Paul Hession (new Irish 100m record)

Not bad at all. He ran 20.44 with a 2.1 wind a week ago too. In Beijing he barely missed a final and had a 20.32. If he can get under 20.30 I think he'll make the final. He is probably the best white 200 runner this year. Connaughton might.
 
One fast Irishman. He did very well in Beijing actually running 20.31 only .01 off his PR. I think this is his year to lower that mark for Ireland.
 
Not what I'd like but still a SB. He is shaing a little bit off each time he runs. I want to see him run a 100 soon because I bet with a nice wind he could challenge 10.15 or even 10.10. 20.50 and a win in his heat today, not sure if there will be a finals too. Next up, Lemaitre and Bolt.
 
Looked like the weather was pretty horrible in Lausanne today as well, so a good run by PH.

Definitely. There was pouring rain. He certainly would have been in the 20.20 to 20.40 range I predicted without it. Also, he had no real competition being in the B race. He should have been racing Bolt.

Paul hession is in my opinion the best white in the 200 as of now. Herring and Kosenkow are up there too, but Hession is better for this year. Our best chance at the finals. Guliyev is also up there. Wariner would be the best if he bulked up and trained for it, but the 400 is his calling.

The Irish are producing some grand runners. Grand indeed. The best white besides the Borlee's and Wariner is Gillick, and a white sweep is possible is Merritt faulters. I think merritt will get silver though, and Borlee and Gillick will battle for bronze. Some carribean athletes are unfortunately in the mix two, but they are less consistent (I wonder why...).

I'm looking forward to tommorow at Crystal Palace. I'm hoping for a three new personal bests. First for Hession to get into the 20.20's range.

Second for Laura Turner to break her p.b. in the 100 for Great Britain.

Last but not least, my girl Verena Ssiler to break her p.b. in the 100 and maybe pull the upset. Damn is she sexy!
 
Paul Hession finished 3rd today in the 200 in a seasons best time of 20.40! Not too bad. The conditions were about average. T.Gay won in a 20.00 flat time. Hession is slowly improving as the summer goes on but I don't know if it will be enough to make the finals. He still needs to ge alot faster. Still a nice showing. Le't hope he keeps getting faster with 3 weeks until the world champs.
 
Hession can handle rounds very well. Before Ramil Guliyev I would have said he is the best white 200m sprinter. He ran 20.31 in Beijing, and I love how he slowly and cleanly progresses throughout the season. I think he and Ramil have a good shot at making the finals this year. Too bad Bolt steals the show.
 
I just want to bump this thread back towards the top. For Paul Hession to run a 20.46 a month before the Euro Champs tells me he will be ready for the challenge. I also believe that he is going to shatter his p.b. this summer. The guy is a joy to watch. He is very intelligent as he will become a doctor someday after he retires from athletics. Some guys have it all. Good luck to Paul in the next few months and especially at the Euro Champs. I'm hoping that Hession and Gillick can bring a few medals back to Ireland!
 
he will always have short little strides, not being blessed with long legs, but he certainly has good turnover and runs with commitment. You'll often see him sneak upanother place near the ends of his races and this to me shows a steely resolve.

20.20s would be nice in a month's time
