I just watched the highlights of the Eagles game on nfl.com. When Brent Celek's big day came up one of the Sambos replied (and I paraphrase): "Brent who? That's the problem. Why are they throwing to him so much? We'll discuss that problem later"

On Curtis, they had nothing to say on his big day only that he should have caught the ball on that 4th down. You know, the play where the guy tackled him from behind. Interfernce was an unacceptable excuse.

I know there are some optimists in this thread who say that Curtis' big game will mute the drop on 4th down, but Poop's post shows that the blame game has already started. They're not going to remember anything about Curtis in this game other than that he dropped a catchable ball on 4th and 10. Just like when a kicker misses the game winning field goal, it doesn't matter that the running back fumbled three plays ago and cost them yardage, it's the kickers fault. What's seen last is what's remembered. Curtis cost McNabb another chance at the Super Bowl.

And that's it.

Listening to 610AM Sport Radio in Philly, it appears most of the callers are placing most of the blame on McNabb for coming up short, literally. He underthrew or overthrew are the big complaints. The defense is 2nd to blame for the loss. Not much being said about Curtis, Celek or Akers. Funny but the talk show hosts still need to dig on Kevin Kolb, as not being a reliable backup QB. huh???

An argument can be made that the best players on the field in the two games today were Warner, Fitzgerald, Celek, Curtis, Roethlisberger, Leonhard, and Polamalu.  The leauge's small minority of white guys just keep on overachieving.

That is spot on, for sure.

And on another note, as usual, I like the way the duo of Aikman and Buck continually praised the play of Celek and Curtis, while rightfully criticizing McNabb for all his over and under-throws.

Deion Sanders, who is friends with McNabb, is stating emphatically on the NFL Network that McNabb won't be back with Philly. Hewent throughthe poor ol' Donovan routine, saying how the fans have subjected McNabb and his family to too many indignities and McNabb will tell ownership he isn't coming back. He added that McNabb is in the same company as Peyton Manning and Tom Brady and they would never be subjected to the same type of criticism as poor ol' Donovan is put through.

Steve Mariucci of course agreed with Sanders that McNabb is right there with Manning and Brady. Rich Eisen then piped in, repeating the absurd media mantra that Kevin Kolb "can't cut it," after playing all of one half of one game against the tough Ravens defense.

Mariucciand Sanders also both agreed that there was no pass interference on Kevin Curtis on the 4th and 10 play. The NFL Network isnothing but Caste clowns.

Listening to these Philly fans calling in on 610AM, they are more informative and knowledgeable about the game than the Caste clowns. Plus the Philly fans will say the obvious and not tow the Caste PC line.Edited by: SeaJim

I think only McNabb can throw for 375 yards, 3 tds, complete 60% of his passes and bear the brunt of the blame. He gets slurped by some far more than he deserves (as good as Brady and Manning?

) and criticized by others far more than he deserves. For whatever reason he polorizes the media and fans more than any qb.

He is getting no more than Peyton, Eli, Rivers, or any other star quarterback gets when his team loses. His problem is he thinks its all because he is black.

Personally I like McNabb, but the guy just chokes in the big games and that is the biggest beef Philly fans have with him. McNabb and Reid's ten year tenure is coming to an end, and the Philly fans want to move forward past these two. I think we might have them for another year unless either or both step down. The time has come to start looking past McNabb and Reid.

I don't pay close enough attention to those qbs during the regular season to track their criticism, but when they've been bashed in the playoffs it's when they've actually had bad games, not when they nearly throw for 400 yards. I don't remember guys like Warner, McNair, Brady or Delhomme getting much criticism either for their Super Bowl losses when they played just average to good. McNabb though, different story.

He also threw a pick and lost a fumble. And even though he had some yards, threw a lot of errant passesat critical times. He seems to come up short a lot in big games. He'd be more accurately described as McChoke rather than McClutch, that's for damn sure.

That's what I'm talking about. Even the best qbs avg. about an int. a game, yet people don't say they chocked if they throw one or even two. He missed throws but most qbs do. He's no Warner, but 60% isn't bad and about the same as the qbs I named above in their Super Bowl losses. If not for the pass interference they were still driving.

I think he gets critisized more than he should, but not because he's black. it's his personality; he'll smile after he throws a pick, I never see him get in anybody's face. He's a corporate guy, with a smile, who shows little fire. Guys like Warner, Manning, Brady and even former black qbs like McNair and Culpepper wore that fire on their sleeve and the media treated them great. Eli, on the other hand, I believe did get treated somewhat unfairly and that had a lot to do with his personality also.

