel bad for Favre for the simple reason that he deserved to get to the Super Bowl. Once again the officiating, despite the benefit of instant replay, still blew critical calls at the most crucial times late in the game.
The product that is the NFL looked woefully incompetent from the star affeletes to the bad calls to the useless replay system. And Sunday was supposed to represent the NFL's best. A total joke.

GWTJ, the hit to Favre's knees was just as illegal as the face mask take down used on Warner that ended his playoff game.The officiating in the NFL is resembling scripted WWF performances, which in turn have tremendous outcomes on games.

They said the Jets had a "fighter's chance" in Indy. Well, for the 1st Half they won it clearly on points. Giving up a late TD as Collie dominated on the drive was the omen though. Manning is probably the best game tactician QB ever. Perhaps will be the best of all time when he's done. Jets hung in for the 1st half and played overall pretty decent, but they just had no answer for Manning once he figured them out. The OL also adjusted and neutralized the vaunted Jets D. The clearly better team from top to bottom won. Jets are not designed to be a come from behind team and the underdog fighter got pummeled into submission. Rookie Sanchez played decent, a solid 1st half, but was lost in the 2nd half. Best days are ahead of him, but a rookie on the road in that sort of game....no way, not ready and it showed as he started missing guys who were open in the 2nd half. But Manning just took this Jets D by the horns, dissected it, analyzed it, took the weakness and beat them over the head with it. Pure Class from an all time great.
(Key Caste Note: Woodhead not even able to suit up; did Ryan think he would blow the Colts out of the stadium and wouldn't need a dynamic player just in case of the flow of the game?
As for Colts, Garcon will get all the Haiti interest story attention and yes, he did make catches. Yet, Manning must love Clark and Collie since loud mouth Wayne was shut down by the human blanket Revis).
NFC Championship:
Quite a game imho. I must say I was at least entertained. Looked like a crazy Offensive shootout from the 1st Quarter. Defenses adjusted and started to hit QBs and receivers at the line and really put the beat down on people. This slowed the timing down and took it's toll.
Human Fumble Machine Adrian Peterson negated some decent runs with fumblitis and losing the ball in absolutely CRITICAL times. Wow! Not just him, Berrian fumbled too. Farve? We'll get to that in a minute.
Saints defense made some ball hawking plays which truly kept them in the game. Viks D basically held NO's offense in check during the 2nd half. The pass rush was really coming down on Brees and the mostly sumo OL. The game settled in and the Vikings Offense was their own worst enemy. was it 5 or 6 turnovers lost? How can you expect to win a championship game on the road doing that?
Let's talk last drive of regulation when the Vikings got in Longwell's range (barely). Ok, the offensive coaches were lost as I saw and a major angry debate started on the sideline. Exactly like the Bears MNF game late in the year, some Viking coaches wanted to run, others (Farve?) evidently wanted to pass....chaos ensues, wrong package and an extra man is in the huddle. Penalty in the last minute when you are in FG range. Ok, now they are on the outer limits of Longwell's range and that would have been no gimmie in the Superdome obviously. I think it would've been a 55 Yarder.
They decide to pass since it was on 3rd and now long. They roll Farve out who has been beat up and hobbling most of the game. He throws across his body to the middle of the field. Didn't see the Saints DB nearby who comes in front of Berrian and snatches the INT. He almost took it back too but Hutchinson slows him up in the garbage and he gets taken down. WTF was that?
First off, when they got across the 50 after Taylor's nice run, there is just over a minute. Plenty of time. I think they had 2 TOs at this time too. They run again, which loses 2 (KEY) yards. They let some key seconds run down as they didn't want to leave any time on the clock for Brees. Fine. But that caused them to get sloppy and indecisive in play calling. Not the best 'in the battle' tactical skill there Vikings Offense.
The roll out was risky. They had a final TO so they wanted to get some field for Longwell and a throw in the middle would have been fine since they had a TO.
Yet, like Farve from day 1 in Atlanta, it is high risk high reward with him. And I suppose that is part of the fun. It is conceivable that Farve's last pass will be a INT in the dying seconds of a NFC championship game against his home town team. Fitting. It has to come full circle I suppose.
Farve got really beat up and he is no pretty much non-mobile. Sad, but true.
Drive in OT: not sure what some of you saw, but that was a catch just before the FG. The spot on Thomas's dive? Iffy, yes, but not indisputable proof that he didn't make it and was juggling. Now, what was BS was the pass interference call. It was clearly over his head.
They did go to replay on some of the questionable calls so I guess that was good. It really slowed down the game in OT.
Young rookie nails it to send his team to the SB. I hate rooting against kickers and was really happy for this kid to make such a key FG.
Maybe the NFL should go to college OT format. I know there is a lot of debate about the coin flip. All for tradition, but the college format is more fair. And more exciting imho.
Bottom line: fumbles and INTs did the Vikings in. Some poor on the field choices on the last drive too. Vikings D played a hello f a game, as did the Saints too.
(Caste note: the beast Jared Allen had to be double teamed all the time and he still broke through causing havoc. Fujita and Shanle played outstanding too for the Saints. 2 veteran QBs battled it out against really good defenses. They were getting hit quite a bit. David Thomas will be a TE super star in this league).

