The Chiefs could use help right now since Charles is out. They gave Thomas Jones more carries when Charles was in so a duo of Hillis and Charles would be deadly but yeah a trade could end his chances as a starter. Im sure Broncos fans would welcome him back with open arms, just wonder if Fox would start him, he's 10x better than the backs they have now. Fox would have an advantage if he plays Hillis and absolutely intent on not starting Tebow. By playing Hillis it would quiet some fans in my opinion.




Hillis just sent these 2 tweets:

"I love the fans of Cleveland..the city that gave me a chance. I play hard in every play of every game."

"if I could have physically played against the Dolphins I would have. I love this city and hope to retire here."

Most Browns fans don't seem to think Grossi has any credibility.

What's a little concerning about strep throat going forward here is that he had to take antibiotics. Recently antibiotics have been connected to an increase in soft tissue injuries such as tendon and ligament tears. I tore a calf muscle this spring and Doctor asked if I had recently taken antibiotics and then explained.

Just amazing, isn't it? For the first time in 25 years, a white RB somehow, against all odds, has a breakthrough season and even ends up on the Madden cover. Then....

Coincidence of all coincidences...the team that is throwing long term contract extensions to lesser players (including woefully underused white TE Evan Moore) evidently has no interest in inking its star player to a new deal. As I said at the time, the whole "strep throat" deal was suspicious and I think subsequent events have proven my skepticism to be well founded.

There isn't another team in the league where Hillis could go and have anywhere near the number of touches he gets at Cleveland. Anyway you look at this, Hillis (and any future white RBs) are losers. No team will trade for him and declare him the starter, especially at this point in the season.

The two white RBs who broke such barriers last season are both in dire situations. Woodhead is hurt, and Ridley is almost certain to eliminate most of the touches he gets in the future. Now Hillis is embroiled in Strep Throatgate. And people wonder why I believe in conspiracies....

The more I think about this, the more it becomes so obvious. The NFL has proven over the past 25 years that they are committed to not having a white feature RB. Hillis, through atrition of black backs, somehow fell through the cracks and became a fan favorite. So now they let the "straw man" succeed to the point of being on the cover of Madden.....only to marginalize him and cut his legs out from under him....so now, for a generation, if any white kid says "____ is a great running back, he should be drafted", his buddy will look at him and say...."remember Peyton Hillis...what a failure"...its sad but becoming obviously true....

Why all the predictions of doom? Even if Hillis gets screwed again and never is a starter again, what does it prove beyond the existence of the Caste System? As I see it, nothing. Spend less time making gloomy predictions and spend more time talking up these men and sending out some positive energy. Aren't things negative enough for us without us adding to the mix? I know I've been guilty of being negative many times, but it really is pointless, and it also sends mixed signals to those who may be lurking around the site and who are just becoming aware of the caste system. We shouldn't pitch a conspiracy tent just because we don't know or understand what is going on in a situation.

The Cleveland management is playing with fire here. Peyton Hillis was a RB1 draft pick in all FF football leagues. That means thousands upon thousands of DWFs are watching this situation with increased interest. It's one thing to screw a Woodhead or a Tebow, guys that were rarely drafted and thus out of the extremely narrow vision of the DWF world. But Hillis is a big part of guys teams and it's one thing if he's hurt, heck all backs get hurt, but it's quite another if the coaching staff is ****ing around with his carries for no good reason. That pisses guys off. The media is savvy enough to know that guys only follow their hometown teams and the players on their FF team. They will keep an eye on this situation and be asking questions.

Now if Cleveland guts it out and continues to screw Hillis or if he gets hurt then he drops off the radar and will be forgotten before you can say Brock Forsey. But this year there are a lot of eyes on this situation and it WILL put pressure on the team.

Good point Jaxvid. Even non-DWFs (like me ) have Hillis on our FF rosters, and are PO'd that he's not getting the carries he deserves. So I'm first angry from an anti-caste prospective & secondly upset for a FF (Lambert League) reason. :icon_mad:

But Hillis has to produce. Unless Shurmur continues his idiotic, head scratching play calls (like lining Hillis up at FB or not having him in at the goal line), then I believe he will produce.

