If that was the black agent who pushed Hillis not to play because of strep throat, all I can say is that it's about time. Peyton's image being ruined happened in large part because of the bad advice he was getting from that agent.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that free agent Peyton Hillis told the Browns "as recently as the end of the season" that he was considering retirement. Hillis, who is on his fourth agent since the 2010 season, appears to have a screw loose. Per Schefter, Hillis "even considered joining the CIA" at one point, and "wavered" about playing football throughout the past season. Schefter does report that it "now looks as if he will continue playing." The Browns will not be franchise tagging Hillis, and his lack of commitment to football will surely be detrimental to his free agent appeal. The Browns would like to re-sign Hillis, but we can't imagine them guaranteeing him much money.

At this point it really appears that there is a concerted effort to run Peyton out of the league......first there was the strep-throat thing with him dramatically leaving in his car right before game time.....then there was the mamby pamby no-show for some radio charity function which the media blew into a huge "problem player", "locker room cancer" thing. Now this BS....c'mon. And Peyton never comes out and defends himself.....the charges and innuendo just linger out there. People get tired of "it", whatever "it" is and turn on him...I've seen it happening on the Browns forums. What looked so good in Cleveland has turned into a nightmare for Peyton.....too bad.

Hillis told Browns coaches as recently as the end of the season that he was contemplating retirement, though it now looks as if he will continue playing, the sources said.
But Hillis has felt defeated throughout his time in football, whether it was being benched at Arkansas in favor of Felix Jones and Darren McFadden, being traded by the Denver Broncos, or being unable to procure the long-term deal he desired in Cleveland.
It led him to tell Browns coaches that he didn't know whether he wanted to play football anymore.

Denver fans seem to want him back. A lot of stupid comments but a few who realize that this is all blown out of proportion. Could you imagine Tebow handing off to Hillis? Plus in that division...it revitalized Willis McGahee's career, at least for a season. He had bigger holes because teams had to worry about Tebow on the zone read.

Hillis denies the CIA and retirement nonsense, but just the floating of the story yesterday adds to the year-long negative campaign against him by the media and obviously one or more execs in the Cleveland front office. Caste Walrus anyone?

Free agent Peyton Hill is calling an ESPN report that claimed he wanted to join the Central Intelligence Agency last season, "100 percent false." Hillis believes someone concocted the story "to try to devalue him in free agency." It's worth noting that ESPN's report cited team sources, and it's conceivable that a Browns employee leaked the bizarre details purposely so Cleveland could re-sign Hillis on the cheap. "I don't know what's going on or who came up with a story like that, but they should've come up with a better one to make it sound more legit," said Hillis. "I never one time mentioned anything to any coach about retirement or joining the CIA or anything like that."

I've been reading the Cleveland papers quite a bit since Peyton joined the team. I've noticed there is one tiny little nerd in the media that hates him (Tony Grossi) and loves to take shots at him (and other white players) whenever he can. This Mary Kay Cabot appears to be the opposite. She seems very fair to Peyton and to all the white players in general. Not saying she favors white players, but she gives them the same respect she gives all players. Peyton and others can't ask for more these days. That said, Mary Kay Cabot does a great job here allowing Hillis to tell his side of the story. Nice to see a white woman stand up and treats these guys the same way she would want her brothers or sons to be treated.

By the way, this is the same route the Marxist in the national media took to run Matt Jones, who's also from Arkansas, out the game -- paint him as indifferent, unmotivated and a trouble maker. Let's hope Peyton has no legal troubles, or he'll be gone in less than 60 seconds from the NFL!

P.S: My guess is Chris Mortensen, who's son played with Peyton at UA, would defend him because he likes him a lot...That said, however, he's probably smart enough to know he can't attack one of ESPN's top Lonsmen (Schefter) on the air and remain employed for very long.

Here are two white guys in a sea of criminal NFL players....one convicted in involvement of a double murder in Atlanta winning the Superbowl MVP....others who have like eight kids with seven different "baby-mommas"....violent incidents at strip clubs with a "posse" leaving someone paralyzed....but the media goes after Matt Jones and Peyton Hillis as if they are Charles Manson incarnate.....and the sad part is the DWFs just play right along...."he's a locker room cancer"..."unmotivated"...."nut case"....its sad.

I'm in agreement with you and Don, but I hope this is just a minor hick-up for Hillis and he lands on a team where he can use his ability.

I think we made some progress in the Caste only positions, although minor with Hillis, Woodhead, and possibly Gerhardt with the injury to Peterson, Toby played well when given the opportunity. I will remain positive.

Although not a banner year for RB's coming out of college, I hope next year will be better with McGuffie, Burkhead, and Line coming in 2013.