I felt the Jets defense would be able to keep the game close. They held Indy in check the first half but made some boneheaded plays in the second half.

Reggie Bush(league) & gAy-P again proved they're both overhyped, butterfingered affletes. It was good to see Collie & Manning tear it up. I guess I'll pull for the Colts in the SB, although I'm not big on their coal-black defense or coach.
My deepest condolences to shocked Viking fans and Favre Kool-Aid drinkers. I feel/felt your pain countless times.

I knew he was going to throw a game-killing pick but seeing it actually happen was bitter. If he tucks and runs a few yards they probably kick it and win. When they lost the coin flip I knew it was over. I would support the college method of OT bigtime. It's a lot more fair.

They can make Favre the scapegoat if they want with the INT at the end...but what about AP's fumbles; Berrian's; Harvin's??? The Vikings would not have gotten as far as the NFC Championship w/o Favre...what about their O-Line that was allowing him to get blasted too many times to count?? Favre is a warrior...like Saints DE-Bobby McCray said "you could run Bret over with a truck and I gaurantee he would get up & still keep going"...maybe Favre would have ran the 5 or 6 yards had he not hurt his ankle...some of his throws were like laser darts that were well defended...but how do you play defense for the perfect pass?? Favre is the main reason players like WR-Sidney Rice & TE Shaincoe were able to elevate their games to the next level...

Shanle & Fujita have stood the test of time; starters for Saints since 06' unable to supplanted by the more atletic affletes....under-rated but much appreciated! Bush(muffed punt)owes Fujita a steak diner for recovering AP's fumble! The Saints miss versatile fullback Heath Evans who's been on IR since game 7....it's a shame Shockey can't seem to stay healthy...Dave Thomas has been a nice addition stepping it up!

For me its a toss up. I like both the Colts and Saints about the same, either way I think it has the potential to be an epic game.

The thing they never talk about when bringing up Katrina is all the White people it affected, in fact more White people were affected/died than black. My grandpa died in the hurricane because he was stubborn to leave but he wasn't stupid or living in a fish bowl, he lived just outside the city. Usually you get told to leave, you leave, not much happens and then come back and all of your sh*t has been broken into and stolen, he could't be convinced that this one would be serious, but maybe he wanted to die since his wife died a year ago and wasn't the same.

People from areas like Chalmette got it much worse, or even in places like Pass Christian but these places are never mentioned when they bring up Katrina. Whites also lost more and had more property damage, yet blacks got more aid and set up in other parts of the country in places much better than the projects or section 8 shotgun houses they previously lived in. My house also sustained damage living an hour away from the city. Plenty of the damage in the actual city was caused by black people who went nuts and looted and tore the city apart, killing and raping while they were tearing the city apart. The outside area's received more damage but the Whiter communities didn't act like savages or try to attack the people coming to their aid.