Well, you know what? Like it or not that is how QB's are judged. Remember all the flak Peyton Manning received a few years ago until he won the big ones? The losses were always blamed on him. ALWAYS. He was labeled as a loser, the guy who couldn't win the big ones. He eventuallygot that monkey off of his back, McNabb hasn't.

One difference though, is that Manning played terrible in his playoff exits against NE twice and the Giants. But yeah, McNabb can solve the problem by winning the Super Bowl, so it's on him.

Hard to believe a guy can follow the NFL and never hear of Peyton Manning being called a choker. Even during last year's Super Bowl run the fans and media were ready to run Eli Manning out of New York. Philip Rivers can't catch a break no matter how good he plays.

Can Mcnabb throw an accurate ball that isn't in the flat? I swear his receivers had to reach back, leap or do a gumby move for all balls that weren't routine throws......

Jason Whitlock was calling Manning a choker after they lost this year in the playoffs, as was posted in the Tim Tebow thread.

White QBs take more of a beating from the media and the DWFs than McNabb, though I agree that McNabb is a polarizing figure. The criticism of McNabbderivesmainly from the Eagles so often being bridesmaids, and from McNabb's inconsistency. He'll never rival Manning, Brady, Brees and the other top QBs when it comes to accuracy.

How many more chances can McNabb and Reid get to win a Super Bowl after five near misses? A change of scenery is often a good thing for a player. McNabb's ready to move on. Minnesota and some other teams would trade a lot to get him.

Fightingtowin, I will say this - I think McNabb is a good quarterback but he isn't 'great,' and he isn't of the same caliber as the Bradys and Brees, et al, no matter how much he claims to be and how often the media says he is.

I did a statistical comparison some time back, it should be on the boards somewhere, but essentially McNabb is right there with the Brad Johnsons, Jeff Garcias, etc, i.e. a good, solid, second tier quarterback. He is obviously good enough to manage a team into the Super Bowl and four NFC Conference Championship games but he isn't going to win games by himself the way some of these other guys can.

He certainly deserves higher praise than Vick or Jamarcus Russell or Tarvaris Jackson though, that's for sure.

Often, it is a good thing for a veteran QB to move on when he has taken a team as far as he can, or as far as the team can go. McNabb has reached that point. Van Brocklin, Tittle. and Warren Moon are some examples.

Great call on Rivers Shogun. No matter how well he plays, and how bad LT plays, the media ALWAYS makes Rivers look bad, like it's his fault LT couldn't do anything right this year!

I remember seeing Rivers miss LT on a screen pass this year, and LT was irate! You could tell by the look on his face that he wasn't very fond of Rivers at that point. Of course, TWICE later in the game, LT dropped two wide open passes. Still, he looked like he blamed Rivers. Unbelievable.

I can't remember which "commentary" moron said, last year, "Who would you rather have in the playoffs, Vince Young or Philip Rivers," clearly implying the superiority of Young. That question has been answered, I think, but not how this idiot imagined.

One thing I noticed missing from every hightlight reel I've watched (ESPN and NFL.com) was the incredibly pivotable and stupid personal foul against a Raven that occured after Lenard had another pretty good return. With less that 6 minutes to go and trailing by 2, the Ravens would have had the ball at I think about the 40-45 yard line. Instead I believe they had it on about the 13 yard line. This was the most important play in the game and yet it was missed by every highlight reel.

Time and time again selfish black players get caught giving a cheap shot late in an important game. Stupid, stupid football! This is an epidemic in college and pro football. Players care more about trash talking, show-boating, and cheap-shotting than they do about winning. I'm sure right after the game the teams shook hands, exchanged smiles and hugs, and made plans to meet at the gentlemen's club later on. Edited by: Kaptain Poop

It was about the most stupid personal foul I have seen in 50 years of watching football on TV.

The Eagles and Cardinals also had two stupid personal fouls . Once, a black Cardinals DE, threw down Westbrook away from the play, and guess what? Whisenhunt didn't do anything about it. Warner throws a pass to a reciever, 5 seconds later, Quentin Mikals for the Eagles, comes up and drills Warner. Reid doesn't even care about it. They both played the next snap as well too. If that had been a white guy doing that, he would have been benched for the rest of the game.

I was just going to mention this. That can be definitely classified as premeditated.