There are so many similarities between the Hillis and Tebow situation's. Both have alot of support from the fan base of their respective city. Both have headcoaches and front office people trying to pretty much destroy their careers - Denver won't let Tebow play even though they are 1-3 - they insist Orton is their best option to win. They are setting the team up for failure this year so they can justify spending a high first round pick on one of the top QBs in next year's draft (Andrew Luck if they get the number one pick and if they pick a little lower either Barkley or Landry Jones). Not playing Tebow gives them leverage because he will not be able showcase his ability to see if he is the QB for the Broncos moving forward.

The Hillis situation has alot of the same underlying themes. Fat Walrus drafted Hardesty and wants to give him every chance to succeed at the expense of Hillis. These past few weeks Peyton has been the target of personal attacks more than likely generated by the front office stating that he did not play against the Dolphins because of his contract situation and "whispers" in the locker room by some players that he did not play because he wanted more money. Luckily Hardesty's crap play in last weeks game has forced Fat Walrus's puppet Shurmur to concede that Hillis is the best player on the team and needs more touches but this was not until the fans let the Browns know their displeasure with the way Hillis has been treated.

I agree. Something is obviously going on and the contract situation may just be a smokescreen. Luckily Hillis has the support of a lot of DWF's. It's a shame these clowns don't take it for what it really is, a racial issue. They have respect for Hillis but I'm willing to bet the house that they see Hardesty as more explosive and Hillis as a hardworking, limited athlete who gets the most of his abilities.

maybe the agent is asking for too much. Hillis deserves a nice contract but the agent could be asking for CJ type money, Hillis deserves it but there is no way they will pay a White rb with one great season under his belt + the 5 great games with the Broncos. For the record Matt Forte is getting paid pretty low as well for a starter, I think he is making 600,000 this year, but he made more all together, 3.78 to the 1.76 million Hillis made. Hillis is just as good as a receiver as Forte and twice the runner.

I guess all he can do is play his best for the rest of the year. He is going to have to prove himself over and over again.

I think it's safe to say Hillis isn't at all aware of the caste system. He uses a black agent. Not that all white agents would have his best interests at heart but a black one most likely wouldn't. It took countless injuries to black running backs in Denver for him to get his chance. After proving he was very good he was given the boot back to the bench. In Cleveland he was given almost a full season to showcase his talents thanks to injuries again. If he thinks another team will let him be a starter then he's terribly mistaken.

actually after what happened in Denver and what is going on now, with the mentioning of race constantly when his name comes up, Im pretty sure he has some awareness that there is racial discrimination, probably just not sure how it works. Most agents are jewish and he has gotten rid of a few from what I have read. Everyone that has screwed him over has been white or jewish so what is he to think. Not that the black agent has his best interest but I don't know if it would be any better with another one. If the Browns aren't willing to sign him then what other choice does he have? At this point it doesn't look like he is in the Brown's long term future either. Im starting to wonder if the issue is money or the length of the contract. I can see the Browns trying to sign him to some 1 or 2 year deal and drafting another rookie.

He may not be the starter somewhere else but it will be hard to deny him a time share, maybe he can go to the Redskins and reunite with Shanahan, win them another Superobowl, like when Riggins went from the Jets to the Redskins.

I don't disagree with you completely, as you make a good point....But I like WA33's post. This is not a good move. Sure all agents want the most money possible, but is that always best for the player? This agent, I believe, has a stable of 'athletic stars' -- Andre Johnson, Vince Wilfork, Brandon Marshall, ect.

Sure he wants all his players to make as much as they can, but these guys are easily replaced by an agent like this -- so the white running back's career goes up in smoke because he caused a rift between the player and the team? In the short run, the agent loses...but in the long run, he replaces whitey with a stable of ebony runners?

Let's hope he doesn't go to free agency with this agent -- he'll put him in the worst possible scenario, perhaps?

Hopefully I'm wrong. Perhaps the agent will be 'extra careful' here and treat him better than the brothers, as he's hoping to tap into the white market -- which includes the quarterbacks, who make the monster money?

He could easily be argued for top 3. I can't think of any other current runningback that would've had the same season under the circumstances he had last year besides one, that is Steven Jackson.

I agree with dwid that Hillis is a top 3 back. Even the haters should put him in the top 5 at the very least. I will say this. If he does not sign a fair contract and remain the starter with the Browns, I might just quit watching the NFL for good. The guy is a star and a fan favorite. He deserves better than this crap. Come on Cleveland. Sign the guy already!