You can't really compare Hillis's situation with John Riggins because the times were so different when Riggins came into the NFL in 1971 as a first round draft choice. At Kansas Riggins was a 230 pounder with great speed, some elusivesness, and who didn't block much. The scouts called him "a white Jimmy Brown."

At that time (unlike the present) a white RB with great physical talent was desired by NFL teams. The Jets drafted Riggins to replace Matt Snell, and he did.

Riggins had a good rookie year in 1971 and was having a better season in 1972 when he injured a knee, missing the last few games. He held out in 1973, didn't sign until the season started and had a poor year. He had a mediocre season in 1974 and a fairly good one in 1975, which landed him a big contract with the Redskins.

During his last few years in New York, Riggins constantly complained about being underpaid and that the Jets depended too much on Joe Namath and the passing game.

Imagine what the MSM and DWFs would say about a white RB who did that today,

So this past week it was leaked that Tiger Woods contemplated quitting golf and becoming a navy seal -there was no real media backlash and from what I heard/read many of the jock sniffing sports "journalists" believe he could of accomplished this.

On the other hand a totally bogus story about Peyton Hillis joinining the CIA pops up and he is being painted as some sort of weirdo/headcase and gets criticized by the press. I know this is all hypothetical but I would put my money 100 times out of 100 on Hillis becoming a CIA agent before Woods was ever able to become a Navy seal. Hillis is a beast in great shape and Woods is a golfer yet the dwfs and jock sniffing reports all think Woods would be able to complete seal training...give me a break.

The parallels between these two stories make for a very easy/compelling case of a caste system and how white male athletes seem to be portrayed most of the time. Hillis could break Woods in half if he wanted to.

Hillis told Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer that he’s willing to give the team a “hometown discountâ€; he shared with Cabot an offer the Browns made last year that seems to be only a step or two removed from a “five-finger discount.â€
Hillis said the Browns proposed $25 million or $26 million over four or five years. While the question of whether the offer covered four or five years has a fairly significant impact on the annual average, it’s the average in the first three years that makes the offer one heck of a bargain for the Browns.

Hillis claims the contract would have paid out $1.2 million per year for the first three years. “It wasn’t the money, it’s just how it was structured,†Hillis said.

He’s right. Given the nature of the running back position, if less than $4 million was being paid in the first three years with a balloon payment in the final one or two, Hillis never would have seen the back end of the deal. And so it’ll be interesting to see the specific structure of the deal, if the Browns eventually make Hillis an offer he doesn’t refuse.


If they were trying to pay him that little money (relatively speaking) and run him into the ground and dump him by the time he turned 30 so they wouldn't have to pay the loaded back end of the contract than I do not blame him. If he was a black RB he would have received a much better deal..probably in the 4-5 million per year range.

When do we just give it up completely? When has it gone so far past the point of criminal that we stop having anything to do with it? Ive been asking myself this question for a long time. I thought when Matt Jones got exiled for being a threat to the system that Id give up then. If Peyton isnt given a fair chance I think Ill never watch football again. Welker and Woodhead are amazing but even they dont get the credit, and respect they deserve. Jordy is the most gifted, and talented WR in the NFL, and thats beyond argument, but hes not even a starter on his own team. How can the fans be so drunk. I hope he hangs in there but they will wear you down mentally with all the games. That is basically what happened to Jones, he still had a "tryout" offer from Washington but he declined after being jerked around for so long. He could have hung in there, probably bounced around the league for several years and maybe got a shot to get minimal playing time when he was close to 30, basically working his way back up. Guys like Keith Poole were jerked around too and said to hell with it and quit. Its hard to be denied the chance to play when you know for a fact that you can dominate and at the same time be treated like crap.

Hopefully Hillis stays mentally strong through this and ignores everything because they are trying everything to make him WANT to retire.

Hillis Reaching Out to Former Agent

Peyton Hillis has played music chairs with his agents. Jimmy Sexton represented Hillis when he came into the league. Hillis fired Sexton after last season and hired Kelli Masters.

Hillis fired Masters and hired Kennard McGuire. Last week, Hillis fired McGuire.

Now, a source with knowledge of the situation tells Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk that Hillis plans to re-hire Sexton, who has since joined CAA. Per the source, Ben Dogra of CAA also will be involved in the representation.

Once official, Sexton and Dogra will likely work with the Browns in an effort to extend an expiring contract. Next Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET, Hillis will hit the open market, absent a new deal with the Browns.

Though Hillis fairly can be viewed as a bit kooky after his misadventures of the past year, the fact that Sexton would take Hillis back suggests that there’s still a chance to turn his career around.