They have Brees, Stinchcomb, Shockey, David Thomas, Kyle Eckel, Zach Strief (who was used as an extra blocker for a significant number of snaps), Scott Shanle, Scott Fujita, Jeff Charleston (who saw a significant number of snaps because sumo DE Grant is out for the season). The main thing the Saints could use is a Whiter line, Brees has such a quick release and gets the ball out quick for the most part, but imagine what he could do with the Patriots line. Mike Hass should also be playing for this team. There is nothing about Lance Moore or Marques Colston that Hass wouldn't be able to do, both of these guys run lcose to the 4.6 range and Lance Moore is 5'8 or 5'9, I guess him being 1/8th black got him more time to develop on the practice squad for a roster spot than Hass.
Really, it doesn't matter who wins, I will be rooting for the White players (which drives my Wife and Dad nuts when they ask "who are you pulling for?" and I respond "the White guys!"
btw Shockey should be healthy enough to make a big impact in this game, it will have been 3 weeks since he first had the knee bruise.
Its a shame Favre is the scapegoat for this lost, btw the first hit seemed to be clean which got a flag, but then the next hit which was illgal didn't get the flag, so I don't know whats up with that. Brees also got criticism from Saints fans who claim he almost cost them the game, this is the day after he took their team to the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history. He didn't have the best game and didn't play like he is capable of but his offense wasn't exactly helping him out either. He still had around 200 yards and 3tds with no turnovers. And I agree, Fujita saved Bush by getting the ball back, but most Saints fans won't remember his contribution for the playoffs or the season for that matter next offseason and will be demanding an afflete to replace him in either the draft or free agency. Fans actually wanted an aging Derrick Brooks (who no team wanted I believe) to replace one of the White linebackers.
the Colts and the Saints have a similar number of Whites seeing significant playing time (there are no real set starters with the Saints for certain positions with the multiple packages Payton uses on offense and Gregg Williams on defense), but the Colts have the Whiter line (which stays constant throughout the game of course) and a White receiver but the Saints have Whites playing on defense. So it really is a toss up, but we will see multiple White tight ends that are basically receivers that also block, a White WR and White linebackers. These will be the positions the casual fans will be paying attention to, especially ones who just watch the Superbowl, as much as I hate sumos. I am worried that Oline might wind up like DT, with obese affletes instead of strong lean White men. So this is a much better matchup than last year.Edited by: dwid

There is nothing about Lance Moore or Marques Colston that Hass wouldn't be able to do, both of these guys run lcose to the 4.6 range and Lance Moore is 5'8 or 5'9, I guess him being 1/8th black got him more time to develop on the practice squad for a roster spot than Hass.
Really, it doesn't matter who wins, I will be rooting for the White players (which drives my Wife and Dad nuts when they ask "who are you pulling for?" and I respond "the White guys!"
btw Shockey should be healthy enough to make a big impact in this game, it will have been 3 weeks since he first had the knee bruise.
Its a shame Favre is the scapegoat for this lost, btw the first hit seemed to be clean which got a flag, but then the next hit which was illgal didn't get the flag, so I don't know whats up with that. Brees also got criticism from Saints fans who claim he almost cost them the game, this is the day after he took their team to the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history. He didn't have the best game and didn't play like he is capable of but his offense wasn't exactly helping him out either. He still had around 200 yards and 3tds with no turnovers. And I agree, Fujita saved Bush by getting the ball back, but most Saints fans won't remember his contribution for the playoffs or the season for that matter next offseason and will be demanding an afflete to replace him in either the draft or free agency. Fans actually wanted an aging Derrick Brooks (who no team wanted I believe) to replace one of the White linebackers.
the Colts and the Saints have a similar number of Whites seeing significant playing time (there are no real set starters with the Saints for certain positions with the multiple packages Payton uses on offense and Gregg Williams on defense), but the Colts have the Whiter line (which stays constant throughout the game of course) and a White receiver but the Saints have Whites playing on defense. So it really is a toss up, but we will see multiple White tight ends that are basically receivers that also block, a White WR and White linebackers. These will be the positions the casual fans will be paying attention to, especially ones who just watch the Superbowl, as much as I hate sumos. I am worried that Oline might wind up like DT, with obese affletes instead of strong lean White men. So this is a much better matchup than last year.Edited by: dwid

I agree though, it sucks he'll be the goat, despite Peterson's three fumbles and some dropped passes. But it's like the kicker who misses the winning field goal; you really can't blame a loss on one player on one play. Football is a team sport, and the Vikings in general gave that game away, from the coaching staff down to the twelfth man in the huddle.
