I heard the NewEngland Patriots are way, way under the salary cap. Then why did they get rid of Vinatieri, and their two best receivers? It's going to be very hard for Tom Brady to put points on the board. You'd almost get the impression the league would like to bring him down a few notches so Vick and company wouldn't look so bad in comparison.Too many Brady jerseys out there. I guess I'm just getting too cynical. Edited by: Bart

how is this a league fault that patriots have a strange player management policy? only Patriots are to blame (or to praise, if they succeed)for what they do with trades, signing players etc.

and more to the point, why aren't they passing the ball to David Thomas and Mills?

what happened to Tim Dwight?

yeah, but why did the Pats let him go? of all the teams in the League, the Pats love tough, versatile players the most, and Timmy was just that.

and it's not like he's exactly burning up the field over there for the J-e-t-s Jets, Jets, Jets...

J-E-T-S? Just End The Season?

They were my AFC team 2 years ago, when the kicker missed 2 FGs against the Steelers.

I'm disappointed too that they haven't used Mills or Thomas yet. It's not like they don't have the athletic ability and brain power to contribute as rookies. Daniel Graham is a first round bust, and their receivers are pretty pathetic. Reche Caldwell? The master of the crucial drop while in San Diego. Troy Brown? Give me a break.

And picking up Doug Gabriel wasn't much of an improvement. As quoted in another thread, here's why the Raiders, with their pitiful receiving corps, traded Gabriel:

"Quite simply, the Raiders looked at Gabriel and realized he was a player who was inconsistent on the field, dropping more passes than he caught, and someone who was a little more self-important than he deserved to be."

Doesn't exactly sound likeone of those character guys the Patriots are supposedly filled with.

The NFL is packed with pitiful black receiving corps. Did you watch Jenkins, White and Lelie of the Falcons last night? Almost as bad as the alleged "quarterback" throwing them the ball. And of course Mike Hass and Chase Lyman couldn't possibly run the routesor make the catches that Colston and Hendersondid for the Saints in that game.

If by their two best recievers you mean David Givens and Deon Branch, then I have no problem with what the Patriots have done. Branch and Givens benefitted from a very good Patriots offense and despite being starters at least the last three years neither of them have ever broke the 1,000 yard mark. Both of them wanted to Patriots to "show them the money!". I admire the Patriots for showing them the door instead.

While everyone is gripping about these players being dismissed no one, outside of this website, recognizes the mistreatment of white WRs with similar stats who sign for the league minimum. Kevin Curtis is great example; last year as a non-starter he put up stats similar to the best years Branch and Givens yet he signed for the league minimum and no team showed interest in his talents. There was also no media hysteria over his misuse or Stokelys, or Jurevicuis etc.

As for Vinatieri, that too looks like a good move as Vinateri has been injured thus far this year. Certainly he is an elite kicker and deserves all the credit he gets but I would imagine he is one of the highest paid kickers in the league and if he can be replaced by a young guy that might be just as good then why not?

The reason Tom Brady and the offense may have trouble putting points on the board is that the Pats still have terrible slow undersized recievers and a slow RB.

I hope they use Garrett Mills more in the passing game. I thought he was injured. Anybody know his status?Edited by: Kaptain Poop

Kaptain, I don't disagree with your basic assumptions, but I look at it from Brady's perspective. It's been reported that he is very upset about the situation. He did have a degree of confidence throwing to those two and their replacements may prove to be very disappointing. The passing game is sputtering. Now, if they had gone after some of the very talented white receivers available to them at the time, I would have been ecstatic, but you know , they onlymanagedto replace two blacks with two more blacks. So, what the heck. Givens the last two years totalled something like 750 and 850 yards which isnot bad.No, Branch didn't accrue 1,000 yds but he was only 2 yds shy at 998 last year.

I like what the Pats did. No stars, no prima donnas. I understand that Brady is upset, but he doesn't make personnel decisions. Honestly, the Pats have had a great run, and it might well be another season for rebuilding and a taste of the playoffs for the newer players.

I am hoping Notre Dame talent finds its way to the Pats. I am sure Brady would forget about Branch if he had the Shark to throw too. I also see Zbikowski as the replacement to Rodney Harrison. Zbikowski is twice the athlete Harrison is and Bellicheck would have fun utilizing all that talent.

Marone is going to be damn good. Corey Dillon is an old busted up Dodge that the owner fell in love in with because that the was first car that he got a hickey in...

God I hope so. That dude is an incredible athlete, and I pray he gets a real shot at starting in the NFL.

Zbikowski is going to be a pro boxer.I'm pretty sure of that.He will put football on hold.It would be cool if he could eventually be a white american heavyweight champion. That would be even better than football in my opinion.I think that the Shark should stay with football over baseball.

White L, If Z ever made it to the Negro Football Legue it would be as a special teams demon and nothing else. Mike Hass should be everyones' water mark as to how whitey will be treated.

I think this could happen. Pats picked up a pick for Branch from Seattle and I have a feeling Samard$#$ will drop to that spot

We shall see..

The Patriot's front office are very stubborn and think they can be a good team even without their best players. Well, maybe they can. They done it before in the past. And Captin Poop, you really think Laurence Maroney is a slow RB?

Corey Dillion is still there #1. maroney has average speed for an nfl RB. Their record is now 2-1, don't panic. And that's Kaptain with a capital K.

Remember how in communist countries certain officials were disgraced then later "rehabilitated"? The same phenomenon occurs in the Caste media in the U.S. Read the above quote about Doug Gabriel. Now read this quote from this week's Sporting News on Gabriel, who last season was traded from the Raiders to the Patriots even though Oakland was desperate for receiving help and then quickly managed to play his way off the Patriots roster:

"The Raiders have a lot of competition at receiver, but look for Doug Gabriel to be the No. 3 and to make some big plays. He has good size, speed and hands. He played well early last season with the Patriots but fell from favor after a critical fumble."

Thanks to themedia's memory hole, Gabriel never had an attitude problem, and despite dropping more passes than your grandmother, is now possessed of "good hands." It's one small example of how the media mindwashes sports fans into believing the propaganda of the Caste System.
