Players Signed After Week One?

This might a good thread to announce the signings (or tryouts) for the guys we love to root for and follow. Hopefully vets like Jordan Shipley, Jacob Hester, Bobby Carpenter, Chad Hall and others will be signed soon. As well as talented youngsters who impressed in preseason, but were relegated to the practice squad -- David Douglas, Matt Broha, ect.

Anyway, I was surfing at the usually odious Weenieworld today and saw New Orleans has signed an offensive tackle named Bryce Harris to their 53 man roster. He began the season on Atlanta's practice squad...Considering I don't follow college football and the draft much at all, I had no idea who he was. I figured "Bryce" is usually a white name, but "Harris" is a very common black surname in sports...Turns out, upon a google search, he's a white kid from Fresno State, who was considered a D-1 hoops prospect coming out of high school. Hopefully he develops and eventually starts somewhere. Based on his "computer numbers" (size, strength, speed) he seems to have everything needed to succeed, except the ideal skin pigmentation?

Thanks Leonardfan....Celtic, as I've noted before, I don't really follow these guys until they get real close to the NFL, but, if I recall correctly, Tim's stats and workout numbers at Vandy were so good that he could've (should've) been a 2nd or 3rd round pick and no one would've batted an eyelash or raised an eyebrow in doubt. Kind of like Zach Clayton, the DT on Tennessee's practice squad, played at Auburn and had amazing (off the charts) pre-draft workouts, but was still lucky to be picked in round 7.

Heck, if Fugger was black, my guess is he could've been a first round pick with a resume very similar to current 1st round busts Jerry Hughes and Larry English, who went to TCU and No. Illinois. Hopefully he gets a chance elsewhere, but any time a white "draft pick" at a caste position is cut this early in his career, it's a bad sign.

Jags also cut Colin Cloherty and added Stephen Spach at tight end/H-Back...Sort of a "lateral" move, one white blocking/special teams H-Back for another. Actually, it might even be bad, as Spach is 5 years older....Also the Jags cut Brian Robiskie yesterday, who's a great poster boy for the Caste system: Not real big, not real fast or athletic, not that talented and didn't have great stats in college, but because he's black and the son of an ex-NFL player and coach, he was drafted in round 2 and was immediately beloved by the DWF's in Cleveland and given a million chances to succeed.


P.S: Just saw slow-poke Patrick Turner, a wide receiver from USC, was cut by the Jets today...He's very similar to Robiskie, except he's taller and slower -- if that's even possible? Still, don't expect this to mean much going forward, as NFL teams will simply just draft even more obvious busts-to-be in the future, to replace these horribly overrated players they drafted a few years ago. The cycle never ends, particularly at WR and DE.

Nice list back in '09, whiteathlete33. Goodness, so many of the guys picked real high in the mid-2000's are already long gone and forgotten, particularly the clowns picked after round one.

Actually, if you go back and look at the 2009 draft, only 3 white WR's were selected -- Hartline, Collie and Edleman, a converted college QB picked in round 7. All three are valuable players for their teams. If not for injuries, Hartline and Collie would be entrenched starters this season. But if you look at the list, how many black busts are on it already?

2009 draft has many "historic" black busts already and wide receiver is no exception. 3 top 11 picks have already been cut or traded for no value -- Smith, Curry and Maybin. Many other first round blacks hold little value, while all 5 white first rounders have either made the Pro Bowl or are on the cusp of making it -- Stafford, Mack, Matthews, Cushing and Wood.

Even most of the white 2nd rounders are good starters, with Laurinaitis and Barwin being absolute Pro Bowl types. Only reason they might never make a Pro Bowl (whether the game is ever played again or not), is because blacks, who make up the majority in the NFL, don't like voting for whites when they get their ballots. Outside of that, Barwin and Little Animal are absolutely better than all the black linebackers picked ahead of them that spring. Matthews, Cushing, Laurinaitis and Barwin are the best linebackers from the 2009 draft. Not even the most ardent, Kosher brain-washed DWF could debate this. Maybe the Poly from USC that plays for the Bengals could rank a close #5...but no one else is even close to those four, most notably super busts Aaron Curry and Aaron Maybin. Actually, I believe if Jason Phillips and McKillop ever got fair chances, they could be solid starters.

So, with all that success in the 2009 draft, did that help white LB's in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 drafts? Quick glance, I'd say no?

Yes, dwid, contracts are not guaranteed for the entire season if a veteran player signs after week one. Kind of figured no team would sign Carpenter until week 2, at the earliest, because after week 2 they can cut him at any time and not have to pay his full, annual salary. Actually, considering how well Bobby played in a limited role in Detroit last season, coupled with his strong preseason with the Pats, I'm kind of surprised he's even available...but we all know the deal.

Via Weenie world: Eagles waived S Jaiquawn Jarrett.

Jarrett was widely viewed as a reach when the Eagles selected him with the 54th overall pick in last year's draft. Although he was billed as an athletic hard hitter, Jarrett's instincts never developed. Often left floundering in coverage, Jarrett also showed a penchant for taking bad angles and missing tackles. Though he was given plenty of opportunities to win a starting job, Jarrett had tumbled to third-team defense after a disastrous preseason opener a month ago.

Wow, what a surprise, some no name mid-major college talent (but noted as an athletic hard hitter) from a crappy school (Temple) quickly rockets up the draft charts in the spring of 2011, yet flames out real quick -- can't even keep roster spot go into his 2nd season...Can you imagine how much this guy must suck? Black, recent 2nd round pick getting cut so soon?

Anyway, he's just another in the long line of black draft busts. Wanted to mention this: Former undrafted free agent Colt Anderson is on the PUP list and is expected to be back this season, after it was assumed he would've been named to the 2011 NFC Pro Bowl squad as a special teamer (kick coverage). Hopefully he'll be promoted fairly soon, as he says he's ready now...heck, perhaps he'll replace the "Great Jaiquawn" this weekend?

I see that the Eagles signed Jeremy Ebert to their practice squad. He'll be the next in the long line of White receivers toyed with and then kicked to the curb at Fat Bastard's plantation.

This shows the sorry state of affairs that Ebert had no better options than this. With his college production and measurables, there should be teams lining up to sign him to their 53 man roster.

Eric Bakhtiari has been re-signed by San Francisco, only because some afflete was arrested for DUI and suspended by the league for 3 games. He's already 27, but has only played in 3 NFL games thus far. He's been released 9 times and to practice squads 7 times during his career, despite being an annual pre-season star for several teams the last 5 years:

Bakhtiari led the team in sacks (2 1/2 ) and ranked second in tackles (14) during the preseason before he was among the final roster cuts Aug. 31.

He's been around so long, he actually played for the 49er's current wigger coach at the University of San Diego (1-aa). Here's a good article about him from last month. Details how he works out with Clay Matthews, ect:

In a shocking development, the Tampa Bay Blackaneers signed DE Jeff Charleston. Although he played sparingly for the Saints the last few years in a typical dead-end racial apprenticeship position, he's actually pretty good. I think that he's starter-quality in a fair league. That said, I think that if we actually see him in a game it will be a miracle.

Tyler Sash returns this week from his month long suspension and is ready to play. Giants have one week to activate him, but it's expected they will do it before Sunday's game. Had it not been for this dubious suspension (the same rap one of his teammates beat), he would likely be starting this weekend due to injuries. Instead, he's probably behind two ex-"street free agents" on the depth chart.

Truthteller, I have read several articles on Sash and he's apparently "happy" about Phillips being the starter. He wants to contribute any way he can on special teams. Where have we heard that before?
