And meanwhile John Bowker continues to crush the ball in AAA and yet will probably not come up until September. Moss is hammering the ball in Indy as well and may not even be called up at all this year.

Oh yeah, as if Poor Poor hitting Argeniz Diaz is not bad enough at short, the Pirates dropped pitcher Jakubaukus to make room on the roster for another player. That will be recent trade acquisition Ciriaco another one of those black hispanic no hit "awesome" fielding shortstops that will probably come up tomorrow or the next day

I remember just 2-3 years ago the only black player on the roster was Delwyn Young. Today we have to work hard to get 3 whites in the starting lineup, not counting the pitcher. and even the pitching staff is becoming more uh......athletic

Yeah one of the things president Coonelly was bragging about was the fact that we are signing a ton of hispanic players and the team was now starting to get back "to its roots". ????? Gosh I didn't know that the city of Pittsburhs roots were hispanic. OK OK I know what he meant. And he is right. Pittsburgh is starting to look more like the Pirates of the seventies when we would put out an all black/hispanic team

You can't even argue with most of the fans on the sites. they really feel like the only athletes are the black or hispanic ones. Plus they will tell you white players, no matter how good, are boring. they say they rather have blacks and hispanics that play with more pizzaz and fire. It is disgusting

I have said over and over again that the Pirates need to be investigated for their business practices by MLB. The Pirates obviously do not want to be competitive. The Pirates have made an art form out of shedding salary while boosting their own profits. In essence, they have created a cash cow, while tarnishing the reputation of the league and misleading their consumers with practices that are reminiscent of predatory corporations who suck at the government teat like Walmart. The Pirates suckle at the teat of the league and the revenue sharing system. It is hard to feel sorry for Pirates fans though, despite the Pirates chicanery and horrendous record year after year, they still have managed to draw around 20,000 fans per game, when they should be drawing Montreal Expos like numbers. The revenue sharing program was supposed to be about helping to make smaller market teams more competitive, not lining owners pockets, but of course with an idiot like Selig at the helm of MLB, it is no surprise that loopholes have been exploited. The small market teams that don't put their handouts from the big market teams should be forced to forgo any payments or give any money back that's not invested into players salaries to at least try and field a competitive team like the Tampa Bay Rays have done for the fans. Every small market team with a greedy owner could just shed payroll every year then keep the profits...

MLB should realign some teams IMO according to market size so that smaller market teams can have a legit chance every year of making the post season by winning their division and the bigger markets that can afford to field a 150-200 million dollar team aren't penalized.

Erik Kratz,the 30 year old catcher who was buried in the minor leagues was brought up not long ago to the "major" league club,he was sent back down to Indianapolis when Chris Snyder was acquired,Kratz said a few days ago at piratesreport.com,"they want Jason Jaramillo to do most of the catching here"..........!

Regarding your post of 08/22. If you're able to get these people to respond, always argue your points, gently, with questions. Whatever they say in reply, question their responses more and more. "Doesn't he have the greatest swing?", "Doesn't he have a great arm?" "Doesn't he have great potential?" "Shouldn't he learn the rules of the game a bit better (after making a baserunning mistake that kills a rally)?" etc.

At some point, your tactics (relentless questioning) will be successful. Remember, alway question everything.

OK, the season is just about wound down. And as expected it would also appear the Pirates will get the number pick next year in college draft. My burning question is ...........what the heck kind of nationality is Rendon. He is the player most on the Pirates sites want us to get. For the life of me I cannot tell if he is black or white or mixed. Anyone know. And I personally hope we get either Springer, Cole or Purke...uh depending on what I find out about Rendon. LOL

Then he looks hispanic and has the name Rendon as well. He is just hard to pin down. Of course this is what the liberals want. Pirates have interviewed two candidates for manager so far. Eric Wedge was first followed by Bo Porter. Are you kidding me? Bo Porter?? and they have now expressed interest in former team cancer player, Juan Samuel. Of course he stated he would be very interested and would interview soon. Van Slyke told the FO he is interested as did Phil Garner but neither of them has been scheduled for interview yet nor mentioned as possibilities

Not a particular guy but he just must be hispanic since we are going to be a total hispanic league soon. and they are not being funny but are serious. One guy keeps calling for Mike Lowell, because he is hispanic. ??? I honestly did not know he was hispanic. Juan Samuel, Carlos Tosca.....and the beat goes on

I didn't know who Bo Porter was til he was interviewed and then I checked out his picture. I guess there is some sort of unwritten "Selig Rule" now that black and Hispanic candidates have to be interviewed for open MLB skipper jobs.

yeah, Porter hopefully will be hired by the Marlins. he would be a waste. But remember back a few years in another manager search. The Pirates had made their choice and were ready to announce it. Then the commish stepped in. He informed the Pirates that they WOULD "interview" a minority. The Pirates then stepped back, interviewed Lloyd McClendon and low and behold were so taken with his interview they just had to drop their intended man and hire Lloyd. We know how that went. He was downright stupid. Some of the dumbest managing I have ever seen. Still it took them five years to get rid of him. I will never forget that scenario.
